Well…running about on time for a Sunday and I’ve already read the paper and had my first cup of coffee and it’s only 7am….and that is going to set up some boring time here since I want to watch Everton play at 9 and see if they can win and manage to stay up in the Premier League or go down to the Championship for the first time in over 60 years….and it’s too cold to go out on the bike right now at 39 degrees so I’m kind of stuck and have to just relax a bit until then…that’s harder than it looks and maybe I can use the time to clean the bathroom? It sure needs it and then I’d have an accomplishment that would keep the guilts at bay….still not sleeping well and I think that is not going to change so I’m not going to bitch about it…after all, I don’t remember ever sleeping like a normal person so that is just how it is…I’m not nearly as sore as I should be after doing 45 miles on the bike yesterday, just more stiff than anything and I can live with that….the next goal is to do a 60 mile day and then start training for the big day coming up when I ride my age like I do every year from the time I turned 56….that one was a big frickin deal but I was only riding about 10-12 miles a day back then and 56 in a day was a good goal….I do have a spare rear tire that I am going to need to put on the bike in a month or so and I hope I can find another one for later in the year…there are still shortages since they all come out of China so I probably should start looking right now and get a couple of spares….not much to do today…I still think taking Sundays off is a good idea but that appears what it is evolving toward…an idea instead of reality and it will be hard to stay off the bike and not work on anything…so, I’ll probably be out on the bike by 11 after the Everton match but I’m not sure about cleaning the bathroom…we’ll see….more later…

Some good tv….
Well…after watching the last episode of Picard last night and then to the new Star Trek throwback show…the thought came to me that they both are some pretty good tv. This season’s Picard was much better than the first year and I wonder if this episode titled “Farewell” was the last one for the series? It sure seemed that they were wrapping it up and leaving no loose ends and the way they wrote the ending of Q and Picard finally allowing himself to be happy makes me think this is where it will end…after all, Patrick Stewart is looking pretty old and a bit doddering on the screen and I would want to remember him as the Picard of TNG instead. Okay, just read that there is one more season coming so that will be cool…the new show with Anson Mount as Chris Pike was just something new and a throwback to TOS but with cooler sets and a lot of the same characters…and it was fun to watch so I have hope that it will even get better as the series goes on…and we needed a new Trek series since Discovery and Picard are done for the year…not sure what I’m going to watch tonight but I will need to find something after the Derby…
45 miles today…
Well…yeah, I did decide to go out for a third ride and the wind had changed from the NE to the NW and that made for a good ride coming back when I was flying around 20mph on the flat…and my legs didn’t feel it at all and still feel good right now so maybe that will be the new normal for miles every day…okay, nope…two is normally enough but I think I will try to do a 60 here in a bit since today went so well…not even tired at all and that feels good…I did notice that I got sunburned even with 50 sunscreen on but I guess with being out in the sun for almost 4 hours could be the culprit and there may even be some windburn there, too, with doing so many miles…so, does that give me a day off tomorrow? Ha, ha, no….will get out for at least one after the Everton match…I may have to change the soccer team that I root for after Man U sucked like a grade school team today….at least the season is over and I won’t have to watch them anymore…cripes…
Do I go out for another one?
Well…just finished painting the mailbox an re-installing it and now I sit here thinking if I should go out for another ride today to give me 45 miles for the day? The first two rides were pretty good and I could go out in a t-shirt if I wanted to, and F1 qualifying is not on til 4 so I have the time even though there is a nascar race on but I could watch that tomorrow morning…what to do? Okay, going out…need to go now since it is after 2….
