Well…after the news this week on the overtures from Iran on trying to start toward normalizing relations with the US, we got the expected response from the repubs in a letter to Obama from McCain and some of the other idiots on the right…and guess what the advice is? It is to shout louder at the Iranians and to not negotiate unless the US will tell them what we want and accept nothing less thai everything we want. Now, this is not diplomacy by any stretch of the imagination and is the same failed policy that led us into war in Iraq…didn’t the repubs see that diplomacy can work as it did in Syria? It just goes back to how the repubs view negotiating and compromise in our government…as in they won’t unless the left gives them everything they want and they won’t be satisfied if they ever have to compromise one iota. That doesn’t work here, and it sure won’t work in the international arena…but the stupidity and ideological rigidity of the right just can’t allow any new thinking…even if there have been good results…geez…
September 25th
Well…it was a nice day yesterday even with breaking the shift cable on the bike…and the idea that this time they only charged me three bucks for a new one versus 12 bucks last time…bitched about that but didn’t have the receipt…oh, well…had a lot of fun with T last night going to the MM alumni meet and greet over at Aquinas…spent most of the time talking to the president of the College and that was fun…and free beer helped…even wore my suit and looked pretty sharp…and, I skipped cocktails after I got home so I feel okay today….that’s twice with T this week and that made me smile….slept pretty crappy, though, so I think that will have to be remedied with a nap this aft…but, I do have lots to do today so that might not happen….not much to do today…have to clean this place up and then get on the bike to do the adjustments to the new cable but that is about it…I will get caught up today since I am three down for the month….nope…five down for the month…need to get in gear…
September 24th
Well…running really late this morning and there is no reason for it…just took a lazy time reading the papers since I do have to wait a while to get out on the bike…too darn cold right now…it was a nice day yesterday with lunch with T and then a veg out for the rest of the day…even skipped the bike ride to let the legs heal a little but that won’t happen again today…I do have an event tonight at Aquinas for the alumni of the MM program…T was nice enough to sign us both up and it will be a good networking opportunity…plus it will be easier with at least one person that I know…not much to do today…other than the event…did have to take the suit out again and let it air out since I haven’t worn it since last year and find a shirt to wear…but no tie..just can’t get to that point yet….more later…
Chuck Todd is an idiot….
Well…have to cheat some since I have been a little slow on the uptake lately…so,…no, I don’t think I’ll cheat…just want to comment on the idiot Chuck Todd’s statement the other day that went something like this: “it’s not my job to point out Republican lies…” I’m sorry, Chuckster, but it is EXACTLY the job of the media to point out republican lies and talking points. This is what is wrong with the media these days…they act like truth and facts don’t matter any more…and they give this false equivalence to what is true and the lies that come out of the repubs every day….what the hell is wrong with the media? When did they stop doing their jobs as they did during Watergate? If the media acted then like they do now, Nixon never would have had to resign since they would have bought his lies and actively supported him. Chuck Todd should lose his job over this since he has shown that he is not a journalist…just a stenographer for the repubs…geez….
September 23rd
Well…..it was an okay day yesterday but the anticipated episode of “Breaking Bad” was not as good as last weeks…kind of disappointed…slept okay I think but should have put the heat on…it was cold in here this morning…and still is but I just can’t bring myself to turning the heat on…something about the passing of the seasons that I just hate more and more as I get older…but there was a good Lions game that made me smile and a nice long conversation by text with T that did the same…I’m sitting here now debating with myself whether or not to work out and ride this morning…just don’t want to get the gloves out yet…not much to do today…may have lunch with T but that is about it….more later…
September 22nd
Well…running about normal this morning and I think that is pretty good after the long day yesterday…270 miles in one day is a bit much in the car…and it was a little cold coming back with the top down…but, the car ran great the whole way at 80 so that makes it better…it was nice to see a couple of the boys again and hang out for a while…and I do have dates for the two weddings that will happen next year…one in May, the other in September….so I guess I’ll have to have the suit cleaned…slept okay last night but I am a little worn out and sore from the car…but, it is only about 50 so I am going to wait to get out on the bike until it warms up…and now I think I’ll head back to the couch for some soccer and coffee…more later…
Chasing turkeys…
Well..decided that I’m going to cheat a little today so I don’t get farther behind…so let’s talk about the trail…out yesterday, coming through Kentwood, there were 4 turkeys just walking down the trail so I thought I’d get moving and chase them…didn’t know that turkeys could run that fast…I was going 18 or so when they finally took off and started flying…pretty cool…but, then on the last climb up to the park for a water break…there is this old guy standing behind my bench just taking a leak…right out in the middle of the park…can’t say that I’ve ever seen that before…but the really strange thing is that there is a a restroom not 100 yards away from where he was standing….kind of turned me off using that bench….
September 21st
Well…it was an okay day yesterday…made a little cash and won at pool so that was good…didn’t accomplish anything else and, as you can see, I didn’t come back for another one so I am now three down for the month…but, that won’t be rectified today since I have to drive over to the other side of the state for one of my sons engagement party…the car has been running great so that doesn’t worry me at all…I am going to fill it up to check the mileage and I may even take it down a notch from 80 just to see what it can get…270 miles in one day is going to be the longest trip I have taken it on and with only an 11 gallon gas tank, it may take almost all of it…tried to take it easy last night so I have some energy today but that really didn’t work so I may have to take a nap before I leave this aft…more later…
September 20th
Well…running really late this morning and it is just because I seem to be in slow motion today…one of those days where slow is the only speed I appear to have and when that happens, I just need to go with it…so, I will…slept okay but only okay…no dreams to speak of…I have had a nice conversation with T this morning and that did make me smile a little…not much to do today…already have the grocery run done…not really a grocery run but I had to get a can of instant spare for the trip over to the other side of the state tomorrow…going to eat out of the freezer for the next week or so just so I have room for new stuff….I have enough fish to choke someone so that is going to be the priority….need to get on the bike before the rain so that’s it for now….more later…
The backlash is coming….
Well..if you’ve been here at all, you know how I feel about the idiots who are so scared of life that they need to carry guns around with them wherever they go….and, you have also heard me talk about how uncomfortable I am when one of these idiots walks into the coffee shop, etc. where I am….and you have heard the arguments for second amendment rights..yada, yada….what about the rights of those of us that don’t want to be around guns? Then the argument from the gun nuts goes that those who carry guns have to be trained, licensed, etc. and you’ll be happy to have one of them around when you’re getting robbed. Then my argument goes that they are responsible gun owners until they’re not…until they snap from whatever and start shooting. Well…that happened just yesterday when two “responsible” gun owners had a shootout after a road rage incident and both of them ended up dead. Both had licenses to carry their handguns but both of them snapped…what would have happened if only one of them had a gun? Another person would have been killed by a “responsible” gun owner…and it wouldn’t make him or her any less dead. What if there would have other people in the car wash where they chose to have their gun battle? Do we just chalk them up to be collateral damage and just shrug our shoulders and say “oh, well”? I have had enough of having to change my behavior just so these idiots can look like a big man with his piece strapped to his waist…it is time to stop this crap and restore some sanity to our lives…geez…
