Well…I’m already tired of winter….and it’s just getting started this week…going to be colder than crap later in the week and that is depressing….I’ve lived through lots of these but they don’t get any easier….I really do think Costa Rica may be the solution…didn’t get a lot done yesterday but today will be a busy one….have lots to do around here today and that will keep me busy until this aft….then there is soccer on later that will make for a nice break…..finally have almost gotten through the ham from last week so I am going to start thinking about some other kind of food for the rest of the week…and that is okay since I can use a break from the salt in ham….I still have that neck pain that I am going to have to take something for since I am going to be on my feet all day….more later….

Somebody flipped a switch….
Well….where the hell did fall go? I imagine that someone has a huge switch that they turned to “winter” last Thursday and now it’s winter. I was only 36 miles from getting to 3K and now that looks like it won’t happen…crap….oh, and the new people here have to be informed of the protocol for the aftermath of snow days….none of them moved their damn cars and now my parking spot is filled with snow since the guy running the bobcat today was too scared to clear the snow out between cars and left about a foot in my space….they weren’t doing anything else…they could have gotten off their butts and moved their cars like I do to give the guys clearing the snow a little help..but no, and now we will live with snow for the next couple of months…as you can tell, I’m a little irritated today…especially since my car is so small that a foot tall snow drift will fill up the radiator intake…but that doesn’t matter to the damn truck drivers around here…arrrgh….
December 12th
Well…just finished cleaning the car off and that is depressing….must have had 8 inches of snow on it…ick….and it was another wasted day yesterday where I just watched sports all day…but, Man U finally won a game so that was cool…and the Lions won again and that is just too weird….everything hurts again and this time I know it’s not the bike…feel fat and slow with being off it for 5 days now and I now need to shift into winter mode and cut back to one meal a day….and only two days of cocktails…have been coughing a lot the past day so I’m sure I have some sort of a bug but don’t feel too bad so I guess I’ll survive it….going to just veg it out today and take it easy so there won’t be much to talk about…I do need to do a few of these today so I will…more later…
December 11th
Well…forgot to pay my phone bill thurs…damn….first time I’ve ever forgotten it and I think it’s the first time I’ve ever been late on a bill….oh,well….didn’t get a lot done yesterday but supporting T in her long day at the mall with the bell ringers….I do have to do better today but there is soccer on all morning so that will be a total loss…Man U plays at 9 so anything I get done will be done before or after….I do have a cough today but I don’t feel bad so I’m not sure what the heck it is…okay…no, I do feel warm so it must be a cold…and that is weird since I am not around people much anymore….it is supposed to snow all day today so it will be a good one to hibernate….I may have some work to do around here but I may wait until tomorrow to do it…oh, the Lions play today so that will be something to do after soccer is over…and cleaning…always cleaning….more later…
December 10th
Well…woke up this morning feeling a little under the weather and coughing but I don’t feel that badly so I guess I can live with it…the run out and back to pool yesterday was a little iffy with people still not knowing how to drive in the snow…oh, and I won at pool….I really like how the car drives with the snowies on and I hope it will continue in the spring when I get the tires rotating correctly….didn’t much but pool yesterday and I’m not sure what I’ll do today…sure not going anywhere so I guess it will be soccer all day and just vegging….might clean the kitchen as I should but not sure about that…..going to just play it by ear early….more later…
December 9th
Well…after the ham debacle yesterday, the day calmed down into the tedious boredom that it normally is….but, the snow was not a s bad as was predicted so that is something….woke up this morning and my tinnitus was gone for a few minutes and that has not happened for more than thirty years…but, it is back now so that is disappointing….and I hurt again but not that badly so I can live with it…there will be no bike ride again today and it looks like for at least the next week with the highs next week being in teens and that is just too cold for me….didn’t get anything done yesterday and today looks the same…just don’t feel like doing much this morning…maybe that will change but I’m pretty sure it won’t….more later….
Why is this?
Well….since I have time…I sit here thinking a lot and a really weird thought came to me…maybe it’s more like an observation….when was the last time you saw a bicycle ad on tv? You see ads for everything else…and many things you don’t want to see…but why is it that they don’t advertise bicycles? I mean, they sell millions of them every year but they still use the direct sales method that has been abandoned by every other industry as being too labor intensive…why aren’t the manufacturers trying to take market share away from their competitors? That’s done even in soft drinks and chips where the item profit is much lower…so I just don’t understand….can they sell all they can build without advertising? That could explain it but why wouldn’t they want to try to grow their market share or their sales? Not sure what to say but it was just a thought….
This sucks….
Well….purposely went out this morning to beat the snowfall and slick roads but that was just the beginning of a weird day…remember that huge ham I got this morning? Well…after I cooked it, I found out it was spoiled and smelled really bady and this place just stinks so badly I think I may open the slider to change out the air….I should have known better since it didn’t have that good ham smell when I took it out of the package…it had kind of a weird smell that I questioned some but thought it would be okay…it wasn’t…and I put the ham and packaging in a Meijers bag and took it back over there…the people at the service desk were gagging at the smell so I guess I wasn’t wrong…but, the big pain is starting all over…having to clean all the dishes I used to cook the ham and gravy and then starting all over…and now I have heartburn like the small piece that I ate is starting to make me sick…just don’t need food poisoning right now…damn…
One good thing…ran into K,J, and S at Meijers and got to say hi…and I forgot some shave gel at the checkout that the Ukrainian woman saved for me and I picked that up, too….
December 8th
Well…yow….80 bucks for groceries…that I can carry in one hand? I was a little bit in shock this morning until I remembered that I was buying staples that will last a month or so…but, still…80 bucks? Glad I made some cash this week to pay for it….and still have some cash left to shoot pool tomorrow if the weather is good enough….it is really cold and windy right now and if we add snow to that, is going to be an ugly day…but I am in for most of it so that will be okay…have a huge ham to make today and got 5 pounds of potatoes for $1.28 so I think I’ll do it up right with mashed potatoes…..I did get the bathroom cleaned yesterday…finally….and today looks like I may do the kitchen and living room…have been good all week so I may have cocktails tonight and get caught up on some shows….feel pretty good today and don’t hurt anywhere but that may be that I haven’t been on the bike in a couple of days….more later….
Car keys….
Well….still can’t get to politics yest but I am easing up to it…so, I think I’ll talk about something else, again….a couple of weeks back, I noticed that the car key that I was using was not working too well in the ignition…it was catching and hard to turn so I decided to use the key that I got from the dealer a couple of years ago….that one never worked as smoothly as the one I got with the car so I continued to use the original key until I noticed that it had a crack in it…and with having a similar, cracked one break off in the trunk lock of the Mx-6, I thought it would be a good idea not to use it anymore. But, that left me with one key again and that doesn’t work with my two key winter system…where I leave the car running in really cold weather and just lock the doors….so yesterday, I decided to try to find a place to get a new key that didn’t cost me the 20 bucks the dealer charged…tried the Ace hardware that I use for the fasteners and other little things that you can only get at a real hardware store…they will even sell you one bolt if you need it…not like the big boxes where you have to buy twenty when you need one. So, they had the blank that matched the real key for the car and I was expecting to pay 7-10 dollars for it but was pleasantly surprised that it only cost $3.30 for the key…and after listening to a friend of mine with a modern car whose key has a chip in it that costs $250 dollars to replace, it just reinforces the idea that I love simple cars that don’t have that nonsense on them….after all, cars were around for a hundred years before chips…geez…
