Breaking some records…

Well…haven’t done just a fun one in a while so I think I’ll talk about some things that happened on the trail today…with the wind that was blowing 20-30 mph out of the West this morning, the conditions were ripe to set some new records on the bike…and that is just what happened. On the first leg of the ride, after the first climb to the top of the hill along M-6, there is a downhill on the other side that I try every day to break the speed record for pedaling down to a certain spot on the hill…and then for overall speed at the bottom of the hill after coasting. The previous records were 28.3 mph for the pedaling portion resulting in a 32.3 mph speed at the bottom of the hill…but, today with the wind and three cups of coffee those were shattered….getting to 29.4 mph pedaling and 34.2 total speed at the bottom of the hill. I know, nothing that anyone but me would care about but I still think it’s pretty cool….

Oh, and I re-did the math on the total miles I’ve ridden on this bike and I am only about 350 miles from 20,000…yep, 20 thousand miles on a bike…burning 60 calories per mile that is like using 1.2 million calories….or converting it to pounds at 3,000 per pound…that is like using 400 pounds of me to ride that far…or, if I hadn’t ridden it, I’d weigh 400 pounds more….yech…
