Well…it has been a weird synthesis that has happened over the day today with reading a bunch of articles the were seemingly unrelated, but then a light came on and an idea slowly came to me about the controversy where union members don’t have any say when their dues are used for political donations and the repubs howling about it and trying to write laws to eliminate this use of those dues. Then it came to me…what is the difference between unions using their dues to support political candidates they like and corporations cutting peoples pay and then taking the money they save and giving it to their candidates? I’ve never heard a repub bitch about corporate giving or proposing any laws that would restrict it…and I’ve never heard of any corporation asking their employees to vote on what candidates or causes are supported….so, again, the hypocrites on the right have it wrong..but they are so used to having it both ways that they can’t see their hypocrisy…or better yet, they won’t see it because they don’t believe in truth…geez…

More Mitt nonsense…
Well…it was an interesting little sound bite that came out of the morning news shows with ole Mitt when he came out and said “I’m not concerned about the poor…they have their safety nets”…I can’t believe how wrong this is on so many levels, especially when his party has made it’s their life’s work to end the safety net as we know it with their opposition to unemployment benefits and their efforts to gut medicaid, medicare, and social security. He then went on to say that his concern is for the middle class and making sure it is strong…yeah, right, Mitt…you were really concerned at Bain when you reaped millions of dollars in profits personally by hacking up companies and stealing the assets while leaving the employees holding the bag…something that you are still profiting from to this day and it is just a lie that you give a damn about anyone but your isolated buddies in the 1% that live in their gated enclaves with their legacy admissions to the best colleges and their lives of privilege. If that sounds like “envy’ you are wrong…it is anger at the self-perpetuating nonsense pushed by the repubs that won’t allow people like me to work anymore…that just because of my age there is no place for me when I have the education and the skills the repubs are always saying the workforce lacks…so, Mitt, take your Freudian slip and go back to your 10 houses and leave the rest of us alone….geez…
February 1st
Well…another month gone by and I’m still idling, looking for work with my hope for ever finding work again slipping away as the days pass….but I won’t let it get me down…there is still life to live even thought it’s not the one I ever expected…and it was a no cocktail night last night so I feel okay today…still trying to sleep and might have to go back to the OTC sleeping pills for a while…I think part of the soreness that I have been feeling lately is from all of the tossing and turning that I do at night…the sheets were twisted into a rope after last night….the Wings did win last night but I didn’t see the third…it was just time to hit the sack when it started but that is the problem with west coast swings….the next two are 10 pm games and that is just way too late to see the whole thing…not much to do today…have to run a bunch of errands and then back her for more of the same…there should be politics for later so come on back….
Oh, it might be warm enough today to get back on the bike….I hope the 50 plus weather has melted the snow off the trails…I guess I’ll find out later this morning…
I’ve already made the goal…
Well…just looked at the count for the month and realized that I’ve already made my goal of two per day for the month…but, I thought I’d do another one just for the hell of it..don’t know if I have very much to say but I’m going to say it anyway…I did get the papers out for recycling as I said I would but that is about it…I think I’m going to stay on this topic for a while…that the intelligence and memory of the people in the US must be questioned when polls come out that put Romney and Obama almost even in the general election….I can still remember the Bush years…the unfunded wars we were lied into, the erosion of our civil liberties, the shredding of the constitution, the continued concentration of wealth in the top 1% while the rest of the country struggles….let’s say it again…all of the problems we have now are a direct result of repub policies and they are promising more of the same if elected…they are planning to gut social security and medicare while giving tax breaks to the rich that will give them an AVERAGE of $146,000 cut while raising them on everyone else. No society can survive when one percent of the country controls everything….
I have one question to ask…why can’t ceo’s take only half of their outrageous pay and give pay raises to the people that work for them? This one move would put billions if not trillions of dollars into the hands of people who would spend it, increasing demand across the entire economy and putting people back to work….just saying….
