Well…I am getting really damn tired of this cold that I’ve had for 10 days now…still feel worn out and I’m so cold that I have the heating pad on my back…okay, it’s stiff, too from going out on the bike today…and that was it’s own debacle with it only 51 degrees when I went out and the wind blowing 15-20 out of the NE…but it wasn’t too bad on the way out…coming back was no fun when it started to rain about 4 miles from here…I can take the cold and wind, but when you add in rain it just makes it so damn miserable that I haven’t been able to recover from it…have been in pain all day from the waist down and had to take ibuprofen so I could even think about riding the bike…the ride did help my mood even with being cold and wet so I guess that’s something…I do need to get out of here around 10 in the morning to hit the library one last time for more books and I hope I can find ones I haven’t read yet…will have a winter’s worth of reading to do after that…

October 14th
Well…didn’t get out of bed til after 6:30 this morning but still feel pretty worn out…and the little weather widget at the bottom of my screen says “cold weather” so I wonder that that means? It’s been cold with not even hitting 50 yesterday and raining all day but it’s not raining right now and it’s supposed to by 9 for a few hours…but I may be able to get out on the bike later in the afternoon if the wind isn’t too bad…we do have a gale warning on right now with wind around 20 and gusting to 40 or so….I guess we’ll see…I did finally open the can of Colombian coffee that I’ve had in the top of the pantry for two years…it’s expiration date is December of 2021 so I was a little concerned that it would be spoiled but I’m having a cup now and I now remember why I used to buy nothing but Colombian stuff…very smooth and lots of flavor…and I think I’m going back to it since the price difference is now less than a dollar for a big can and I bought one on Wed…so I’ll use this small can up over the next few weeks and then move on to the big one…didn’t get a lot done but make soup yesterday so I’ll need to clean a bit today…no laundry today since I did that yesterday…I do need to get back to my rehab exercises today and will do that in a bit…still need to strengthen my core after the surgery recovery….not much to do today…just going to ease into it and have more coffee and then figure out what to do…still not good at taking it easy so I won’t….more later…
This is the guy they want?
Well…amid all of the chaos that is the repub party trying to pick a new Speaker after the crazy assed right wingers shivved McCarthy, it has started to look like jim jordan is going to be who they want for this important job…so, let’s remember who this asshole is, shall we? Let’s go all the way back to when ole jim was an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University and guess what he did there? As the doctor for the team was sexually assaulting 100′s of students there, ole jimmy knew about it and did nothing…no reports to the higher ups, no police reports, no nothing as the students pleaded with him to do something to protect them…and he went so far to call the brother of one of the molested students crying that if his brother went public, his life would be ruined…and I still can’t understand why he has never been charged with anything in that scandal…then let’s fast forward to 2020 when ole jimmy was right in the thick of trying to steal the election for trump, attending planning meetings and making tons of coordinating phone calls with the other conspirators…but this is still the guy they want…of course it is…that is the modern repub party folks, you can break any law and cause harm to 100′s of students and that is not enough to disqualify you from leadership…and that is just frickin wrong…geez…
15 books…
Well…I started this one more than an hour ago but soup intervened and I made the potato I’ve been thinking about…it came out good but I think it needs more chicken flavor, onions, and celery to make it perfect….but I’m going to wait til the second day to see how the flavor evolves before I decide…now, this one is sup[posed to be about the 15 books I got for 30 bucks today…okay, 26 bucks but I gave them 4 bucks extra to support the library…got a lot of Patricia Cornwell, an Arthur C. Clark volume with a hundred stories in it, some Larry Niven, Dean Koontz, Asimov, and even the “Lord of the Rings” that I’ve never read…so I’m going to have lots to read and will be going back for the 2 dollar leftover bags Sunday morning…
October 13th
Well…damn, running late this morning with not getting out of bed til 7:32 and having to take the battery out of the laptop and go through the whole restart process again that takes about a half hour…it is really weird this morning that I don’t hurt at all…after all the pain yesterday that I had to treat with ibuprofen, this is a welcome relief…even my arm where I got the shots barely hurts anymore so I guess it was from the vaccines…didn’t get much done yesterday other than putting the suitcase away and one bike ride and it looks like I won’t be on the bike today with the forecast of rain for the entire day…I do want to make potato/ham soup today but that will be after I head over to the library to see if I can get some more used books that are on sale this weekend…got a bunch of them last year and I am a little excited to see what I can get…darn, the internet just dropped out but it appears to be working again…weird…not much to do today…damn, it feels good to not hurt like I did yesterday…just need to get the Mastodon post out and then get a shower so I can go to the library at 10 or so…then there will be soup! More later…
Felt like crap all day…
Well…I know I’ve been slacking on the political stuff a little lately but today I had an excuse…felt like crap all day today…woke up sore as anything this morning and I’m pretty sure it was from the two vaccines I got yesterday…really tolerated the Pfizer vaccine well but this one was Moderna and I think that’s the problem…or it could be the RSV vaccine…I used to have this reaction to flu shots quite a while ago but that ended and I have no reaction to them anymore…so I took some ibuprofen and that helped a lot…enough that I suited up and got on the bike around 11 but that was a mistake…it was only 51 degrees and the wind was blowing 15 out of the east so going out was okay but the trip back was brutal and by the time I got back here two of my fingers had gone white and lost feeling…I did see 6 turkeys cross the road in front of me so I stopped to take a photo…and I had to take another ibuprofen and will have to again tonight if I’m going to get any sleep tonight…so, I’ve taken it pretty easy today but finally got the suitcase and bags cleaned out and put away along with the big tower fan that I won’t need anymore til spring…and it looks like I’ll get the next two days off with all the rain that is coming in…I do have to go to the library tomorrow morning since the yearly used book sale starts and I want to check it out…got almost 30 books last year and I’ll be there Sunday for the fill a bag for two bucks sale…can’t wait to see if I can get some good ones this year….
