Well…I finally got going on the yard today and got the lawn mowed with the bagger on it to pick up all the leaves and grass and smooth the lawn out some…still have huge bare spots from the drought and weed infestation we had last year and I’m going to hit it with weedkiller tomorrow since I crawled into the crawl space and turned the outdoor water tap back on…and now I can wash my bike and the car…and the old Miata needs washing after driving it in the rain last week…had two bags of leaves and branches I had to put out after picking them up off the lawn and I had one bag just fall apart so I needed to rebag the mess…what a pain…the check for the car is supposed to be delivered today but it looks like it has stalled…hasn’t changed to out for delivery all day so I’ll check it one more time this evening…the new Miata is about a foot longer than the old on so I may have to move the shelving unit that sits in front of the car…and I really do want to sweep it out and clean it up before I bring the new car home….okay, time to read again…

Well…up way too damn early with waking up a little after 4 and not being able to get back to sleep…so it’s going to be a low energy day today but I do need to mow the lawn after it dries up some…rain showers overnight but it’s only going to be in the 50’s today and I want to be out in shorts to mow so I guess we’ll see…so it looks like two rides indoors to start the day and then figuring out what else to do…I did track the check last night and it will be in Milwaukee today by 8pm so it looks like I will get the car…can’t wait til it’s sitting in my garage….pretty damn tired right now so the coffee needs to work soon or I’m just going to melt into the couch…but you know me, that’s not an option and I’ll drag my ass downstairs and get going before 7am….need to start thinking about food after having the BAH for so long…might have to go out and get some canned potatoes to make home fries and ham to finish it off…it’s a little weird that I’m coming to the end of driving the first Miata and I’m going to miss it after 13 years…but to have a reliable car that’s not trying to poison me is going to be a relief…more later…

Well…damn it really looks like today was a wasted one with only getting the three rides in and the outdoor one did some damage with how hard the wind was blowing coming back…my right knee was howling by the time I got back here and that always happens when I have to stress it lately…but I didn’t do anything else but the weight work and watch races along with reading…and I just discovered that I’ve already read one of the books and that sucks but that means I’ll get the other two done by Thursday….going to mow the lawn for the first time tomorrow so I can put the clippings out for pick up Monday night…and I’m going to get the outside water tap opened up tomorrow so I can wash my bike after riding it in the wet last week…so it may end up being a two ride day…crap, there is now a high pollen alert on for tomorrow so I’ll have to remember to take something for it before I hit the lawn…now teeth, ice, and reading…

Well…damn, up at 4:04 this morning but I was able to go back to sleep until a little after 6 and that has now made me late to get my day started and I need to get on the bike downstairs by 7….need to get three rides in by 1PM when the F1 race starts so I’ll be on my bike all morning…might try to get an outdoor ride in as one of the three but the coffee needs to work first…didn’t get much done yesterday and probably won’t today but I do need to get on the yard tomorrow and do the first mowing of the year so I can put the clippings and leaves out that have been stored in the garage since last week…it’s still in the 30’s here and that is pretty frickin depressing as we head to the end of April…but it appears that spring is coming in a couple of days when it will be in the 70’s for a day and that’s probably all the spring we are going to get this year…I do need to open up the outside water tap in the next couple of days and that means crawling into the crawl space and turning it back on and I wonder how many years I’ll be able to do that? Yeah, I’m starting to think that way as I feel myself getting old and I don’t like that one bit….more later…

Well…damn, I feel like crap today and I think the stress from getting the car purchase sorted is the cause of a lot of it…but that is done and I have my ferry trips scheduled so I am going to take today off after I get the first ride in and the errand run…up at 5:37 today and I am worn out….only had one meal yesterday and that is not a good thing….so today will be a day of eating a lot if I can force myself to do it…coffee, coffee…..I should make some toast and get on the bike in 20 minutes but I really don’t want to…okay, I’m whining again and need to stop that….I am a little depressed that my time with the first Miata is coming to an end after 13 years but it is just failing and has too much to fix to keep it going…I wonder how much I can still get for it…I’m hoping to get a grand for it even with it’s problems but I don’t know what the market looks like…I just need a day off to relax…damn, I didn’t know that getting old was going to be so much work…more later….

