Just trying to stay current…

Well…I have still not recovered from the day yesterday but I have started to feel guilt about not getting things done here so I am back for another one…it is funny how the right has gone off the rails today with ole Boehner having to use the dems to get the clean debt ceiling bill passed…the right is calling for his head since they want to keep fighting and being asses and he had a brief bout of sanity….and it is just so funny that sanity is the one thing the right just can’t tolerate…and the fact that he took this club away from the neanderthals until after the next election later in the year….I am still waiting for ole “Carnival Cruz” to try to make mischief while Reid tries to get it through the Senate….should be fun to see…

February 12th

Well…have been having problems with the internet and computer this morning so I’m really late…and I need to try a few things so I’m going to end here to check that this is working again…more later…okay…got it all fixed…I think it was my Twitter account that got hacked that was doing all the mischief…after I reset my password, everything worked again so that was cool…it was a long day yesterday with going out for lots o drinks with G…and then having a cocktail when I got home…so the computer problems were really not appreciated…didn’t accomplish much else other than going out yesterday so there is not much to tell…and, there will not be much to tell about today, either, since I am heading to the couch for some rest and a lot of water….more later…

Isn’t this illegal?

Well…int he runup to the union vote at a VW plant in Tenessee, the righties are out in force basically threatening the workers and even VW if they approve UAW representation. My question is: isn’t this illegal? Almost every repub in Tennessee has weighed in…threatening VW that they will never get another tax break if they go along with the unionization…even though VW has seen how well the “works council” relationship has worked in Europe and really do want the same kiind of relationship with their workers here in the states…but, have also threatened workers with retaliation if they vote for the union…now, I am pretty sure this is against the law and I can’t wait until a complaint gets filed with the NLRB and the lawsuits start to fly. These idiots in Tennessee have said that they will not approve any more tax breaks for the expansion that VW is planning…so, let me get this straight…if their workers vote to improve their work lives, the repubs will attack workers just to spite them and drive any new VW plant to Mexico?  This just shows you again that the repubs don’t give a damn about the workers in their states…just about the ideology that cuts workers wages and say in the workplace…but, this time, they don’t even have the support of the company in question…why don’t they just leave them alone and let the company do what it thinks is right? Geez…

Let’s not be stupid, folks…

Well…it appears that there will be a vote on a clean debt ceiling increase tomorrow and I am starting to get irritated with the left starting to frame the action as”caving” by Boehner…who really cares what the reasons are behind it or what it looks like? If you have any feel for politics, the first thing you should be thinking is that we got what we wanted but we don’t have to further poison the waters by rubbing his nose in it. We should be thanking Boehner even if it’s just for show…everyone knew he had to get to this point with a clean bill but it also helps our side if we try to reward him for this behavior…one of the basic tenets of psychology is that you get the behavior you reward for…so, let’s take the long view and reward him for it…you never know, it might make his base so pissed that he gets a primary challenge this year…we can only hope…

February 11th

Well…it was another wasted Olympic day yesterday but I did get this thing re-vamped so maybe that is something…not much, but something…I do have a new bug that is making me cough like crazy so maybe I have an excuse to watch the games now?  Slept okay last night but it was still another one of those 5 hour nights that may start to catch up with me later in the day…watching curling gives me the chance to get here early and then I won’t have to agonize over not doing this until later….not much to do today….going to get a few things done but no pressure….more later….

As you can see, there have been some changes..

Well…as you can see, I have been noodling around today trying to update the look of this place and I thought I’d give this a try…not sure if I’ll keep it or not but it does look a little more modern…and, it is the only thing I’ve gotten done today…got sucked into the Olympics again and just vegged the day out…I really do have to try to get better tomorrow and at least get some resumes out….but the Olympics start again when I get up…I am torn….

Oh, just went out and looked at the mobile site and it looks much better than it did so I may have to keep the changes for a while…

Olympics update…

Well…it’s happened again….I’ve been getting sucked into the Olympics again and it is really getting me off stride…don’t want to work out, don’t want to eat, or sleep when there are events on…not sure if the competition is as good as Canada 4 years ago, but it is still fun to have something to watch and take my mind off the rest of the world…and there have been some performances in ice dancing, slope style snowboarding, and many other events that have been pretty cool…and, I am getting geeked about how good the USA womens hockey team has been playing….but, the USA women lost in curling this morning and I am waiting for the USA mens to start….I finally have gotten past the part that the US has to win for me to enjoy it, too….so…there will be more updates as the games go on and I will even be lucid…I hope…

Walmart still sucks..

Well…one of the things that has been galling about watching the Olympics this time is the commercial that Walmart has been running about how wonderful they are for planning…remember, only planning to spend 250 billion dollars to ‘revive” American manufacturing….and every time I see it, I gag at the audacity of the ad…the audacity of a company who has spent the past 40 years destroying American manufacturing by their relentless push to cut costs by selling billions and billions of dollars of cheap Chinese crap…all the while paying their employees so little that most of them qualify for food stamps and other aid that has we taxpayers giving Walmart almost a million dollars a store in subsidies. It reminds me of the old, old joke that has a murderer killing his parents and then throwing himself on the mercy of the court by saying he has an excuse, he is an orphan….that is just what this whole campaign smells like…hollow out the economy with your strategic plans, then make a big deal that you might go back and fix some of the damage that you caused…what a sorry excuse for a company, and a sorry excuse for Americans these Waltons are…geez…

February 10th

Well…as you can see, I didn’t come back for anther one yesterday so that puts me at least two behind for the month…but, I just realized I have ready made topics in the olympics so I will be doing a few of those in the next couple of days….it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t do much…again, and I’m not sure today will be any better…I did get some cooking done but didn’t eat enough again but that is getting to be a broken record…and to know I won’t be able to get on the bike before May is starting to depress me more and more as the days go by…oh, well…slept okay last night but only got about 5 hours but I’m not sure that is a bad thing…I am getting drawn into the speed skating that is on live right now so I am going to go watch that right now….will have to work out here in a while but want to see the races first…more later…oh, and I so have a short comment on Walmart later…I am just pissed about a new commercial they have been running during the olympics…and that they have Mike Rowe narrating it makes it even worse…

February 9th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t do much and I am not going to feel guilty about it…I did make some ham soup and it came out really good…this time, I skimmed the fat off the top throughout it’s cooking so the broth is really clear and I hope more healthy…slept okay last night but that was from a cocktail night…back on the wagon today and no more cocktails until Friday…still need to be serious about not gaining more weight since I won’t be back on the bike until May….I do need to get the bathroom cleaned today and I have a pork loin to cook so that will be something…and, the olympics are on again, of course, so that will help keep the boredom at bay…more later….
