Well…it’s another 4:14 morning….sing that to the tune of “Tequila Sunrise” by the Eagles and it makes it a little more palatable and less frustrating than normal…okay, no it doesn’t…it’s still a bunch of crap that even with all the work on the house and getting a bike ride in, I should be tired enough to sleep more than 4 hours but no such luck…it was weird taking three days off the bike and it was going to be 4 but when I walked out to load the car it was just warm enough to get out without the cold weather gear that I packed and moved over to the house…and I forgot to bring back over here…and I packed most of my dishes to be moved today so I guess my diet is going to consist of sandwiches for the rest of the week…or fast food that I haven’t eaten in over a year and I’m not sure I want to start that….that would be easier for sure but I’m not sure how my body would react to that…I am thinking of getting a pizza after the move Sat but I have one in the freezer I got from Aldi’s that should work for that, too and it was only 2.50….it’s only in the mid 30’s right now so I am going to have to put the heat on at the house since I want to paint today so I can put blinds up tomorrow and then get on cleaning thurs and friday so I don’t have to clean around things after the move…may even do some of that in the kitchen today since I don’t need all the tools in the kitchen anymore and the walls and dinette set are pretty dirty…more later…

Well….was going to do a political one but I am waiting for the reports on the testimony from one of the idiot boy’s aides that is going on right now…so, I think I’ll do a house update instead…made a bunch of progress at the house today…tried to get the built in microwave running today and the fan and light worked but when I started it, it blacked out completely and started to smoke so I just pulled the unit and cleaned up the area to get ready for installing a new exhaust fan but I’ll have to install a backsplash first since the fan is much smaller and there is just bare plaster there…that should be pretty easy but I think that will wait a while…I got some filling done in the numerous holes in the plaster in the kitchen and on the back door…but then remembered that I bought some 9 volt batteries since I wanted to try to fix the garage door opener and get the remote working again…found the problem with it pretty quickly…just a broken wire so now I have a powered garage door again…and it locks down so I don’t have to install a hasp to lock it…now that made my day and  it’s time to take a break and watch the postponed race that’s on at 2…more later….

Well…man, I feel lousy this morning and could use a day off but can’t take one with coming down to the wire on moving…feels like it’s all catching up with me but I just need to power through until sat night and then I can rest…I’m sure not sleeping has something to do with it but we all know I haven’t solved that over the past few years and won’t now…I do have almost everything small out of here and with 4 more trips after today, this place will be empty by Friday….I do need to start putting things away at the house after I work on the microwave today and I have new shades that need to go up in the kitchen but I need to paint first and I’m not ready for that yet…should prep for that today but I may put that off for a few days….need to put the tools away and clean the kitchen up today so it will be usable sat…haven’t been on the bike for three days and I can’t figure out why everything hurts from the waist down…might have to take something for it…at least my foot is just stiff today and won’t take anything for it again today to just let it heal some more…more later….

Well…that was a weird night of sleep with getting up twice but then getting back to sleep and having dreams twice…and that never happens so it was cool for a change…still got up at 5:15, though, and it would have been a trifecta to sleep in, too…but, I guess that’s too much to ask…my foot doesn’t hurt at all this morning and that is even with tapering off to one dose of medication so I may try to not take any today…the redness is almost gone but the skin on the joint is peeling off and I wonder if that has something to do with the gout….strange….it’s also a strange feeling that this is my last Sunday here and next week I’ll have a new routine at the house…hope it is as peaceful as the ones here normally are…and it should be even more peaceful with no one stomping over my head or running up and down the stairs…and I think I’m going to try to wean myself off wearing earplugs to sleep since I started that to blot out the noise from the heating unit upstairs a few years ago…but that will mean getting used to brand new noises at the house like I used to have to do in hotel rooms when I traveled for work….it is going to be a little busy today with trying to get a bike ride in after the run over to the house…need to measure the back door window for a shade and bring the faceplate for the microwave so I can epoxy the fasteners back on it after I clean it…and stop at depot to get the shades so I can get them up before the move…then I need to stop spending money for a while to build my account back up…more later…

Well….as I close in on the move date, I needed to work on details that will make the place ready to go…and today, I needed to test out the new thermostat, burn the crud off the stove top burners, and check out the over the range microwave/fan….and today, I was successful at all three…got the burners cleaned off with them red all the way from the inside coil to the outside one on all 4 burners…but boy did they stink and smoke doing it…think I may have to clean the ash off of them before I get into any cooking…when I got over there, the first thing I did was to turn the heat on and the furnace fired right up, ran a cycle, and shut down again…and did it one more time before I shut it off when I was leaving…I can’t believe how quiet the thing is compared to the 747 sound of the one here…and at 60 years old, I still think that’s a miracle…I had it set at 66 degrees and that was plenty warm enough to work in shorts and a t-shirt but we’ll see what it’s like just sitting and watching tv…still think I’ll have to go with long pants, socks, and a long sleeved t-shirt but I think I can get used to it…the last thing I worked on was the microwave/fan over the stove top that my son said hasn’t worked in more than 10 years but I have experience with microwaves and normally, when they don’t work, it’s just a fuse, so I took the face of it apart, located the fuse, and wrapped it in tin foil to just test to see if that is it…and I laughed out loud when it lit up and the fan worked so now instead of a replacement job, it’s now turned into a cleaning and repair job that I can do after I move in…so, quite a successful morning at the house…just need to get to the final cleaning to get ready to move and put my tools away….6 days….

