November 7th

Well…another night, more tv, and that was about it….I am really bored….but I did have some really weird dreams that had crazy cab drivers, my daughter going to school at 14, and work where I couldn’t find my office…I think that one is a variation on the can’t find the class college one that I have frequently….there is a spider alert going on here today since I got webs across my face when I walked out of my bedroom…and that is really creepy and I still can feel them in my hair….I was up at 5 but with daylight savings over it gets light pretty early….that doesn’t have anything to do with anything…..and I am tired of doing this right now so I’m going to come back later…

Okay, I’m back for a couple of minutes…I did get the bike ride in but the tooth is still throbbing and I hope that the salt water will help that….looks like a pool day today and I am getting ready to go out and do that…I will try to come back for another one later…

Here’s the lyric: “late one night I was walking in the valley of hearts…spirit came to me and said…you gotta move to start….you’ve gotta take the first step….you gotta crawl to be tall…then she told me something I’ll never forget…..you’ve got love to burn…”

The one reason that people should be for unions…

Well…I know I said that I wasn’t going to do a political one today but this little thing popped into my head and I had to comment on it…to all of you out there that are in the working class and you are against unions, there is only one reason that you need to be for unions….they force companies to share the bounty of profits with everyone, with the hard workers that make the profits possible, not just the executive officers of the company. One of the reasons for the increasing disparity of income in this country is the decline of union membership over the past thirty years; form 25% down to the paltry 7% we have now. And, one of the worst offenders here in the US is Walmart who viciously opposes unionization of it’s North American workforce but allows it in every other country…well, not allows it but many other countries force them to allow their workers to unionize…or they are not allowed to be in those countries…not a bad idea for here, either…so, you tea partiers that have it in for unions and their members, it is you that is helping these thieves steal what is rightfully yours…..how does that feel you idiots?…..geez….

Another one….

Well…it’s only three o’clock and I am bored out of my mind….so, I thought I’d just sit here for a few minutes and take a crack at another one…and it will be just noodling around since I really don’t know what to write about…the bike ride was nice but way too much wind and I’ll be paying for it tomorrow…although, the ibuprofen I took for my sore tooth is helping that somewhat. The letdown from the hope of a new job has become complete and I think that may be part of why I feel a little low today….need to get back into the process of looking for work tomorrow but I am going to take the rest of the day off and just kind of wallow in the disappointment….but tomorrow will be better and you never know what will happen….I am going to see if I can get through the week with no money..and that means I’ll have to get by with the gas that is in the car..I think there’s only about a quarter of a tank left in it so it may be a stretch…and I’ll have to eat out of the freezer which means chicken, chicken, chicken all week but that is okay, too.

I was going to talk about politics but I think you’ve heard it all from me for a while so I’m going to give you a break today and just do this one….I am curious to see the results of the “leave the big banks” day that was Saturday and of the repeal of the union busting legislation that is on the ballot for the elections in Ohio Tuesday….the polls there say it is going to pass with a huge majority…I hope this sends a message to the repubs that the rest of us are just sick and tired of their attacks on middle class and poor….we can hope anyway…

November 6th

Well…another night at home and it is getting really boring but I guess I’ll live through it…didn’t remember that the clocks had to be turned back last night and I was a little confused this morning…but I lived through that, too and now the cobwebs are starting to clear…it is already 42 outside so I may be able to get the ride in this morning…probably one of the last times this year that will happen so I should enjoy it…no dreams or anything else to report but the Wings finally won one and that was enough to make my night. Not much to do today…with the Lions on a bye week that just leaves the race from Texas and some soccer to watch today…don’t have any cash so that rules out doing anything else but that’s okay….staying in builds character…or something…more later…

Here’s today’s lyric: “Your day breaks, your mind aches, you find that all her words of kindness linger on when she no longer needs you…”

Chuck Krauthammer is still an idiot…

Well…after the announcement that the US would be withdrawing all it’s troops from Iraq at the end of the year, the predictable howling started from the right, led, in part, by ole Chuck who savaged Obama on the “failure” of his diplomacy. Never mind that this agreement to withdraw the troops was negotiated by ole GW and his folks in 2008 and was hailed by these same neocon idiots as a wonderful success and a vindication of the lies that sent us to war. Once it was clear that the reasons for the invasion and war were lies, you remember that the reasons kept changing until they settled on the idea that the war was justified to bring democracy to Iraq. But, I guess that those reasons were a lie, too, if you listen to ole Chuck spout his nonsense that because we toppled Saddam, we have the right to stay in that sovereign country indefinitely; no matter what the people of Iraq want. What you don’t understand, Chuck, is that the democratically elected government of Iraq have said no thanks to our offer to stay…so what should we do? Re-invade and topple this government, too? This just shows the moral bankruptcy of the right….that they feel like the US can and should do whatever we want in the world and don’t have to abide by any treaty that we don’t like. The damage that folks like ole Chuck did to this country may be irreparable…why should anyone listen to them now?

