Well…going to get off the politics thing for today and talk about a really cool discovery that was just announced today….spelunkers in Africa were exploring a cave system and one of them saw a 7 inch wide crack that looked interesting so he wedged himself into it, and about 20 feet in, the crack expanded into a huge cavern that was filled with stalagtites hanging from the roof….but, that was not the cool thing…on the floor of the cave were some large bones and human looking skulls that the cavers took pictures of and took to a paleontologist who just freaked out when he saw them…to make a long story short, they went back to the cave and discovered a brand new human ancestor, Homo Naledi and added a new branch to our family tree…even in these days when you think everything has been discovered, just a bunch of guys having fun move the science forward and help us understand the history of us..pretty fricking cool the way I see it….

September 10th
Well…as you can see, the site was down this morning but it was just a small glitch so that was cool….slept okay last night and had weird dreams that paralleled Heinlein’s “the Puppet Masters” and even had another one that I don’t remember…didn’t get much done again yesterday but I have already been out to wash the car today so that is something….it was just so dirty from running in the rain Monday that I just had to clean it even though it looks like rain again right now…need to do the glass later but need to get the bike ride in first…have to lube the bike since I rode it in the mud and it sounds like some kind of dying animal with all the squeaks and groans…I am sore again today but it just the moving tendonitis that I have had for years so I’m not going to dwell on it…not much to do today…need to cook since all of the leftovers are gone and I am going to make some bad food that I have been craving lately…more later…
Magical thinking…
Well…ole JEB! just came out with his tax plan he will enact if he is elected….okay, I know you laughed at that one…and that is something else we are going to laugh at since it is filled with magical thinking and based on the discredited economics that blew up the deficit under ole GW. The entire plan is just more and more tax cuts for business and the rich and makes the assumption (disproved many, many times) that cutting taxes raises revenue; the old Laffer curve nonsense that even Saint Ronnie had to abandon after the deficits exploded…he was even sane enough to follow the evidence after the cuts and to understand that the only way to raise revenue is to raise taxes…something that this new crop of repubs just won’t do with their stupid pledges to Grover Norquist to never raise taxes. I don’t wonder why ole JEB!’s tax plan looks just like his idiot brother’s…they were the fevered dreams of the same set of advisers so with JEB!, you get 4 more years of ole GW…and we know how well that worked out…geez….
September 9th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and we finally got some rain that I hope will help with the allergies…slept okay last night but woke up sore again and I am getting tired of it…but, I won’t take anything for it at night…two ibuprofens a day is too much for me….I did get a few things done yesterday and today is another clean the bathroom day since the humidity seems to have lessened and it is much cooler this morning…and there will be laundry and a few other things to get done after the workout and the ride….after the second cup of coffee, that is….or maybe a third one today….still have the tightness in my shoulder and the tendon pain has moved again into my left elbow but not as bad as it was in my right…can still use it so I guess I’ll stop complaining…not much to do today….I do need to run an errand this morning before I get to cleaning..yeah, boring life….more later…
The circus continues…
Well…I’m sure you’ve heard about the clerk in Kentucky who was jailed for contempt of court when she refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples citing her “religious freedom” and the elevation of this bigot to hero status for the right…and the circus continues today with Ted Cruz and Mike Huckabee organizing a rally to support her bigotry and hate. I guess this is to be expected since these folks don’t have any idea what the constitution says or means…the first amendment and it’s protections of religious freedom DOES NOT mean that you are free to impose your religious views on others…and that is what this case is about…this religious zealot trying to impose her interpretation of faith on the entire county by not issuing and ordering her deputies to not issue marriage licenses to gay couples…that’s it…she is free to practice her religion and not marry a woman, but she is not free to tell anyone else how to live their lives…it would be the same thing as if a Muslim person, working for the county, refused to grant a restaurant a license if they are going to serve pork ribs, in accordance to his religion…or one working for the DMV refusing to give a driver’s license to woman since his sect says women shouldn’t drive. You get my drift here…and there should never be any type of “religious accommodation” that would allow these bigots to continue to collect their pay and not do their jobs…if it means that much to them, quit, and go live your religious live somewhere else….I have no tolerance for these people any more…geez…
September 8th
Well…it was an okay but busy day yesterday and I did get a few things done so that was cool…didn’t sleep well but that’s normal and I feel worn out today…that may be from not getting any exercise yesterday and now I’m waiting for the rain to stop so I can get back into the routine….the car worked perfectly yesterday even with the 200 miles and hot temps and I even had the air on for the last 30 miles that felt food…need to check the gas mileage just to see where I’m sitting…still has a half tank left after 200 miles so the estimate is about 30 or so and that is pretty good…I can’t wait for this darned humidity to end…I am tired of being damp all the time…probably shouldn’t complain too much since it is quickly coming into the cold weather…not much to do today…going to get back into the routine and use this as a recovery day….more later…
Long day already…
Well…it has been a long day already with driving 200 miles to Mt. P and back but some good things came of it so that was cool….I haven’t really thought about a political one for the day so I probably won’t do one…the trip back was a bear with stop and go, bumper to bumper traffic all the way from Howard City to GR…and then it just had to rain but the cool thing was that it happened while I was stopped in traffic so I could put the top up without getting wet….I am a little sore from being in the car and my stomach has been crappy all day and I’m not sure what that is about…probably from not eating enough yesterday or today…just couldn’t choke down more than half a chicken breast and I know that’s not enough for an entire day….I’ll give eating a try again later but nothing seems good to me so that may be hard….more later…
September 7th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t get anything done at all and that is starting to concern me…but, not too much…slept okay and feel okay this morning but I do need more coffee to get moving….and my back is sore again today so I’ll have to get some aspirin here in a minute…I did get a nice bike ride in yesterday but I am taking today off since I am making a run up to Mt P today to hang out with C for a while but I may be back here in time to take a late ride….I was really looking forward to having the top down but it looks like it is going to rain part way but we’ll see…other than the road trip, not much to do today….the 200 plus miles will take a lot out of me so it will probably be nap time when I get back here…more later….
September 6th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I got some stuff done so that was cool…even cleaned some and that made me feel good..slept okay last night and had some dreams but I already don’t remember them so I guess I can’t report on them….my back seems to be better today and that is s a good thing since it hurt with every step and that was getting annoying…my shoulder is even better and I wonder if it is the aspirin I have been taking instead of ibuprofen….there is a robin that has just walked up to my screen on the slider and is just looking in here…I wonder if it would walk in if the screen was open? Not much to do today…it is a gorgeous morning with no wind so the bike ride is going to be a good one after I finish the F1 race and there is another race on tonight so that will be cool…I do have to clean the bathroom today, too, so I will have something to do…not sure how much I will do since it is going to be over 90 today…more later…
Funny…
Well…it has been a day of getting a few things done but one thing made me laugh as I thought about it…as you know, I’ve been thinking about buying a battery booster for the days that it gets really cold here in Michigan since the battery in the Miata just won’t cut it when it gets to 10 below or so…I did go out and buy one today and when I was reading the specs I laughed out loud…the battery in the Miata is really tiny…it only has 375 CCA..compared to normal batteries that have 500+..well…when I looked at the specs on the new battery booster, I found that it has 400CCA…more that the Miata battery in a space about half the size…which is weird to me but cool…so, now when it gets cold this winter, I will have 775 CCA and that should start it since it was real close to starting on it own at 15 below….at least I hope it does…and at 40 bucks, I couldn’t pass it up…
