Well…that was a little better…didn’t get up til almost 6 this morning and it would be nice to get to 7 sometime…don’t feel as sore as normal this morning and I can’t figure that out other than I only did one ride yesterday…but I was really sore last night so that’s a little confusing…but, I’ll take it as long as it lasts…and you know I’ll do two today and make everything hurt again…not sure how to react to not hurting…damn, I just noticed that I still have white paint in the cuticles on my hands and I wonder how long it will be before that doesn’t happen anymore? Didn’t get anything done here yesterday but I do need to clean some today and cook some chicken before it goes bad…still have three breasts to cook for sandwiches and I’m not sure how to prepare them…maybe I’ll make a new rub…none of the ones I have been using lately has really grabbed me and I just got some Italian seasoning from aldi’s that I want to try…I think I need a day off so I may just do that today and just watch soccer after the bike ride..I’m already getting tired just sitting here and that is not a good way to start the day…more later…
A damn busy day…
Well…as you can see, I didn’t come back for a political one today and part of that is that there is not much going on that interests me, but the big thing is that I had a damn busy day today and I am just beat…after not sleeping well at all, I did get out for a ride early to be out in the fog, then over to the house for 4 hours of prepping and painting and I did get the part of the kitchen that was peeling done but I think I’ll do a second coat on it since the pink is bleeding through some…when I started the car up to go over there, even with having the battery shut off, it started really hard and I think either the switch is failing or the third battery is toast..if that is the case, I’m going to upgrade to the bigger civic battery that will fit and it is a normal battery, not a fiberglass one and I hope that will be better…don’t want to buy a new battery right now, though…and to top that off, when I got home, the car was missing like crazy and I really don’t know what that is about so I went out and got a set of NGK super v copper plugs to replace the Bosch platinums that all of the guys on the Miata sites say never to run…didn’t start the car after I put the new plugs in so we’ll see Sunday when I go out to get the paper…oh, and the flapper valve in my toilet melted away so I had to go over to Depot to get another one and install it so the thing would stop leaking…and no, I wasn’t going to wait for the guys to come and fix it and let the toilet leak until Monday and annoy the hell out of me..the new flapper was only a little over 3 bucks so it was no big deal…so, you can see that it has been a busy day and I am worn out..so, no more later…
August 16th
Well…back to the same ole crap sleeping and was up and down all night…but, I don’t feel too bad right now so maybe I can live with it today…was just damn exhausted all day yesterday and probably shouldn’t have done two rides feeling like that…haven’t felt this sore in quite a while and I’m not exaggerating that I hurt everywhere…I’m not sure if it is all from working on the house since I felt that way sometimes before I started work…I did get some food yesterday and now have leftovers so I won’t have to cook today or tomorrow…no one had and deals this week so I had to buy chicken at 1.89 a pound and that hurt a little…I think I’ll make some fettucini this weekend since I have a bunch of parmesan that needs to be used…and that will help changes things up from all chicken all the time…didn’t get anything done around here yesterday but try to fix the rattle in the instrument hood in the car…all of the mounting tabs finally broke off so I had to use some 3m vsb tape to put it back on…it was just so damn annoying that I had to do something…now I have to get a new one but they are over a hundred bucks and I don’t want to spend the cash…might be a project for over the winter when the car is stored…I am going to get the half of the kitchen painted that was peeling today but I have to remember that I don’t need to do it all until I move…just enough to get the inspector off my ass and get the water on….more later….
It’s a test….
Well… as I hear more and more from evangelicals saying that the idiot trump was “sent from god” as an answer to their prayers, another reason for god sending them trump has popped into my head…as god looked down and saw the rot and hatred that infests the evangelical religion these days, what if he said to himself “I think I’ll give them one more chance to actually follow the teachings of my son” and then sent them trump as a test…as a last chance to choose the path of morality and love over the hate, racism, and misogyny that they have embraced by their support of trump. Now, you know that I’m a big old atheist so even discussing god or religion is not a topic that I normally take on since you really can’t argue with someone in the throes of faith…but, I do know enough about religion to know that I was never taught to hate in the religion I grew up in…never taught to belittle the needy but that it was everyone’s calling to protect those less fortunate….so, the next time Pence or any one of the purported “christians” open their mouths about trump being sent by god, I want a reporter to ask if it might just be possible that trump was sent by god as a test…as test to see if the rot and hate was true and as a last chance to repudiate the immorality of trump and his minions…I would love to hear that answer as they sputter and run away…geez…
August 15th
Well…got all the way til 5:07 this morning and I am still wondering if the improvement in my sleep is due to not taking the red dots at night after I ran out of them…and it is raining out there right now so I may not have to get on the bike until later today and might just be able to ease into the day after the grocery run…had an okay day yesterday and got some more painting done but it is taking a toll on my shoulders so I may take today off as a rest day before painting the kitchen tomorrow…I do need to get more paint and run a couple more errands so that can be my excuse…I did get the new exhaust for the car so I need to check and see if I can get the same guy to bolt on the new one…but I think that will be next week…I do need to get lots of food today since I am down to my last two chicken breasts and have run out of everything else…and I know I haven’t been eating enough and my schedule has been screwed up with not getting back here from the house until after 1 every day…so I need to have some leftovers that are easy to fix for lunch…more later…
A recession is coming…