November 5th

Well…a long day yesterday but I had some fun so that was okay…spent way too much cash so it looks like I’ll have to stay in for a while to make up for it….I did have dreams last night that were quite weird again with getting lost, dying plants, and bad mufflers in them…they did all fit together in a strange way…I am sore all over for some reason this morning and I think it may have been riding in the strong wind yesterday…and I have been grinding my teeth again that has given me an ache in my jaw again…I’m just a wreck today and will have to take it easy and recover….not much to do today…there is the Michigan game and I’m not sure if I’m going to watch the Wings later….and I will try to get another one out later since I was lazy yesterday…

Here’s the lyric: “In the valley of hearts there’s a house full of broken windows…cause the lovers inside just quarrel all the time…why’d you ruin my life?….where you taking my kid?…then they hold each other saying how did it come to this?….”

November 4th

Well…it was a busy day yesterday and I am looking forward to a little less today….I’m feeling a little uneasy about things lately and I’m not sure why…well…I kind of know why but I won’t share that right now….there were some dreams last night that included a boat that I used to own along with lots of people that I didn’t know…not nearly as weird as I like….not much else to say right now but I do have some things to do today…might have lunch with T…nope…that’s about it….more later…

I think the uneasiness is caused by the reality that this job is not going to pan out and I’ll be back to the daily grind of sending resumes and hoping something will happen….a disheartening state of life that wears on you after a while when you know that the chances of ever working again grow slimmer with each passing day…and this calls into question all of the tenets you’ve lived your life by…that hard work and education will be enough to ensure your success..but that is just not true anymore and I don’t know what replaces that yet…what are the new rules?

Still an “Occupy” supporter……

Well…from the start, I have been a supporter of the “Occupy” movement but I am starting to see some things I don’t really like…in Oakland yesterday there were some idiots who thought it would be a good idea to smash windows and do other acts of vandalism and I think it will hurt the movement in the long run if these folks are allowed to continue this lawlessness. It is a first amendment right to gather and protest, but it is just criminal behavior to allow these people to continue this nonsense. I don’t really place the blame on the “Occupy” organizers, since with any movement you get the outlier idiots that take it too far, but if they want to be taken seriously, some plan to find and remove these people should at least be in the works. I think we need to remember the right wing tricks of the sixties where people that were not members of the protests were sent in by the repubs to act badly and give the right excuses that could then be used to tar the whole movement. So, I would counsel vigilance at this point…to keep an eye out for this kind of shenanigan and to end it quickly when it happens….

November 3rd…

Well…another night and I had a little fun out with K for a couple but then back here for another night of boredom….but that was okay really….and I was somewhat good so I feel okay this morning….but up at 4:44 and I’m not sure why….so, there will be a nap in order for later this aft…although, I do have to go over to C’s rental and fix the toilet so he doesn’t have to come all the way back form Mt. P….other than that, not much to do to today…I do have another phone interview this morning but I don’t think that will take too long and then it’s the grocery run…not much more to say right now so I’m going to go watch a little “Burn Notice” and take it easy…more later…

Okay..I’m back and the morning has been a busy one…I did have the second phone interview and it went well…all they wanted to talk about was my personality and attitude and not my resume…most of the talk was how I would fit into the team there…feel okay about this one…maybe something will break my way….that would be cool….not sure if I have the lyric yet..so I’ll wait a while on that one…

The uncertainty boogeyman…

Well…I am getting a little tired of the…no, a lot tired of the talking point of the right that it is the uncertainty of the implementation of the healthcare law and other federal regulations that is keeping the economy from taking off. These assumptions are just a lot of hooey and speculation on the part of the right’s pundits and alleged experts…nothing more than a bunch of guesses that have no basis in history or fact. There is not one instance in the history of the American (or any other) economy that this type uncertainty has had anything to do with growth or job creation…in the face of slack demand that is rampant in our economy and the overcapacity that still exists, along with the productivity increases that have more than kept pace with that tepid growth….there is no reason for any business to hire anyone. But, the right is still using the lie of uncertainty to drive what is their main agenda…to remove any checks and balances and return us to the robber baron days of the early 20th century..or the deregulated financial days of the early 21st. This is just utter nonsense and ultimately highlights the lack of economic honesty in their arguments…it is all about demand…in this same environment of uncertainty, do you think that businesses wouldn’t hire if there were increased demand for their products or services? Geez….

What you never want to be….
