Well…the results are in and the dems did pretty damn good in the elections yesterday…expanding their house margins in Pennsylvania, flipping the house in Virginia, keeping the Governors office in Kentucky, and voters enshrined abortion rights into the constitution in Ohio…and that one was by around 60% of voters…so abortion is still the issue across the country and everywhere that it has been on the ballot since Roe fell has passed it…so the dems need to keep hammering on that fact…polling says that almost 70% of the people want those rights to be returned…even in red states that are doing their best to criminalize women’s healthcare….like the new laws being passed all over Texas that makes it illegal to travel through many counties to seek reproductive care….I have to thank the folks that worked tirelessly to defeat the repub cheating in Ohio as they threw everything but the kitchen sink at it to try lie to people and saying that the moon will fall if people voted to protect women’s rights…so, let’s keep it up, no matter what the polls say…We can take back the house next year and expand our margin in the senate…and Biden has said if they do that and re-elect him, Roe will be codified as law in January 2025…let’s do it…

Rigging didn’t work in Ohio…
Well…the repubs know they have no ideas that anyone wants so of course they are still trying to rig elections across the country…just yesterday, their attempt to do more rigging in Ohio failed by 13 points…they knew that the abortion rights initiative that is on the ballot this fall that would change their constitution will probably pass and would make the 6 week ban the repubs jammed through after Dobbs moot…so instead of listening to the will of the people, the repubs tried to change the way citizen initiatives are run, requiring that they get 60% of the vote instead of 50% and requiring that signatures be gathered in every county…making the process so hard that no initiative would ever make the ballot again…and they scheduled the vote in the summer where they hoped that no one would show up…but, as across the rest of the US, the will of the people won and now reproductive rights will pass in the fall election…and abortion bans continue to be a loser for the repubs when over 70% of the people in the US think it should be safe and legal….so, keep it up repubs and you’ll never win another election…that would be joyous…geez…
Elections matter….
Well…yesterday was the first election since the corrupt supreme court overturned Roe and all of the pundits who said that the ruling wouldn’t have much of an effect were just flat out wrong…especially in Kansas, a blood red state, that voted to keep the right to an abortion in the state constitution by an almost 20% margin with turnout that exceeded any primary in the state’s history…and I think that shows that our side is pretty damn motivated and will turn out in November…it is looking like we may even gain seats in the senate and possibly hold onto the house if our side just gets off it’s ass and spends an hour to vote….or here in Michigan, just get a permanent absentee ballot and vote from home like I do…..and do that because elections matter and we can have nice things again if we just vote all the repubs out and elect people from the reality based world….and remember, there is a constitutional amendment on this fall’s ballot that will enshrine women’s rights in the constitution…and if for no other reason, vote for that and let’s show the rest of the country that Michigan will not let a corrupt supreme court take away women’s rights…it’s the least we can do…
How terrible are the repubs?
Well…sitting here watching Man U play in Austria in an empty stadium and it is really weird that there is just the noise of the players and coaches…but that’s not what this is about…did you see the debacle of a speech that the idiot trump did last night? I sure didn’t but I read enough about it to know it was the worst speech in presidential history….and the financial markets thought that, too with the dow futures market falling over a thousand points while the speech was going on…and that carnage continued this morning with the dow circuit breakers kicking in and suspending trading about 10 minutes after the market opened and losses hit 8%…it continued to fall until it was down almost 2,500 points and has recovered a bit but it is still down by 1,800 points at 2 pm this afternoon…and you know about that “greatest of all time” stock market that the blowhard in chief has been crowing about? It has lost all of the gains since the idiot boy was installed by Putin…down almost 8,000 points just since Feb 12th…and what did the repubs in the senate do with this carnage and the potential death of hundreds of thousands of American lives? Moscow mitch scheduled a recess that they were supposed to leave on today but the public outcry shamed them into staying in Washington to work on the bills necessary to fund the coronavirus response…and here’s the really terrible part…they are so ideology driven that they just can’t help but try to put abortion restrictions into the bill that they know will be DOA in the House but they don’t care…they are fine with wasting time and killing real people so they can impose more restrictions on women’s lives…these assholes are going to be know as the murderers of millions if they keep playing their games…that is how terrible the repubs are…
Notorious RBG is at it again….
Well….just read a little story that was part of the landmark abortion rights win for women this week and the assent that was written by Ruth Bader Ginsberg….she basically put all of the repubs in the counrty on notice to stop the damn TRAP laws that don’t do anything to protect a women’s health by saying that none of these laws will pass muster since their only purpose it to make abortions harder to get. And today, the people who won the Texas case filed suit in Alabama since they have the same type of nonsense law that was thrown out in Texas….all I have to say is it’s about time that the courts started protecting women’s rights to control their own bodies…keep it up RBG….