Well…it’s been a busy day today with having to go to the bank and get a check for the car money and send it express mail…and the owner Richard and I have been figuring out the logistics after my discovering that the last ferry back to Muskegon leaves 45 minutes after I get there so he said he would bring the car and meet me there when the ship pulls in…and he was nice enough to lower the reported price enough so I save enough in sales tax to pay for ferry trips both ways…that was cool…then my grill ran out of gas just as I started the ham so I had to go get the tank refilled and didn’t get the ham done until almost 3 so only one meal today…I did get three rides in but I’m not sure about tomorrow…I do have an errand to run early but then the rest of the day will be mine…so, on May 2nd I’ll have my new car and be back here by 3:30 or so…won’t be able to transfer the title and plates until the following Monday and then I’m going through the car and do a detail even though it looks already done…time for tv…

Well…boy, what a day yesterday and that is going to continue today as I need to go to the bank and get the check for the car and then to the post office to get it in the mail…it’s 7 am and I am having a hard time getting going today but one thing can say is that I didn’t have to take anything for my mouth yesterday for the first time in over three weeks but it does hurt a bit from grinding my teeth overnight and I need to figure out how to stop that…life has seemed to be a lot of work lately and I just want to get through today…just did a salt water rinse to get the sockets cleaned out and I am going to really try to not take anything for the pain…think I’ll do one ride indoors to start the day and then try to do two rides outdoors if I can miss the rain…but that is going to be some work…holy crap, there is a big storm just over in Wisconsin that is going to hit here in a couple of hours so I may wait to ride outdoors until this aft…going to hit the bank after it opens at 9 so I’ll be able to get the indoor ride in and another cup of coffee down before that….more later….

Well…I had a pretty good day today with getting the car and logistics  figured out and I’ll be heading across the lake the first week of May…going to send the check tomorrow to seal the deal…this is going to be the best car I’ve ever owned and it has 100,000 miles less on it than the first Miata when I bought it so it really is going to be my last car and I’m not sure how I feel about that…I’ll be an 80 year old driving around in a Miata and that’s pretty cool…and I get to take the ferry over and back so that’s cool, too….what the heck is the chance that I find a car in Wisconsin near where the ferry dock is? I guess my luck has held again but pulling the trigger fast helped, too sine the owner had other people interested… I did get three rides in today with two of them outdoors but I think I’ll be indoors tomorrow with the rain in the forecast…but right now it’s new book time…

Well…damn, I think I may have found a new car and I am excited about that…but it is in Wisconsin so I’ll have to figure out how the heck to get there….Tom, are you up for a road trip? Ha, and that is funny since Tom gave me a ride to pick up my first Miata…I’ll even pay you a few hundred to do it it you can…it’s weird at times how things work out…I’ve only owned one car with less mileage and that was an 88 Caravan I bought new and had to go to Toledo to pick up…but a Miata with under 50K miles and me putting 9 miles a week on it will certainly last me the rest of my life…maybe I can take the ferry over to Milwaukee and have the owner pick me up? I guess we’ll see…have a lot to do today and need to get going on it in 9 minutes or so to get the first ride in…need to hit the library, Meijers, and one more stop…and I need to finalize the deal on the car so I’m going to be busy for the next few days….but a good busy that will end with me having a new car…more later…

Well…when I finished up the last book tonight, I had a couple of hours to kill so I thought I’d look for cars and I think I’ve found my dream car…a 2008 Miata that looks just gorgeous and only has 49,000 miles on it…it’s a little pricey at 13 grand but it looks new and can be my last car for sure…it’s an upscale grand touring model that has all the options on it…but still no power top and I can live with that…have already gotten a response from the owner…another old guy like me who has his right rotator cuff blown out and can’t shift…oh, and it’s a 6 speed, too, and I really wanted that…I want this car…it’s a gorgeous dark slate color and only two owners since new…oh, and never driven in salt…,can I be this lucky? Things have worked out for me like getting my house so maybe I can have a two fer and get a new car, too…fingers crossed…
