Well…a pretty good sports night last night with both Michigan and the Wings winning…but Michigan looked really bad in doing it so there was a lot of luck involved…and it was a cocktail night so I went to bed early and feel a little crappy today…but I am taking the rest of the week off so the liver will get a rest….no dreams to report…or anything else, really…did have a couple with T yesterday and it is always great to see her and laugh a bit…not much to do today…going to just lay low for a while and hang out…I will be back with some politics to kind of recap the Iowa nonsense…more later…
A few things..
Well…just a few things that I want to comment on this morning to try to get back in the swing of things and get some political commentary going again…first…I just can’t wait for the Iowa nonsense to be over and done with…and I am glad I don’t live there to have to listen to and see all of the political ads that have dominated the airwaves…but there will be one bright spot to come out of today..or maybe two…we probably won’t have to listen to Michelle Bachmann or Rick Perry any more since they are both likely to finish well back in the pack…I don’t know why anyone listened to them anyway…they are two of the most stupid sounding politicians that I have ever heard…and I’ve been around a long time. I really can’t wait until they start to hammer ole Mitt on his claims to have created over 100K jobs while at Bain Capital when it is just not true…never created one job….remember that folks…never created one job and I look forward to him having to really answer for his destructive reign there and personally profiting in the hundreds of millions of dollars while he and his cronies looted companies that would still be alive if it weren’t for them.
Oh, one last thing….I see that the incestuous right wing media nonsense continues in today’s Detroit News where they treat their house dog Manny Lopez as an independent writer when they published his screed about Obama’s vacation and ole Manny’s contention that Obama can’t care about the 99 percenters since he is one of the one percent. The first thing to me is that there should be disclosure that Manny is regular columnist at the News and to make it look like he is an independent “other voice” is just dishonest and only adds to the echo chamber that is the right wing media. The more salient point to make here, though, is that Obama worked hard and achieved his way to the one percenter that he is…he didn’t have mommy or daddy start him on third base and tell him he hit a triple…geez….
January 3rd
Well…up early again this morning and I feel a little out of it like normal…it was an okay day yesterday with State winning in OT but the rest of the Big Ten really sucked and they lost every other game…at least we still have Michigan playing tonight and the Wings are on, too, so that will be a good way to pass the time…winter is finally here and it is 19 degrees outside…I know it was coming but that doesn’t make it any easier…it was nice to go out to watch part of the State game yesterday just to get out of here…not much to do today…going to just hang out here today and then have to meet up with T later and I am looking forward to that…and I am already 2 behind for the month so I’ll be back here to get caught up…more later…

January 2nd
Well…it was a long day yesterday and the Lions lost so that put a damper on the day somewhat…but it was a good game so that was a plus…and I didn’t sleep all that well so I’m dragging some today….just sitting here thinking if I should go and clear the snow from the car and go out for the papers but it’s cold and I don’t want to…not much to do today but football and more football…and the winter classic outdoor hockey game…so I should be able to keep myself amused…who knows if I’ll be back for another one…I will try, though…
Okay…I feel like I’ve been cheating for the last couple of weeks and need to get my act together here…the problem has been that I just don’t have a lot to say right now…I did go out and get the papers and I’ve already worked out so that basically finishes up what I had planned to do for the day…I guess I could clean up the kitchen before the football starts but I’m just going to cook again later so maybe that should wait…see…not really anything to say so I’ll stop, again….
January 1st
Well…another night and a good Wings win so I feel better than I should…no, that’s not true…it was such a chore to just go out and get the paper that I think I may have to take a rest…there is an Ab Fab marathon on so that will be good to do for the day as I rest here and heal the wounds…and no, there is nothing earth shaking or revelatory that I’m going to put down here just because it’s the start of a new year…it’s just another day to me…I will come back later to add to this one but right now I need more coffee and the couch…
Finishing the year…
Well…I was going to do a political one to end the year…or maybe a wrap up on how bad the year has been..but then I saw the coolest sunset in the way home and could almost smile again…it was filled with blues, pinks, purples, and reds and all I could do was marvel at how neat it was….and I won at pool for the first time in 4 weeks but we both were really off our games but it was still fun…turned the car over to 291 thousand miles on the way home and I think there may be something there but I don’t know what that is…..okay…this was kind of a filler to get to the goal but it meant something to me so maybe that’s enough? Happy New Year and I’ll talk to you tomorrow…
December 31st
Well….it’s the last day of the year and I really don’t know what the significance is….it seems that all of my days just run together and it is just a Saturday for me…it was an okay day yesterday but nothing happened other than coffee and newspapers…I did have cocktails last night so I don’t feel that hot today but I will get a ride in this morning that will help..the Wings looked bad last night and lost to the Blackhawks but they play again tonight so maybe they can redeem themselves…I did have dreams last night but they were crappy so I won’t share right now…not much to do today…just going to hunker down here and hang out for the day and night..might clean some but I’m not really motivated to do that right now…it’s a good thought but that’s just it…a thought, nothing else…I will be back later for one more since I need it to make the quota…I do need to get back to Man U since they are behind to Blackburn…yow…
Let’s do some sports…
Well…it is a big sports weekend so I thought I’d just noodle around a little and comment on a few things that have caught my eye and that are rattling around in my head. First…when have they ever moved the college bowl games from January 1st? It is just too weird to have all of the games on the 2nd and have pro games on the 1st….but it is cool to have the Lions playing the Packers Sunday…and a friend of mine is going to be in the stands at Lambeau Field in the cold and I hope she has fun…it looks like the Packers are going to rest a lot of their starters so we may have a chance to get to an 11-5 season which would be really cool. The Wings have been playing well at times but I really want to see what they can do if they play a whole game instead of just parts of them….but, their record over the last 15 is pretty good so I guess I shouldn’t bitch too much…and they play Chicago tonight which I am really looking forward to and to the game tomorrow which is a rematch with the Blues from Tuesday night…one that we won but it was a trial at times. Okay, that’s enough for this one…I may come back and add to it if something strikes me…if it does, I hope it doesn’t hurt…
Have to comment on ole Nolan…
Well…I was just reading the Detroit News (yeah, I know, it will rot my brain but I do need topics) and a little article from ole Nolan caught my eye for its nonsense that blames Democrats and liberals for the financial problems that beset Detroit. Nolan, Nolan, Nolan….how stupid are you? I will admit that Detroit has been looted by mismanagement over the years and has never been a model for good government, but, to blame the loss of population and the shipping of jobs overseas on the democrats is to blame the victim for having his life stolen from him. It is the republican party’s pro business policies that have led to outsourcing; to moving auto jobs to Mexico taking millions of other support jobs that used to pay a living wage but now, what jobs are left, don’t pay enough to pay taxes on let alone add to the tax base that has fled. So, Nolan, your anti labor and anti human screeds are getting tiring…how can you have so much hate inside and still call yourself a human being? Geez….
December 30th
Well…had a pretty nice day yesterday with lunch with T being the highlight and then a few cocktails last night so I feel a little crappy today…not really, just tired from the poor sleep and flopping around all night. It’s almost another month gone and still no bites on the job front and I am getting numb from the process….I hope that January will be better and someone will think that I have something to offer….still haven’t given up hope but it does get harder every day to keep a happy face on it…oh, well….not much to do today…I do have to go back to Meijers since I came into some money yesterday and I need coffee and some other stuff…but that is about it…the Wings do play tonight so that will be something to look forward to and it looks like I’ll be able to get a bike ride in, too so maybe it won’t be such a bad day…more later…
