Well…darn, we got another 8-10 inches of snow out here last night and it is blowing and drifting with the wind still gusting to 40…and they’ve extended the winter storm warning until noon today…looks pretty ugly out there and I won’t be going anywhere til late in the week…they still haven’t plowed the alley so I may be shoveling the end of it if I want to do the grocery run at some point….really sore from shoveling yesterday so I may have to take something for it before I go out for the next round today…and it’s only 16 degrees and it won’t get much warmer today….it would be a nice day to just hibernate but I have to get the bike rides in before Man U plays at 11:30…and the Lions play their first playoff game since the 90′s tonight so there will be lots of sports today….slept okay last night but was up and down most of the night and I wonder if that is why I feel pretty worn out this morning? I did eat more yesterday but that was only another bowl of soup…only have one more recipe that I want to try and that will be tomorrow since I still have leftovers for today…want to get back to some normal food after doing so many new recipes lately…I do need to clean the fridge soon and that may be today…who knows? Got the shoveling done…
Well…man, that was more work than I expected…we got 10-12 inches of snow last night and lots of blowing and drifting so it took me about twice as long to get it done…and I salted today since it is getting down to 17 tonight and then it continues to drop until Tuesday with a high of 13…I’m already sore from it so I think I’ll skip the weight work today…got my first sparrows on the feeder today and it’s taken 3 years for them to find it…the feeder has been busy with all of the snow and I have had at least one of every bird I’ve seen on it in the three years I’ve been here…so I’ll probably have to go out and fill it again before the sun goes down…right now I’m going to sit here for a bit and watch the Mecum auction…
January 13th
Well…that wasn’t too bad…slept through til 5:09 and then out of bed at 6:39 but I do feel a little worn out today with only having a bowl of soup to eat yesterday…I know I need to eat more but losing weight is the goal right now….it did snow overnight and added another 4 inches to the 3 we got yesterday so I’ll be out shoveling again this morning…the temp has started to drop and it’s only 24 out there right now and it is going to keep falling until Tuesday when the high is going to be 13….the wind is not howling like it was yesterday and I am happy the power stayed on after it blinked a few times last night…didn’t get a lot done yesterday other than making the new soup and I have enough leftovers to get me through the next 3 days or so so I froze the chicken breasts I bought for the chicken masala and will make that early next week after I make another new recipe…a new Italian pasta soup to use up the celery and carrots in the fridge…I really should clean the fridge today and I might after I do the bike rides that I am going to get to in 30 minutes or so…I need more coffee first….more later….
Another new soup…
Well…I think I’m on this theme of new soups that I have been making lately and I made another one today…a chicken/tortilla Mexican style soup that came out pretty good…even had a bowl and a half for lunch since I didn’t want or have room for a second container…I think the next time I make it, I’ll add some tomato sauce to up the tomato flavor sine I really like it…this is a keeper but if I keep making soup., it will be all that I eat anymore…it is pretty funny that so far this year, I have only eaten from scratch food that I made…no frozen food or anything else…and it is cool to be able to control what I put in to keep the salt and fat levels down…today’s soup only had one tblsp of olive oil to saute the onion and garlic in…and it used boneless/skinless chicken…okay, my little weather widget just said heavy rain later and I wonder if we are on the warm side of the big storm front that is coming through…it was supposed to start snowing at 10 this morning but it really hasn’t snowed much and I hope it stays that way….

Well…not sure if your system carries the MeTV+ channel but you have to stop watching it…I turned it on for the old tv shows the other day and every damn commercial is a maga one…lots of them from Hillsdale college pushing their free right wing “propaganda” classes where they are trying to groom the next generation of maga idiots…and lots of the ads are thinly disguised attacks on democrats and especially Joe Biden…they seem to think everything Joe does is unconstitutional and “destroying our freedoms”…and the main theme running through that is that we need to go back the the original meaning of the constitution where women can’t vote and men should be the only ones in charge…I’m not sure who owns that station but propaganda like that should be illegal….it could be that the one I get is from Florida which we all know is a sinkhole of maga bullshit…please don’t reward these assholes by giving eyes to these ads…geez…
January 12th
Well…man, what a weird couple of days with not sleeping at all for over 40 hours…but that ended last night when it felt like someone just pulled my batteries a little after 10 and I hit the sack and was out until 5:20 this morning then laid back down til 6:33…and that was welcome….not sure why my body behaved that way but I know I’m still feeling it this morning and will have to ease into the day at a reduced energy level….no snow yet but the wind is ramping up to the 50+ we’re supposed to get later…I’m going to hunker down in my nice warm house and enjoy the day of shoveling snow and maybe making another new recipe of chicken tortilla soup that looks really good…that will push the chicken masala back to Sunday but I really want to keep trying new recipes…and this one is for the instant pot and I like using that….didn’t get much done yesterday but the bike rides and I’ll get to that in a little while but I really need to take it easy and let the coffee work for a bit…not much to do today…it’s going to be a low energy day and I need to roll with that for now…only sleeping 7 hours in two days with 3 hours of sleep a day for the previous 3 days has worn me right out….I’m tired…more later…
Still haven’t slept…
Well…okay, this is really weird…still haven’t slept since I got out of bed early wed morning…tried to take a nap this afternoon but couldn’t even get close…I am curious what will happen tonight…what if I never sleep again? Have to have two more teeth removed since they are still infected and loose but they won’t make any difference with chewing since they don’t have any opposing teeth…but this ends the extractions until I die…so, I guess I’m going to clean my teeth right now and settle in for the night…it looks like were getting bombed with snow tomorrow starting in the morning and we could get 8-15 inches with high winds and drifting…but I am prepared for hibernation til next week….
Idiot boy’s first trial ended…
Well…just saw it come across the news that the idiot trump’s trial for business fraud ended this afternoon…and the judge who is deciding how much more than the original 250 million dollar fine he is going to have to pay said he will have a decision by the end of the month…the AG has asked for at least 370 million and a ban on any of the family ever owning or running a business in NY again…I for one don’t think the penalty fits the crime at all…they should all go to jail for an ongoing fraud that has been going on for 40 years at least…can’t wait for the criminal cases to get going and take up all of the asshole’s time an shut him the hell up…geez…
The polls are swinging…
Well…I can’t believe I haven’t slept since Wed morning and I still can’t take a nap….but I did want to talk a little bit about the polls that are starting to swing toward Joe Biden….just yesterday, one was released that showed Joe with a 7 point lead in NH, a repub state with a repub governor…and almost every poll for the past two weeks showed Joe with a growing lead…I think he should be up by 50 but that’s just because I read the news that is not fox…one surprising poll that came out earlier this week polled people over 65 and this is where I want to wait for another one before I believe it…that poll has Joe up by 64 to 36%….I think that older folks like me are getting tired of living in fear of the repubs destroying the SS we live on…and that’s the thing…the dems do everything they can to make Medicare and SS stronger while the repubs want to steal the money we paid in to give tax cuts to the rich…and we need to be shouting this from every rooftop and asking this question to every repub who crawls out from under their rock…we need to keep pushing them because it works…geez…
This is weird…
Well…this is weird…didn’t sleep at all last night and I don’t feel too bad right now…was on the bike for the first ride before 5am and finished up the second before 7…now I’m just finishing up the coffee before I have to clean my teeth to get ready for the dentist…I do need to stop at depot on the way back here to get some melting salt and I forgot some stuff at aldis so I need to stop there, too…but they are in the same parking lot so no big deal…with the really cold weather coming, I’m going to need to keep the walks salted…and shoveled since we’re supposed to get snow every day for the next ten days…oh, well…my car is not going anywhere til late next week…