Alito’s ruling is even worse than we thought…
Well…as a day has passed and people have started to read the entire bullshit mountain that is Alito’s ruling…it is stunning that one of the reasons he uses for outlawing abortion is the fact there is not a big enough “domestic supply of infants” for rich people to adopt so the government is going to force women to give birth to supply them…so, does that mean that if there is not a big enough supply of “domestic kidneys” for transplants that the government can now force people with two good ones to give one to someone the government chooses? Once he rules that American women’s bodies no longer belong to them, it follows that no one’s body belongs to them and it can be used any way the government sees fit…does this seem familiar to you? How about Nazi Germany where anyone who was not in the Nazi party could have everything they have taken away from them and be put in camps that the Nazis would use for medical experimentation. That’s exactly what is going on here and if you think you are safe because you are a religious white guy, think again….these assholes are shredding the constitution and every damn person in this country should be in the streets…
May 7th
Well…damn, the allergies are bad this morning and my eyes feel like they are filled with sand they are so itchy…and my shoulders and neck hurt like crazy from being out in the brutal wind yesterday and having to pull so hard just to keep moving into it…I did sleep okay…for me….and feel okay today but need to get moving by 9 to get two rides in before Man U plays at 12:30…the wind is down to about 8-9mph today and that will be welcome after the 20-30mph from yesterday and it is nice to have the bike working right again so I don’t have to think about that…and the new cable is stainless steel which the ones that came on the bike weren’t and there was some rust inside the cable sheath that goes to the shifter and the cable just fell apart inside the sheath…..the first ride is going to be pretty cold at around 51 degrees but the sun is shining so that will help…I so have some work to do around here today and the bathroom will be today’s project…not sure when I can wedge that in but I’ll figure that out….don’t have any leftovers to eat today so it will be a day of cooking two meals but it is still all chicken, all the time, and I am starting to get tired of it….and I am going to fill the freezer with the leg quarters I got wed at Aldis….I am feeling pretty old this morning and really don’t want to resign myself to feeling like this all the time…but what can I do about it? Not much it seems…I did have that wave of depression hit me again last night and there really isn’t any reason for it….things are going okay and summer is coming with some great 70′s weather for the week with no rain so I wonder what the hell is going on….oh, well…not much to do today…just going to read some news for the next hour or so and get more coffee and hope the temp comes up by 9 so I can ride comfortably…I am looking forward to getting a real sweat up on the bike next week and doing some sprints to get back into summer shape….more later….
Ron DeSantis, sooper genius…
Well…I started out to do one on the repub from Indiana that won his primary from jail after he admitted to murdering his wife and dumping her body in a creek….more typical repub than you know…but, I wanted to take on a different idiot repub this afternoon…it turns out Ron DeSantis, the repub governor of Florida, is a soooper genius when it comes to investing the money from Florida’s pension fund…this fund had almost 300 million dollars in it that genius Ron had invested…guess where? Yep, in Russian assets that he was warned about before Russia invaded Ukraine…but this soooper genius thinks he is smarter than everyone and left all 300 million invested there since Putin wouldn’t do anything to hurt repubs, would he? At least that is what genius Ron thought and now guess what happened…go on, guess. Yep, the fund has lost 200 million dollars of the 300 million that he invested and is on track to be worthless in the next month…and even with that, ole Ron still won’t even try to salvage the rest of the fund…after all, he doesn’t think that the state should provide pensions at all so who cares if the peons lose all the money they put in….I wonder what will happen when he and the state get sued by the thousands of retirees who are now going to be broke and the state is found to be liable for the losses? I guess he’ll get the money from the same place he is going to get the money to pay off Disney’s bonds that he has taken on by dissolving the special status for Disney to attack them for opposing his don’t say gay law…he is going to have to raise taxes on the entire state and Floridians still love him even after that…a state full of sooper geniuses…geez…

Well…I know I bitched and whined about not having a schedule or any organization for my day…and with how busy my day became, the next time I bitch, slap me….started out pretty normally with doing the first post and having my coffee, then skimming the news for a minute until I remembered that I wanted to clean the kitchen…or just the sinks, window over them, and the blinds that go over that window…so, I worked on that for a hour and a half…and yeah, it was that bad, then got on the bike by 10 and the ride was a lot of fun going out but coming back into a 20-30mph wind was just do damn brutal that I was all the way down on the 3rd sprocket on the back when I’m normally in 7th or 8th…and when I looked down at the computer, I was going 6mph….and could barely make any headway….while I was out, the rear shifter started to stick and shift really hard and I noticed that the cable was starting to come apart right by the shifter…and luckily, I have 5 of the cables that I ordered last year…but it wasn’t time to work on that yet…when I got back, I put the chicken in for lunch, and since I knew that it was going to take 45 minutes to cook, and the lawn takes the same amount of time to mow, I decided to mow the lawn…then lunch, and downstairs to work on the cable….I had to laugh that I’m getting pretty good at that and it only took 10 minutes to take the old one out and put the new one in…and I hit the calibration of it perfectly and didn’t even need to do any fine adjustments when I took it out for a test ride…but I turned around after a couple of miles since the wind was blowing even harder and I wanted to see F1 practice at the new Miami track….so now I’m done and it’s 2:30…and remember, the next time I bitch about nothing to do, slap me…I’ll take one of those days sometime…back for a political one after I read the news….more later..