January 31st
Well…another night gone by and with it the month…I did have fun out with G for a while but then back here to just veg…I can’t wait for the Wings to play tonight, it has been almost a week since they played last and I have gone through withdrawal…it looks like a mild day today with 50 for the high and I am a little disappointed that there is snow on the trails and I can’t go ride….but, it’s a countdown now for the end of winter and surviving February is basically my only goal….not much to do today…I will probably just clean and put the papers out for recycling….okay, not feeling it again so I’m going to quit and come back later…only one more to go to meet the goal for the month so maybe I’ll make it a good one…
People have no memory…
Well…watched an interesting show on PBS last night with Bill Moyers looking into the reasons behind the financial meltdown and one of the things that I now understand is how bi-partisan the blame is….both parties were involved with the repeal of Glass-Steagall that allowed the banks to do what they did…but what I don’t understand is why no one remembers that it was the lack of regulation that led to the banks being able to monetize mortgages and make trillions in fees selling them to unsuspecting investors when they knew they were worthless. Why is no one calling out the repubs when they continue to cry deregulate, deregulate, deregulate….it is exactly the same thing they were saying in the 90′s and we all know where that left us….I do understand that regulation has costs but I don’t know of a better example of how much this deregulation nonsense costs, too….millions of homeowners losing their homes, millions of real people losing their savings, and millions of workers losing their jobs…..but that doesn’t matter to the repubs..the only thing that matters to them is to beat Obama….and that could happen if we continue to have amnesia about the near past…
January 30th
Well…another day, another night, another morning, and they are all running together to the point that I’m having a hard time keeping track of what day it is….but, that is part of being old and unemployed and I’ll just have to get used to it…didn’t do much yesterday but watch the race and veg so I don’t have a lot to report…so, I’ll come back later and report it….not feeling it right now….
Okay…just got done with some work on C’s house and back here now to get back into the routine for the day…I do need to have lunch and then I’m going to work out and send some resumes…it looks like another wasted day but I’ll do my best to at least amuse myself…and I will come back for a political one later…
January 29th
Well…it was a day yesterday and had a little fun going out to meet up with the twins and V…it was nice to get out for while and to have the cash to do it…after that, it was just the normal thing of hanging out around here and watching the 24 hours of Daytona that I am waiting to come back on here in a few minutes for another 6 hours…it will be a nice screensaver for the day while I get some stuff done around here. No dreams to speak of…I know I had some but I don’t remember them so I guess it’s about the same thing as not having them…more snow last night and today and that is damn depressing but I guess I’ll live through it…after all, it has been a pretty good winter and only another month to go…I may have another one today but probably not…I am on pace for the month and I just don’t have the outrage necessary for me to be lucid…
January 28th
Well…running late this morning and part of it is the snow we had last night that took the air out of me and shifted me into a lower gear…but I survived it and got the papers and I’m now ensconced here for the day with Man U playing right now and the first race of the year coming on later in the day. I just love the 24 hours of Daytona and Speed has 7 1/2 hours of coverage on today so that will give me something to watch all day…..I did sleep okay last night but it was cocktail driven so I don’t know if that counts or not….other than that, not much to do today…might have a couple with K later but I’m not sure about that…I am going to make another pizza today with a scratch crust so that will be something to look forward to…going back to Man U….more later…
I think this is part two…
Well….I have been thinking about politics for some time today and have had a heck of a time coming up with a topic that would mean something..I mean I could go off on ole Mitt’s Swiss bank accounts or his tax shelters in the Cayman Islands…but that would be an easy target that I have already touched on here and I just can’t get worked up about a repeat…I did go out for a bike ride today after the flat yesterday but I was on edge the whole time waiting for it to go flat again even though I put a new tube in it…but, it looks like today was the last one for a week or so and that may be good since I am sore everywhere….I could go off on ole Newt for his wild ass promise that he will put a base on the moon if he is elected….good luck with that Newt….you’ll never get that through even a repub controlled Congress when they won’t even approve fixing the crumbling roads and bridges that cover the country…okay….that’s about it for the day so I’ll say come back tomorrow and see if I get better…it’s almost 1500 of these…it has to happen sometime…
