Saw Barnstorm on tv…

Well….was flicking through the tv channels the other day and came across the 2017 Colorado Music Hall of fame celebration concert and to my surprise, one of the groups being honored was Barnstorm, Joe Walsh’s second group after the Jame Gang. Over the years since the early 70′s, I had never seen them play and they are one of my favorite groups from that era…I still listen to their music almost every day on the bike ride and it was so cool to see the three original members up on stage…with Joe, Joe Vitale, and Kenny Passerelli…and they did three songs off the first album that I have never seen played live before even with seeing Joe Walsh play almost a dozen times…I was a little curious what the music press thought of them at the time since I still think Barnstorm was a niche band that only my friends and I knew about but there were reviews in Rolling Stone and other magazines that called the album a “masterpiece”…who knew?  All I know is the music still makes me smile after more than 40 years…

Comfort music?

Well…you hear people talk all the time about comfort food…that food from your childhood that you still eat and that makes you feel good when you do…like mac and cheese and and tomato soup…but, on the bike today, a new idea popped into my head…is there comfort music? I think so…every time I need a lift or some easy music on the ride, I always turn to my Joe Walsh playlist with songs like “the ashes the rain and I”, “Live my life again”, or the turkey song and the smile comes back and the troubles seem less than they were. I wonder if anyone else feels that way?  Hmmmm….

Almost forgot Joe…

Well…I was going to put this in the morning one on my life but I forgot for some reason…so, I’ll do it here and it will serve two purposes…it will get me caught up, and it will say Happy Birthday to one of my favorite rock and rollers…Joe Walsh turns 66 today and he has been a large part of the soundtrack that has accompanied my life from the days of the James Gang, through the Barnstorm years,, and into his solo stuff…who could not like an album named “The Smoker you drink, the player you get” or “you can’t argue with a sick mind”….so, Happy Birthday, Joe…and many, many more….