Well…running a little late this morning even with getting up a little after 5 but just haven’t been able to get moving yet…it’s damn cold outside and I think that will keep me off the bike again today as the rain did yesterday…but, my right thigh can use the rest with the damn pain that started a few days ago…my foot seems to be better today but it is still discolored so I’m going to keep taking the medication until it’s gone…I was able to get my slip on shoes on yesterday with just a little pain so that is progress…I did get the wood floors waxed at the house yesterday and they came out pretty good and I cleaned the stove top, too…but that was a greasy mess that took me longer than the floors…and the burners all still work but need to burned to get the grease off them…I may go over and do that today but I need to take my fan so I can open the windows to let the smoke out so the smoke alarms don’t go off….and the drip pans have been soaking overnight and I need to  try to get the burned on crap off them…or see if I can find new ones but I can live with the old ones for a while….I do need to vacuum the last carpet that is in the bedroom I’m going to use and try to clean the spots off it, too…and get all that done before next Sat when I move in….but, not right now…just going to sit here and have my coffee for a while before I decide if I’m going over with another load….more later…

Well…it’s pretty sick that I now consider sleeping only til 5:14 a win these days…just once…damn, just once I’d like to “sleep in” until 7 or so….oh, well…haven’t taken any ibuprofen for pain all week but I just had to since my right thigh is screaming at me and it hurt like crazy trying to carry the bike down the stairs yesterday…and that is with only one ride a day this week and I don’t understand that…and my head is stopped up…okay…going to quit bitching…at least for now…I did get the lawn mowed at the house yesterday and got the thermostat set…I think, and I think I’ll try it this morning when I go over….need to wax the wood floors today to get ready for moving in next week and the cooktop is filthy so that is on the agenda for today, too along with putting some stuff away….it looks like rain out there but I am going to take a look and see if I can get out before I go over after it gets light…need to lube the rear shifter before I go since I washed all of the wd off cleaning it wed and it was terrible on the run yesterday…I do have almost everything moved that I can in the Miata and still have 4 runs over after today so this place will be cleaned out before the move day sat….I am really tired from this whole process and I think sat night is going to be a collapse night along with sun….I do need to get some long lounging clothes this week to get ready for having the heat set at 68 instead of the 75 I have here….and socks…lots of socks…and I’ll have to find my sweats in one of the many, many bags in the basement….more later….

Well…another weird morning with getting up at 3:54 and then going back to bed around 5 until 6, and sleeping  surprised the heck out of me….I really thought my foot was healed but putting my shoe on hurt like crazy again today so back to the medication for a couple more days…but, the pain is not bad at all…more stiffness than anything and I can live with that…but, my foot is still black and blue and red so maybe I’m pushing it a little…got a bunch of stuff done yesterday but I’m still feeling pretty crappy like I have a bug or something and I don’t know if it’s from the flu shot or not, but I do know my lungs have been bad on the bike the past couple of days and I don’t like it…need to wait for the trip over to the house today since I am taking one of my tv’s and I think it will only fit on the top after I put it down…don’t think it will fit in the seat but I’ll try that first…it is beginning to look pretty bare around here and I’m not sure how I feel about that…I mean, I’ve lived here a long time and it has mostly been good but having a house for a while will certainly quell that melancholy…and I am going to treat the floors today….or tomorrow before I move any more stuff in to get the wood as shiny and protected as it can be…and I do need to mow the lawn after I program the new thermostat and put some more stuff away…there is just so damn much storage compared to here that I am going to have to work to not fill it since I’ll only be there a little over a year…more later….

Well…didn’t get up til almost 6 this morning but that didn’t help feeling crappy again….I think I’m just worn out from all the house stuff going on and getting this place cleaned out…but, I’m almost there with more than a week to go so I guess I can slack off a bit here…but I do want to get more cleaning done both here and there so I guess I’ll just have to suck it up and get on with it…need to put the new thermostat up today and start putting stuff away…there is so much storage at the house that I think it will take some getting used to…even that little house is so much bigger than this place so it should be easy to find a place for everything….as I clear this place down to the stuff I need to move with the truck, it is even more apparent to me that two men and a truck are just a huge ripoff….and it appears the entire industry is in on the scam…not one other mover even replied to my request for a quote since it is not easy for them to pad their fees with such a small job….just a bunch of crooks…not much to do today…just the house run but not loading the car up since I do have the grocery run tomorrow morning…so I think it will be a light day tomorrow with just a tv and a few other things to move…more later….

Well….running about on time today with getting up at around 5 or so and I am just trying to ease into the day with coffee since I really don’t have any schedule this morning….had a pretty good day yesterday with getting the internet running at the house and getting the truck reserved for the 19th…and I got my address changed with the post office and one of my credit cards and now I have to go to the bank and get that one changed…and the mail is being delivered to the house so I can get the bills I need to pay…and I got the electricity shut off scheduled for here but still need to do that for the internet service…there really is a lot of stuff you need to do to move these days and I am getting there…and I nearly have this place cleaned out which I should have done by the end of the week so that will give me next week to finish….I can’t believe how much difference the new spark plugs made with the car…the engine sounds completely different and runs smoothly again and it doesn’t miss at idle like it did with the copper ones in it…so, it looks like the car will make it til the move which I wasn’t so sure about last week….it even shifts better for some reason but I think that’s just getting some of the air out of the clutch…which I need to bleed after I move…I do need to cook today since I have chicken in the fridge that has been there since last week…think I’ll make up some seasonings for it out of the cupboard before I pack that stuff and move it…need to clean at the house today so I can start putting things away….more later….
