Well…running really late again today…I did have to go out for some groceries but I could have done this before….but, the heat is taking a lot out of me and the lack of sleep is not helping…might have to run the air tonight to just dry this place out…it was weird this morning when someone left me a gel seat cover hanging on my door….not sure if I’ll use it or not but it sure was different….I am sitting here at 9:30 and I’m already sweating through my clothes…it’s going to be a hot ride out there and I should get going before it gets too hot….other than that…not much to do today…going to just lay low and try to not dehydrate too much…more later…

Not sure what to write…
Well…haven’t been thinking too much about what to write today but I do need to find something so I don’t get too far behind….maybe I’ll take a second look at the papers and see if there is anything there….oh, maybe we should all boycott Florida until they become humans again…I mean, letting ole Zimmerman off for killing a kid but then putting a black woman in jail for 20 years for shooting at her boyfriend (and missing) while he was beating her? No matter what anyone says, racism is alive and well and institutionalized in Florida. Then we have the repubs across this country seemingly unable to do anything but think, talk, and legislate against abortion when even their constituents don’t want that crap from them…so who are they representing? I am damn tired of having these religious nuts getting their way when they only represent about 15% of the people, the hard right that wants to turn this country into a theocracy. Maybe there is a little hope with the filibuster deal that was reached in the senate today….as I’ve said, the repubs only respect power and that Harry Reid finally used his is a good sign…but ole Mitch McConnell acted like the spoiled brat he is and opposed it….now, ole Harry just needs to use the nuke when, not if, the repubs renege on the agreement…
July 16th
Well…as you can see, I didn’t come back for another yesterday…I have an excuse…and you know it…birthday and all of that…had a nice lunch with T and then out to dinner with G and then out for drinks after that so I am worn out today…and not feeling any different so that is a good sign…it is already hot outside (and inside) so it is going to be a chore to get on the bike…after all of the festivities from yesterday…I am looking forward to just having a normal recovery day today and then back at it tomorrow…not much to do today…as I said, just a normal recovery day and I think I will just let the day go as it goes…no ambition for anything else…more later…
July 15th
Well…the big day is finally here and I am still not sure how I feel about it…I mean, being 60 is okay…I really don’t feel any different than I did yesterday but it is still that I’m not in my fifties anymore…and it feels like the possibilities that were there in my 50′s are gradually going away….slept okay last night but it just doesn’t seem to mean much…okay, not feeling this right now so I’m going over to Kos and do a couple of comments…more later…

Well…I was hoping that this one would be the 2500th one that I’ve done…that would be some kind of cool coincidence..but, it’s not…only 2453 so I guess it’s nothing special…it’s just kind of weird to think that I’m not going to be in my 50′s any more in just a few hours….that is something that I am having a little trouble wrapping my head around….oh, well….I did take the drive down to the Gilmore museum today and it was kind of fun…only had three cars from the club on the drive but it was cool that we had an NA, an NB, and an NC on the drive so it was kind of a rolling show of the evolution of the Miata….other than that, it has been uneventful today….I think I’ll go make the final cocktails as a fifty something….and try not to dread the big 6-0….might even stay up til midnight just to see it come in….who knows?

July 14th
Well…it’s the last day of my 50′s and I’m not sure how I feel about that…it was an okay day yesterday and I finally won at pool again so that was okay…slept okay but repair dreams again for the car…not sure what that is about but I’m not going to think about it…I may take a drive down to k-zoo today to look at the british cars at the Gilmore museum…the Miata club is even driving down but I’m not sure I am going to go or not…that would mean skipping the bike ride and I’m not sure I want to have that much guilt today….okay…this isn’t really working so I am going to come back later for more…need some more coffee…
Texas is still the home of the war on women…
Well…as you know, the idiot repubs in Texas have been pandering to their rabid tea party supporters by pushing more and more illegal restrictions on womens rights culminating in the new, draconian restrictions on abortion that more that 65% of the people there (even repubs) do not want enacted. So, what is this about? It’s about control of women and their health…but this is not the first thing they have done…just this year, these same idiots slashed funding for family planning and other health services by almost 70%, making this necessary health care almost impossible to get if you are poor in Texas. But, this affected even more than the poor since Texas has the highest rate of uninsured people of any state…and you can see how much they just don’t give a damn about the people of Texas by the added rejection of the Medicaid expansion which will actually COST Texas billions of dollars in uncovered care that will happen in the emergency rooms across the state. All I can think of with this crap going on is these repubs are just not too bright, especially since an identical law has been thrown out in Wisconsin and is on the way to be deemed unconstitutional in at least three other states. I just can’t believe these guys are just standing around, waving the constitution and then spend all of their days passing laws that are unconstitutional that will cost their states millions in legal fees…I guess enriching your lawyer buddies is more important to them that spending those millions feeding people or providing healthcare….geez…
July 13th
Well…it was a long day with lots of traveling in it yesterday but the car was flawless…have to remember to use the sunscreen more since I have a pretty good burn from being in the car for 4 hours….but the dad stuff was successful so that’s a good thing…and got a surprise over there that I am going to have the second one engaged next Friday….I am pretty happy that the kids are all moving on in their lives…makes me smile…slept okay last night and had Miata repair dreams in the early morning that were okay…I did remember the old balled up newspaper trick to get the glass clean in the car and it worked pretty well so I am happy with that….not much to do today….and that one’s true…just the bike ride and cleaning…need to eat more today since I didn’t get to 1,000 cals yesterday and I am going to feel it today….more later
July 12th
Well…running late again today and there is no reason for it other than I’m just running late today…it was an okay day yesterday and I did get the car cleaned but have to do the windows again…have never had a car that it is so hard to get the film off the windows…and I do need to get it done now since I have to run over to the other side of the state today….no pool today but have some dad responsibilities to take care of…so, I’d better get the bike ride in and get started…want to be over there by noon or so…more later…
Idiots in charge…
Well…I had to laugh today when the governors of two of the hurricane prone states finally figured out the the austerity that they just love, along with the rest of the idiot repubs, is going to limit the preparations for hurricanes that the federal government can fund. The genius in Florida, Rick Scott, is now whining and crying that his national guard doesn’t have the money to train for disasters anymore so he and Bobby Jindal, another repub genius, are teaming up with a bunch of other repub governors to send a letter to Obama asking him to give them money so they don’t have to pay for them on their own. First, these guys just don’t have any idea who is responsible for legislation in the federal government…it is the repub controlled house you idiots…Obama can’t just appropriate money, that is the job of the house…so, if you really want to get things done instead of grandstanding and doing the only thing that repubs want to do, attack Obama, talk to your tea party buddies in the house and get them to end the sequester….geez…