Well…as we all know, the idiot trump inherited a booming economy from Obama and has done nothing but try to screw it up ever since…tax cuts for the rich, tariffs, and trade wars even with our friends have put the economy in a precarious position with all of the signs pointing to a recession later in the year or next year…so what is trump going to run on then? Hate and racism? Yep, probably…when you hear Ken Cuccinelli, trump’s immigration chief say that the immortal words on the plaque at the Statue of Liberty were meant for Europeans only…not those icky black and brown people. The problem with a recession coming with trump and his cronies in charge is that we have lower that fourth rate minds in charge of dealing with it who have all drunk the tax cut kool aid and have no thoughts other than cuts are the only thing that is ever necessary in any situation. Now, who would have thought that having an idiot who bankrupted every business he ever had and has a fourth grade understanding of economics would be a bad thing to have in charge when the economy crashes? I do feel for the people who are going to lose their jobs because of the morons running things…but, most of them voted for trump so I have absolutely no sympathy for them…voting for someone who you watched portray a successful businessman on tv is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard..but that is your trump voter…geez…
August 14th
Well…that was a little weird…didn’t get up until almost 6 today and I wonder if part of it is running out of antihistamine so I couldn’t take any last night…not any more plugged up this morning than normal so maybe I’ll continue without them for a while and see how that works…I even slept okay last night so I may be on to something…I did have a nice day with getting out to hang out with T for a while in the afternoon after getting a bunch done on painting and that made me pretty sore today but that is becoming the new normal that I can live with it if I can take one ibuprofen a day….I even had a good bike ride yesterday with my riding sores getting better but still not healed completely yet…I know it’s only been a week but I normally heal pretty fast and they should be gone by now…going to test out the healing here in a minute but I need more coffee…it was a little funny to come home from meeting T and fining my new exhaust at my door…and now I just need to find someone to install it…I think the guy that did the last one is not in business anymore but I am going to check it out to make sure…I still can’t believe that rock auto wanted to charge me almost 80 bucks just to deliver the exhaust when I got the whole thing delivered from auto geek for 77 bucks…including the cost of the part….and this one should last longer if I don’t drive the car in the salt anymore…more later….
This is just damn wrong…
Well…not sure if you read about this but when I did, it spurred a huge outpouing of outrage in me…just last week…and the week before that, and the week before that, and almost every damn week, we see a story about an elderly couple who died by murder suicide because they could no longer afford to keep themselves alive due to the cost of their healthcare…and most of these people have long term health problems that are hard enough to deal with…but, on top of that, they fall into despair as the bills and copays pile up with no end in sight and no way out of the trap for them. As an older person who is now on Medicare, I can understand that…for just routine things like a colonoscopy and some dermatology problems, it cost me almost 3K out of pocket last year as the fees and copays nickle and dimed me and I’m healthy…I can understand how someone with real health problems could be overwhelmed when the bills never stop coming in for treatments that are keeping them alive…so, many of my cohort are taking the only way out for them by ending their lives and there is something just damn wrong with that in one of the richest countries in the world where people like them and me contributed to society our entire lives…and still are. We need to fix Medicare so that, once you pay your monthly payments, any and all treatment is paid in full with no out of pocket, copays or other bullshit…and, before you say “how do we pay for that?” just look at the two trillion dollars that the repubs gave away to the rich and corporations…just a tenth of that would fully fund Medicare so no senior ever goes broke or kills themselves from despair ever again…
August 13th
Well….damn, I just didn’t realize that it was possible to be sore in every part of your body…but, that’s where I’m at today with a marathon painting session at the house yesterday…I did get most of the entry done yesterday and that is the most difficult part of the house so the rest of it will be relatively easy…slept okay last night but was still up at 5 today and I was really hoping for just one day of sleeping in…oh, well…I was smart and only did one ride yesterday and I don’t have any guilt about that and that is a surprise…normally I would be beating myself up about it but 4 hours on the house makes up for it…I can notice that the days are already getting shorter with having to wait longer to go out in the morning and that little fact is quite disappointing…I really haven’t had much of a summer but I won’t blame that on the house…just haven’t had anything grab me enough so I’d go out and do it…and, I have been trying to save some cash so I can buy a winter car before the salt is on the road…and my daughter wants to go to England, Ireland, and Scotland the year after next so I’ll need to save for that, too….so maybe I’m doing the right thing? Okay, need to have more coffee and get ready to get on the bike…more later…
Everone’s on vacation…
Well…it looks like a slow news day today…haven’t been able to find a topic that I want to talk about…okay, how about Manchester United? I started watching the first match of the year yesterday with some trepidation given the poor quality of the team last year and the almost constant disappointment that I felt watching them…so, I did feel a little better after they beat Chelsea 4-0 yesterday but the one thing I have to tell myself is that it is just the first game and until they put in a string of wins, I need to just try to enjoy the play and hope the youngsters they are playing will grow into the job. I still think a lot of the players are doing just enough to get by and they need to show more and work harder…and the goals that they got yesterday were all on the counter attack and not from the run of play and I’m not sure if that is sustainable over the course of the long EPL season…we’ll see…for now, I’m just going to enjoy the fact that soccer is back and that will give me something to hold back the boredom on the weekends…more later…
