Well…there have been some political things happen over the past few days but just don’t feel like doing one of those today….just want to do some meandering and see where it goes…I still can’t believe that the top on the Miata doesn’t leak even with all of the rain we’ve had over the past few days…my last convert, a Fiat 124 Spyder, leaked almost constantly and you could never get it sealed to keep the wind out…and the Miata is so much better of a car…Still no bites on the resumes this year so far and I am just so disappointed by that…and being broke is still a pain in the butt…the grill that I got for free is working like a champ and I have been grilling almost every day…have some rainbow trout to go on tomorrow and need to make a marinade for them this aft…it looks like the Red Wings aren’t going to make the playoffs this year for the first time in 21 years and that is really disappointing…but, the Tigers are hitting their stride so that will be fun to watch this summer…might be going out to have a couple with G this aft but who knows? Hmmmm…what else? One cool thing that I have found as a Miata owner is the Miata.net site where other owners hang out…without taking the car apart, I feel like I know it so much better just reading others posts…..and it gives me something to do….that’s it….

Just a little sports…
Well….that was about as good an opening game that we could expect from the Red Wings…they dominated every facet of the game hand we even got to see the second fight of Pavel Datsuyk’s career…I laughed so damn hard when that happened that I couldn’t catch my breath. It was good to see Mike Modano get his first goal as a Wing, and Hank and Pavel both got one along with Frantzen which made it a 4-0 shootout. Jimmy Howard looked good in goal but it was bad to lose Ericsson with back pain…I was a little disappointed that we didn’t see Maltby for the last game before he retires and I hope the Wings set aside a game night to honor his contributions since the early 90′s. Another game tonight but the damn dish folks haven’t settled the contract with Fox yet….so I won’t be able to see it without going out. Might be the time to try out the new bar over here….
Now, let’s get to the big game of the day..our own intrastate rivalry here in Michigan…Michigan versus Michigan State in college football…two teams, both 5-0, and more than a little hatred between them…I’m already in my gear and waiting…will probably take a nap before it since I almost overdid it last night and the energy level is s little low. Maybe make some coffee? I am rooting for Michigan as always…you know my rooting hierarchy…I will root for State whenever they are not playing Michigan…but, this year, I think it’s going to be State since they have a much more balanced team…Michigan’s defense has been suspect all year but we can hope they will improve today, can’t we? so, Go Blue!!!
Good Game
Well…I may have been a little hasty in condemning Jimmy Howard. He won me over some when he takes a puck to the face, loses his helmet and mask, and still makes a great stop on the rebound! The rest of the team was much better, too, but still having lapses at times where it looks like they stop trying. The best thing was I won 11 bucks betting on the goals since Hank scored two!

Another Sunday Funday
I am getting pretty excited about today’s Wings game, it will the first time the group has gotten together for this first-round playoff series and it just isn’t the same watching them at home and keeping up with comments by texts. Note to the NHL…move us out of the Western Conference so the games don’t start at 10 or later. And it’s much harder to bet on who get’s the goals over the phone, plus, it’s hard to see the bet pile get bigger and bigger. I hope the OT is open today (that’s the bar we go to..shortened from Our Tavern) since I am making guacamole for snacks and I think they like to have us idiots there. Well…need to get the guac going so it will be cold before the game starts so that’s it.

Wings Win!
That was an odd game last night, But the Wings won so that is good but to give up 4 goals to the Coyotes is not acceptable; at least the way I see it. But, as I said Friday, I probably wouldn’t remember much of it and I was right. Have to stop going out to the bar before the games but it was fun hanging out with G. Can’t wait for Sunday’s game and I think I will take it a little easier; will probably even remember some of it. Oh, and Hank got a hat-trick so I won a dollar!
One last thing…no more coffee shop…my DSL is fixed….yay!
