Well…I know you’ve probably had enough of the idiot trump and his band of criminals as I have so today I’m not going to talk about them…let’s talk about the Iowa caucuses and the shakeup that could come from them next week. At this point, I’m not really sure who my favorite is…I think I’ve accepted the fact that we need to support whoever the nominee is and make sure he beats the hell out of trump…I’ve liked Joe Biden for quite a while but he seems to be a little naive and out of touch with the new political reality that the repubs can’t be reasoned with, they won’t be part of any compromise that moves the entire country forward or treats Americans as more than pawns to be used to maintain their power…and they don’t give a damn about anyone who doesn’t vote for them. I think Biden’s beliefs are an old fashioned delusion where he is substituting how he thinks things are or should be with the political reality on the ground…and I fear that the progressive activists who are powering the party will sit this one out if he is the nominee. But, that is the one thing that can’t happen this year…we all need to get behind whoever the nominee is since anyone with a functioning brain and just a little empathy will be better than 4 more years of trump/mcconnell….hmmm…I think I’ll make this a series where I’ll talk about each of the leading candidates in a separate one….I know I’m already over for the month but to talk about having some hope and the genuinely great candidates we have is starting to restore my brain from the rot of trump….and I need a lot of that right now…

January 29th
Well…running about on time this morning and the damn coughing is still here even with taking something for it…but, I think the medicine is starting to break up the congestion so I just took another one…I forgot to take something for the allergies last night so my head is pretty plugged up this morning and I may have to take it soon…slept okay last night and don’t feel too bad today but still feel pretty worn out and it may be a bit of work to get the grocery runs done…and I may skip riding today since I’m just not motivated at all…or, I may wait til this afternoon…didn’t get a lot done yesterday and probably won’t today either but who knows? Need to put a push on to finish the last room so I don’t feel guilty about just living for a while and not doing any work until I get after the outside of the house in the spring….my guilt about not being done is starting to grow enough for me to get motivated so I think I may get the final loads of stuff out of the last room today and then get patching and sanding in there tomorrow….do have to hit depot to get a new respirator before that but don’t want to do that today with doing all the grocery runs….more later….
Had to try something…
Well…after another night of constant coughing and not sleeping, I have gotten to the point that I had to try something to clear up the congestion in my lungs and stop the coughing…so, I made a run out to Meijers this morning to pick up some OTC stuff that is designed to do just that…man, there is so damn much stuff out there to address every symptom of everything you may have but I didn’t want one that would take on a dozen symptoms, just the two that I have. Luckily, they make medicine that does address just the congestion and the coughing so I bought some…not cheap at 10 bucks but if it works, it will be worth it…took some and feel a little weird like an old time antihistamine but, after tonight, I don’t have anything to do other than the grocery run so I can take just feeling a little strange if it works…don’t see how anyone could take 6 of these a day…I may be able to tolerate 2 but that would be my limit…think I’ll save the second one for bed tonight and maybe I’ll get some sleep…
Mitch the great strategist?
Well…I know there has been this mythology that has arisen around moscow mitch that he is this “great strategist” when it comes to him running the senate but why? When you control the entire thing and have 53 trump synchophents to support anything you tell them to do, what great strategy is needed…especially when all you have to do is say no? When has he taken a losing situation and turned it into a win? Or when has he been in the minority and gotten what he wanted? This is just a tired shorthand lie that the media is telling about him…what makes him so great? Blocking Merrick Garland? When all he had to do is say a petulant “no” and the vote on him didn’t happen? Or even today, when he is blocking calling witnesses or getting documents from the idiot trump…why is that such “great strategy”? In the short term it may keep trump from getting convicted but it is going to lose them the WH and the senate in the fall…is that part of his “great strategy”? It may even lead to him losing his own seat in the senate since over 70% of the people in this country want to see the witnesses and hear from them first hand…and the dems are crushing the repubs in fundraising partially due to ole mitch’s shenanigans trying to protect trump…another great strategy? All I have to say is keep it up moscow mitch…you and idiot boy just might do what the dems haven’t been able to…destroy the repub party and save this country….
January 28th
Well…that sucked….went to bed a little early last night but woke up at 2:30 and couldn’t get back to sleep until 4 or so…even got up to watch tv for a while….then 5:30 rolled around and I was awake again so I just gave up…and I was coughing all night again last night so I am going to go out to get something OTC for it this morning…there has to be something that will break up the crap in my lungs once and for all and get rid of this damn cough…so, I feel a little lousy and worn out this morning and that may lead to a nap later in the day…I did get invited over to my youngest son’s house for dinner tonight and that is the first time I’ve been there since they got married 4 years ago…talk to him all the time but this will be fun…I did have to fill the feeders yesterday with the sparrows emptying the round one in only three days once they found it but it is still weird that they won’t use the clear one at all…may have to replace that one with another hanging one if they don’t want to use it….think I’ll check how much another one costs at Meijers when I’m out getting the lung stuff later this morning…didn’t get much done yesterday but clean a little and the bike ride and today looks the same…I really should get at the last room some today and I may work on it a little but I’m not sure….have to start figuring out how to afford a new weight machine, grill and new summer tires for the Miata…that should come to almost 600 bucks but I do need to spend it since I am feeling flabby without doing weight work and spring is coming so I will need the new tires since the old ones are bald…I guess I could put off the grill but I do miss grilling chicken and smoking fish…hmmmm….more later…
Bolton, Bolton, Bolton….