October 12th
Well…damn, everything hurts this morning from the top of my head to the soles of my feet…and the injection site for the vaccines really hurts today, too…so I’ve already take some ibuprofen before 6am today and have already poured down 3 quarts of water…every joint hurts but I’m not sure if it’s from sleeping on my right side last night or the vaccines…the leg pain could be from doing 30 miles yesterday after the 3 week break since it was a struggle doing it…now I guess the question is do I ride today or take a day off? It’s going to rain Fri and Sat so that would give me an excuse but I don’t have one today other than the pain…I’m glad I got the work done yesterday so I have options today…the yearly book sale starts at the library Friday so I’ll need to go out and get some cash for that and for the powerball…nope, someone in California won it last night…it is damn cold outside at 43 right now so even if I decide to go out, it’s going to be quite a while before I can…and I need to let the ibuprofen work for a bit…not much to do today…just going to ease into it and have more coffee before I make any decisions….damn, I hurt…more later…
Busy, busy day…
Well…I don’t know why I keep doing this to myself but I had another really busy day today…it all started off with the grocery run first thing this morning since it was raining so I couldn’t ride or mow the lawn and that worked out okay…got back here and the grass was still wet but I mowed anyway and it came out okay…then out on the bike for the first ride at about 11:30 that put me back here around 12:40 so there was no time for lunch before the vax appointment…went over to Meijers to get both the RSV and covid vaccine and the tech told me I got the last dose they had and wasn’t sure when they would get more…lucky…then back on the bike as soon as I got back here…I probably need to take a day off to restore some energy since both rides were a bit of a struggle today…still no side effects from the vaccines so I’m hoping it will be easy like every other time…although this covid was the Moderna since they haven’t been able to get the Pfizer version…oh, and I got my tickets for tonight’s powerball drawing that is 1.73 billion dollars and I’ll keep my fingers crossed….more later…haven’t had time to read the news today but I am going to try right now after I check on dinner…
October 11th
Well…running about on time today with getting out of be around 6:30 but my allergies are still killing me and I may have to take something for it soon…slept okay last night but the travel has caught up with me and I feel just so worn out…but I can’t be today since I have a lot to do…I was so sore yesterday that the bike ride was a chore and I can’t figure out how I hurt my left hip…was hobbling around all day but it seems to be better today…I hope…sine I have to mow the lawn this morning if it dries out enough after the rain last night…the heat ran all day yesterday and it looks like it will today, too, with the temp only 47 degrees right now…but it’s going to get up to 60 later so I may be able to put the top down on the car when I do the grocery run…have to do it later today since I have my RSV and covid vaccinations scheduled for 1:45 at Meijers and I’m going to do the shopping before it except for DD which I’ll do on the way home…can’t pass up a spiral sliced ham for 99 cents a pound and that will go with the chicken masala that I’m making this weekend…or maybe I’ll just wait til next week and make some chicken thighs today…I really do have to get back in the groove of cooking again but don’t want to fall back into the same old boring food again…more later…
A little politics…
Well…yeah, I know…haven’t been doing much in politics with being so busy on the trip but I am going to get back into it today…but first I’m going to just touch on some things and fill it in later…I can understand the frustration of the Palestinian people with how they have been treated by Israel over the years but murdering innocent civilians is not the way to be heard…and I know it’s just a small faction of them who are the murdering terrorists but they do have the support of the majority of the people who live in Gaza and the West Bank so it’s confusing who to have sympathy for…I do feel for them but don’t they share responsibility because they allow these thugs to speak for them by murder? But, I don’t think that Israel committing war crimes is the correct response…it hasn’t worked in the past so why would it work now? After this spasm of violence is over, why not try something different like treating the Palestinians like human beings? Or finding the faction who doesn’t want violence and help them become successful? Of course that would mean a state for the Palestinians and with Netenyahu in power, that is not going to happen….something needs to change…geez…
