Politics?

Well…another budget showdown looms and I read one line from one of the hardline righties in the House that made me laugh my butt off…in defending the lowered funding in the sequester budget, one of these idiots said that the sequester is “the law of the land” and said that the dems should respect that. To quote Daffy Duck “it is to laugh”…from these same idiots who have railed against and tried to remove the ACA 41 times…which is also “the law of the land”, I wonder if they are so irony impaired that they don’t realize that this one is an ocean of irony? I long for the days when there were big politicians who could put party nonsense behind and do what is right for the country…which is not to continue to waste time taking insurance away from millions of Americans. There are days when I wonder if anything can be done to fix these idiots…probably not…geez…

Idiots in charge…

Well…I had to laugh today when the governors of two of the hurricane prone states finally figured out the the austerity that they just love, along with the rest of the idiot repubs, is going to limit the preparations for hurricanes that the federal government can fund. The genius in Florida, Rick Scott, is now whining and crying that his national guard doesn’t have the money to train for disasters anymore so he and Bobby Jindal, another repub genius, are teaming up with a bunch of other repub governors to send a letter to Obama asking him to give them money so they don’t have to pay for them on their own. First, these guys just don’t have any idea who is responsible for legislation in the federal government…it is the repub controlled house you idiots…Obama can’t just appropriate money, that is the job of the house…so, if you really want to get things done instead of grandstanding and doing the only thing that repubs want to do, attack Obama, talk to your tea party buddies in the house and get them to end the sequester….geez…

Okay, gonna cheat…

Well…needing one more to get the goal for the month…I am going to cheat a little and just free-form it a little and see what happens…it seems that there is a lull in politics right now other than the disdain that the repubs have for the cuts to programs for poor children that have come from the sequester…they are just fine with letting poor kids starve, but if one rich guy has to stand in line at the airport for an extra half hour, we just can’t have that…so they restore the cuts to aviation and propose cutting food stamps more to pay for it….have there ever been a more evil bunch than the repubs now in congress? Then, we have the idiots that voted against background checks and we now have the NRA running ads thanking them? Against the 90% of their constituents that wanted them? I am tired of having to wait years to have these idiots pay for it at the ballot box…but, keep it up repubs…people are starting to notice and you will pay the next time….what else? Nothing right now….just trying to hit the number…might be back to add to this one later if I think of something…

Some short comments…

Well…I am still laughing about the interview that the Romneys gave to Fox news the other day and the abject whining, whining, and more whining that ole Ann did again…you’ll remember her “campaigning is hard” comments from last year? Just more of the same of that crap this time…bitching about how when the campaign was over they were left alone and how they like to “give” so much…and the implied tone of the article was that it wasn’t enough to “give”, but they wanted to be thanked for it..thanked for helping screw up the country, thanked for just being such assholes…I wish they would just go away so we don’t have to hear from them ever again.

Oh, one last thing about austerity…if you want to see what the effects the sequester and it’s budget cuts are going to do, just look at what the same crap has done in Europe….record high unemployment and negative growth…let’s keep saying that…Keynes was right, again….

Okay…wanted to do one on Snyder and Detroit here but I’m just not feeling it today…I’ll be back later and try again…

Need to read the papers again…

Well…it has been a tough day to try to get a topic to do a whole one on but maybe I can think of something if I go back to read the papers again? Nope, that didn’t work yesterday so I guess I won’t do it again today….so, how to get a topic? maybe I’ll go back to the Post online…wait a sec and I’ll be right back…okay…Greg Sargent has a point that I can comment on…in all of the reporting on the sequester, it seems that the commentator class is making it out that both parties are equally responsible for the gridlock that is going on…not on your fricking life. It is all repubs, all the time…their refusal to agree to anything that doesn’t give them everything they want without compromise is what is the problem…and the great thing is, the American people agree that it is the repubs fault…nevermind their #obamaquester hashtag ( which I think is their only bow to technology) that they are using to try to shift the blame to Obama….it is all repubs, all the time…and I will keep repeating that all day…the repubs are just a bunch of fools who are believing their internal polling again while they ignore every truth in economics….they are the know nothing party, after all…geez…

Republicans and percentages…

Well…getting ready to go out and shoot pool…my only activity for the week…and I thought I’d just throw in one thought that we have to remember…just like the 47% comment that haunted the Romney election campaign…when ole Boehner agreed to the sequester and many, many repubs voted for it, his comments were that he got “98%” of what he wanted from Obama and the Dems…to me, that sounds like the whole sequester mess is laid squarely at the feet of the repubs…and i hope that Obama and the rest of the dems let it lie there like the steaming pile of crap that it is…all the sequester is is the congress not doing its job and taking the easy way out due to the crazy assed tea partiers that reside there…and the repubs really did think they were going to win the White House and then get everything they wanted…lower taxes on the rich and corporations, and the gutting of the social safety net…didn’t work out so well, did it? Now, all we have to do is continue to remind the country that it is the repubs who are responsible for the next two years and then we can throw them out..permanently…geez…

It time for us to become the party of no…

Well…I listen and listen to the folks that we re-elected and I only have one bit of advice for them..we need to become the party of no for a change…every time the repubs suggest that we cut benefits for the poor and seniors to subsidize the rich…we need to say no. Every time the repubs protect tax breaks for corporations and want to pay for them by raising taxes on the middle class we need to say no. Every time the repubs say that increased revenue from the rich can’t be on the table we have to say no. After all, the top tax rates were lowered under ole GW to cause the deficit mess we are in…why can’t they be raised to help pay the bills? Let’s not accept the crap the repubs are peddling that it is the dems fault because of “runaway spending”…as usual, they are wrong about that, too…spending as a percentage of gdp is far under the same measure for any repub administration since Eisenhower….one last thing I have to say for the dems that were elected to push the protection of the safety net and raise taxes on the rich…”just frickin do it”…the political climate has changed and you are the right side of the issues…grow a frickin backbone and do your damn job…geez…

Keynes was right…again…

Well…I wonder if the repubs in congress are getting whiplash from changing their positions so rapidly on government spending? With the new numbers out yesterday that showed that the economy contracted by .1 percent over the last quarter, the repubs are in full howl that they are right with their new position that we should cut more spending…never mind that during the campaign, they ran on the idea that the automatic sequester, that they agreed to, would push the economy back into recession. The consensus from real economists is that the contraction was caused by the huge cut in defense spending that happened over the last quarter…down almost 22% due to getting ready for the cuts to come if the sequester remains in place. What I find really funny about this whole thing is that the repubs did not believe any of the numbers coming out of the administration over the course of the campaign when they showed that the economy was growing and unemployment was falling…but now the repubs seize on this “government” number and loudly proclaim that they have leverage now for more spending cuts….can these folks get any more stupid? They keep trying…and succeeding…to the detriment of the rest of America…geez…

Oh…kind of buried the lead there…Keynes was right…cutting spending in a time of near recession will lead to lower growth….but the repubs don’t believe in facts…or Keynes….
