Well…this one just popped into my head about an article that I saw a few days ago that said that the current congress is the richest one in the history of the country with the current crop’s net worth being 10 times the average Americans, and this points to one of the problems that I see with the country right now: that everyone but the workers are doing well. Corporations have the highest highest retained earnings of any time in history and CEO pay is at it’s highest in relation to worker’s pay since statistics have been kept…why doesn’t anyone connect the dots here? We have the rich in congress making laws for the rich bought and paid for by corporations that have done nothing but stagnate the income of the middle class (or, in real dollars have shrunk the income of the middle) and we wonder why no one is spending, we wonder why the economy can’t stop sputtering and start to move again? Until the middle gets a true share of their contribution to the economy and the rich stop taking more and more, we are doomed to just idle, to look at tiny slivers of hope and blow them out of proportion just because we want to believe that the American dream still exists…I’ve got news for you….it’s already gone…geez….
December 28th
Well…had a little fun last night with going out to watch the Wings with M and they even won…but ran through the rest of the cash I had so it looks like I’m going to be staying in this morning and skipping coffee…might not be a bad idea anyway. I do need to get those resumes out and work out..but it looks like no bike ride today since it is going to be cold and icy and I really don’t wan to crash and burn…and maybe the boredom will motivate me to get a few of these out today and even be a little lucid…but possibly that is a little too much to ask…not much to do today…as I said, no coffee or papers today…I did kind of go over that already didn’t I? So, I’ll end it here and just say more later…

Well…can you tell that I am getting a little desperate here trying to get to my goals? I did have an okay day today and I thought I’d get one more out before I go out to watch the Wings game with Micah….I did get a bunch of stuff done today and that included going out for a couple with G….and she gave me a bunch of cookies she made for Christmas…not normally a sweets person but it will be nice to have a snack later tonight….okay…I am feeling really guilty about this one so maybe I won’t count it….and it is getting time to go out the door so I have to find my gear and start getting ready….it is kind of hared when the idiots in Washington are out of town…just no new stupidity for me to comment on….
Boehner is still an idiot….
Well…just a little short one to comment on the jaw dropping comment that ole John made after the dustup over the extension of the middle class payroll tax cut that was resolved last week. The quote goes like this: “…we fought the good fight. Why not do the right thing for the American people even thought it’s not what we (the republicans) want? What a revaltory statement that I’m sure he didn’t want to make…he’s just not that bright but it did lay bare the repubs contempt for the American people and our country that is held by these folks….that they don’t give a damn about anyone but the party and those of the 1% that bankroll it and buy repub seats in congress. I hope Boehner’s comments are plastered across the media for the next year and Obama keeps hammering them on their lack of concern for anyone but themselves….geez…
December 27th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday with meeting up with K and K for a couple and then the Wings winning an away game…they won the game but looked slow in the process….it will be interesting to see what team comes out tonight…it was a no cocktail night last night so I feel okay this morning…but it is snowing outside and that really takes my mood down a notch…I really shouldn’t complain, though, since it is the 5th least snowy December since records have been kept….and all of it should melt later in the day so I may be able to get a ride in…not much to do today…I am going out later to hang out with Micah and watch the game but that is about it….might have some stuff to do around here today, too, but I’m not sure what my level of commitment is yet…I do need to get in gear here since I am really behind and need to get to 62 for the month…might be a little trouble but it’s worth a try…
Okay, might be cheating here…
Well….had a nice morning and prime rib for lunch and I thought I’d come back for a couple of minutes and just noodle around a bit….it’s been kind of a trying week or so and I’m not sure why…have been really tired lately and it is showing up in dead legs on the bike…oh, well…there hasn’t been any trail weirdness to report or any dreams either, and I am getting kind of concerned with that…something is out of whack and I’m not sure how to fix it…so I won’t think about it for now…
Oh, there is one thing in politics that I find funny…what is the state of the republican party when even George Will is going after other republicans? In his column yesterday..or today, I’m not sure…ole George went after Newt for his crazy assed attacks on the judicial branch of the government….something that I commented on a few days ago and, even though it’s very seldom that I agree with or even read one of George’s columns, it was good to see some sanity from the right for a change. But, I would prefer that they stay as crazy as they are….because then the only constituency they will have left will be the tinfoil-hat crowd….
December 26th
Well…as you can see, I didn’t come back for another one yesterday…didn’t do much, really…just cooked and stayed in since I was not feeling social and couldn’t muster up the ambition to get dressed and go out…but, the food came out good and I had a great meal so that was something…I think the malaise has continued into today sine it is getting to coffee time and I really don’t know if I’m going to go out or not…this used to be my favorite day of the year when I used to celebrate the holidays since all of the work was done and I could relax until after the 1st….I think it’s the same thing I feel about weekends now,,,that they just don’t have any meaning when you are not working….not much to do today….will probably just hang out here and get a bike ride in….I am going to try to get more out since I do need to get to the goal…more later…
December 25th
Well…another day but the good news is that the Lions won and got into the playoffs for the the first time since 1999…and it was even a pretty good game…but then it turned boring and the cocktails didn’t even work…back up at 4:30 and I’m just lazing around here right now waiting for time to pass a little before I go out to get the paper…just can’t get motivated to do much right now so I’m not going to do anything…not much to do today…going to make that rib roast and then just hang out here…it is already 39 degrees so I will be able to get out on the bike this morning…but it’s a leisure ride today, going to take it easy even doing that today…I am looking forward to a big slab of beef for later…and I will come back for another one since I’m behind for the month…
December 24th
Well…it was another day yesterday…just like the thousands of others that I’ve survived and that’s something, I guess. I did get a bunch of stuff done around here and the place is starting to look acceptable again so that’s a plus….no dreams or anything to report and I was good last night so I feel okay today…not that happy that there is a coating of snow on the ground but it is December in Michigan so you really do have to expect it…you don’t have to like it but you do have to accept that it will happen at some point…and, compared to last year, it has been okay so far…and the winter solstice has come and gone so the gloom will start to shorten every day…only two more months of winter…see, I can be an optimist…not much to do today…just going to lay low and try not to spend any money..and watch the Lions break my heart again today….I guess that’s another thing like Michigan winter…you know it’s coming but there really is nothing you can do about it…more later…or not, it is the weekend, after all…
Is Michelle Malkin a human being?
Well…normally, I wouldn’t even concern myself with the half-baked nonsense that Michelle Malkin writes since her screeds make my brain hurt when I read them….but, today, I just had to comment on her downright gleeful take on the struggles of the L.A. school district to supply better meals to the children that go to school there. She deems the whole venture to upgrade the lunches a failure since the children “voted with their stomachs” and liked the old high-fat meals of pizza and chicken nuggets better. Of course kids are going to like the food they have been taught to like through billions of dollars of advertising…and I do admit that high fat, fried foods taste good, but to not even try to stem the obesity epidemic would be a gross abandonment of our responsibilities as adults and the only thing Michelle Obama is trying to do is to use her voice to try to educate people on how to eat better for a healthier life. But, as always, ole Michelle sees it as a sinister plot to have the government take over all aspects of everyone’s life but then throws in that the program in L.A. is a failure because they have provided health benefits for part time cafeteria workers. Geez, Michelle, who taught you to hate so much? Just another shill for the right wing conspiracy to take everything from the 99% and give it to the 1%…