Well….how the hell could all of the repub senators be “blindsided” by reports that John Bolton says in his soon to be published book that, In August of last year, trump told him that he was withholding aid to Ukraine until he got investigations into the dems and the Bidens? The damn book was submitted to the WH for review on the 30th of December and you can be sure that the day it showed up, Moscow Mitch knew what was in it and in his “coordination” with the WH included telling other repub senators that Bolton had blown up the lie that trump and ole Mitch were pushing….and that made it even more important for moscow mitch to block any witnesses from being called since Bolton says in the book the Barr, Pompeo, and Mulvaney knew what was going on and went along with it…and idiot boy’s lawyers knew about it and went on the senate floor and lied to the senate and to the American people….and this morning, the coverup continues with the help of 53 repub co-conspirators who are still behind the criminal trump and protecting him. Now, I think this is where the dems have an opening since more than 50% of the people want trump convicted and removed from office…I know that won’t happen but the idea of a “truth commission” that will happen if the dems take the presidency and the WH in the fall could be a huge selling point if it is couched in the idea that no one is above the law including presidents and senators….no more of this bullshit “healing the country” that happened after Obama was elected…the repubs are a cancer that needs to be cut out before it kills America….
January 27th
Well…that wasn’t a bad night of sleep…I did wake up at 4:30 but went back to sleep until after 6 so I’m going to consider that a win…and I didn’t cough much overnight but it started up again just a few minutes ago but I can live with it….I now know it’s allergies since my eyes are scratchy and my head is plugged up, too…I know it’s a little weird but I am relived that it is allergies and not something else…can’t wait til it’s warm enough to open this place up and air it out….but then I guess the outdoor allergens will hit me then but what can you do? I am thinking about taking the bike off the trainer to take it our for a ride to look at the trails and see what condition they’re in…and the fresh air might help the allergies some…but I think I’ll wait til later in the week to give it a little more time to melt…I think I’ve started to count down to spring already since we’re only 5 weeks away from March and I can’t wait for this winter to be over…I know, it’s not been a bad one so far and it’s going to be above freezing for the next 10 days or so but I do want to get started on the yard and my garden…I may get some tomato seeds and get them started indoors so I can have tomatoes early in the summer….that would be fun…and I think I’ve been good enough not spending money that I can afford a grill here in a few weeks…not much to do today…still working on prep work for the last room and need to get moving on that so I can start on piecing the base trim together and get that painted…but not right now…need coffee and the news to find a topic for later today…okay, you know what it’s going to be….Bolton, Bolton, Bolton….more later…
The chickadees have found the window feeder…
Well…as you know, I was a little confused why no birds were using the feeder that is attached to the window while the round hanging feeder has a traffic jam of sparrows…just a few minutes ago, a chickadee found the window feeder and I think it is telling the rest of the flock that it is there since there is one coming in there every few seconds…and that is pretty cool…but still not one sparrow on it and that is a little weird since there is a waiting area below the round feeder where the sparrows sit until there is a place for them on it…maybe later in the day they will figure it out…now I need to make sure that I keep them filled since they will be depending on them for food…they have eaten half of what was in the round feeder already in just a day or so…I wonder if I’ll see any other birds than sparrows and chickadees?
January 26th
Well…that was a little bit better…slept most of the night with little coughing but that started back up as soon as I got up but it is actually clearing my lungs some and I wonder if this is a combo of my allergies and a cold…it’s hard to tell but I don’t feel too bad today so I’ll take it…and I’m here early today with getting up at 5:47 and it being too early to go out for the paper…I will say that the allergy stuff I took last night helped some to get rid of the itchy eyes and plugged up head so I may take some more later this morning…I did get a bike ride in yesterday and will do that again this morning before Man U plays at 10…I really don’t mind riding indoors and not having to worry about ice and snow…but it looks like it will be spring before I get outside again…don’t miss the cold at all….didn’t get much done yesterday and I think I’ll take the day off today, too…just can’t take any more dust that will flare my allergies…will need to get a a better respirator for all of the work around here…can’t wait to be able to open this place up and air it out…not much to do today…just going to take it easy and make some tacos for lunch…more later…
The lies and propaganda start…
Well…after the stirring and devastating presentation by the House managers in the idiot trump’s senate trial that showed in clear and ugly detail how idiot boy and his minions blackmailed Ukraine and then covered it up through preventing the House investigators from getting the witnesses who were in the room when these crimes were committed…and if you didn’t watch any of it, you DO need to go out and find Adam Schiff’s closing argument where he made it clear that the stakes in this trial are nothing less than the survival of our country….and that the repubs are all co-conspirators to this coverup since they will not look at the evidence and are going to acquit trump no matter what the truth is. And today, trump’s minions started their lie filled propaganda presentation in the senate, going back to the debunked conspiracy theories and completely ignoring the obstruction of congress charges that there is no defense from…instead pushing the lie that the president can do whatever he wants with foreign aid even though the GAO has said that trump and his cronies broke the law by withholding the Ukraine aid. So, should you watch this travesty? Either this or fox news, it’s all the same….