A good day for women…
Well…it is a good day for women’s rights today with the supreme court decision striking down a particularly onerous anti abortion law in Texas. In a total repudiation of so called “TRAP” laws that try to eliminate a woman’s right to choose by putting severe restrictions on the providers, the court ruled that the laws requiring doctors who perform abortions to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital and that the clinics need to be mini hospitals were unconstitutional and placed an “undue burden” on women seeking abortions. So, that means that the 13 repub controlled states that have passed these laws will no longer be able to enforce this intrusion into the private decisions that a woman can make about her own health….and I hope will give these asses pause when they try to think up even more creative ways to deny women their rights. Yeah….I know, there is no stopping the repubs as they take away women’s rights, voting rights, and anyone else’s rights that they don’t personally agree with….but, I’ll take this decision today….
What the hell is wrong with Kansas?
Well…just got back from a drive int he car and read this jaw dropping piece of crap out of Kansas…an anti-abortion protester whose group has been behind the efforts to close the last clinic there has come up with a novel idea….he went to the Kansas City city council and told them that the clinic should be closed since there could be “gun violence” there with the escorts of the women needing these services being armed…no matter that all of the gun violence there has been by people from the anti groups shooting the doctors that perform this service….what this amounts to is the old protection racket the the mob used to do…close down these clinics or we won’t be responsible for what happens to them…and it’s not our fault if someone shoots someone associated with the clinic…wink, wink…what this ass is saying is a blatant threat that another crazy will take as a call to action…he should be arrested at least for inciting violence or even for incitement to murder….when are the rest of the people in that state going to tire of this kind of crap? That some crazy assed religious nut can impose his crazy assed religion on everyone? I’ve had enough of this crap…geez..
Texas is still the home of the war on women…
Well…as you know, the idiot repubs in Texas have been pandering to their rabid tea party supporters by pushing more and more illegal restrictions on womens rights culminating in the new, draconian restrictions on abortion that more that 65% of the people there (even repubs) do not want enacted. So, what is this about? It’s about control of women and their health…but this is not the first thing they have done…just this year, these same idiots slashed funding for family planning and other health services by almost 70%, making this necessary health care almost impossible to get if you are poor in Texas. But, this affected even more than the poor since Texas has the highest rate of uninsured people of any state…and you can see how much they just don’t give a damn about the people of Texas by the added rejection of the Medicaid expansion which will actually COST Texas billions of dollars in uncovered care that will happen in the emergency rooms across the state. All I can think of with this crap going on is these repubs are just not too bright, especially since an identical law has been thrown out in Wisconsin and is on the way to be deemed unconstitutional in at least three other states. I just can’t believe these guys are just standing around, waving the constitution and then spend all of their days passing laws that are unconstitutional that will cost their states millions in legal fees…I guess enriching your lawyer buddies is more important to them that spending those millions feeding people or providing healthcare….geez…

Well…it has been a slow, slow day for me so far and I think I may have popped something on the bike ride today…got a stabbing pain in my abdomen after a sprint that is still with me…oh, well…as the title says, I am not sure about this one….but, I thought I’d just get started and see what happens…there was some good news for womens rights in Wisconsin this week when a federal court judge stopped part of the new, draconian abortion law there from going into effect…and the good thing was the grounds he stopped it…the judge said that the part of the new law that mandated admitting privileges for the doctors performing abortions did nothing to improve the safety for women so he struck it down….now, I just hope that the ACLU and other organizations fighting for womens rights keep bringing suits on the same grounds….there is no medical need for a women to have an ultrasound before an abortion so i think it would be the next point of attack…and then strike down the lies that the legislators in Kansas have written into their law…we can only hope that when the people in the states that are attacking women get the bill for their folly, they will finally throw these idiots out…geez…
The irony in Texas…
Well….it is another bad day for women in the US with the Texas legislature following their illegal attempt to take away womens ability to control there own bodies from last week with another attempt to ram through the same SB-5 in another special session this week. And, these tea party idiots who wave the constitution around like it is the Bible are making sure that no one will be allowed into the legislative session by posting hundreds of armed police outside the state house in Austin…even bringing in mounted police to intimidate the protesters who are exercising their constitutionally protected rights to protest…and the idiot repubs there can’t see the irony that in this supposed utopia of democracy that they have built in Texas, they are using the same tactics that the Egyptian military used against the pro-democracy demonstrations in Tarhir square. Don’t they see that they are no better than the Taliban in their push to control women? They are just substituting their brand of radical crazy assed religion for the radical crazy assed Muslims…and that is just frickin wrong. I know they will win today…but, I really don’t think they understand that winning a tactical victory is going to lose them the war in 2014 when these assholes are thrown out and sanity is restored…I hope it happens here in Michigan and in Ohio, too…the tide is finally turning in our favor and all we have to do is use these new laws that treat women like second class citizens to beat these idiots across the head with them…geez…