May 6th
Well…another 5:23 morning and I really don’t feel any urgency to get going…I wonder if this is going to be the new normal with taking the summer off? Damn, my brain isn’t working this morning….with no urgency, I don’t have any organization or schedule and that is a little disconcerting after an entire life of having regimented days…hmmm…I did get two rides in yesterday and my legs are feeling it a bit but the pain is manageable…I did have a left hamstring problem on the second ride where it hurt every time I pedaled and that was a bit new with it just coming out of nowhere…not sure how I hurt it but I am working up to mid summer speed and that could be it….I wonder if it was from bending over to weed the back of the house and plant the flower seeds? That stretches the hamstrings quite a bit but they didn’t hurt then….another hmmmm….okay, here’s another weird weather watch that is on this morning…we are under a fire weather watch and I have never seen that before…I think it’s connected to the strange humidity alerts we have been having out here but this time it is too low at about 30% and with the 20-30 mph wind that is forecast, I guess there could be some grass fires out here…but there is not really any action items to do to prepare….just don’t burn stuff? Maybe that will keep the campfires down around here….not much to do today…I had planned to mow the lawn this morning but there are some showers moving in…and how the heck does that fit in with the low humidity warning? I think the weather people have ADD….and I do need to get two rides in today or even just one and clean this place up some…I think I need to make a cleaning schedule for this place so every room gets done at least once a week…this place is pretty dusty even without doing any sanding…I wonder if I should get one of those swiffer dusters to do a quick once over every day? We’ll see….more later….
Alito really is nuts…
Well…as more and more comes out about Alito’s screwy ruling that there is no right to privacy or abortions in this country, it get worse and worse and shows how he is just writing anything because no one can do anything to stop him…one of his key sources for finding that the constitution doesn’t protect women’s rights is from some random guy who wrote in 1742 that abortions were evil and against god or some such nonsense…and the only thing you need to know is this same guy he reveres so much killed women who he thought were witches…and that fits right in with Alito’s contempt for women and their rights. Alito goes on to falsely assert that there are no “extra” rights and if they are not in print in the constitution, they don’t exist…and this is in direct conflict with the 9th amendment where the framers wrote that just because it’s not in the constitution, does not mean those rights don’t exist….they just assumed that as time went on, the country would figure out how to expand the rights of all citizens and use the law to guarantee them…but they didn’t count on such a corrupt court that would ignore the constitution and supplant it with their own will and corrupt thoughts…what this ruling does is put every right in the crosshairs and the repubs are salivating to get more cases to the court that would eliminated the EPA, gay marriage, women’s right to vote, and every other one that is not in the constitution…and Alito conveniently forgets the 14th amendment, too, that guarantees equal protection under the law…now, I don’t see any governmental body trying to to tell men what they can do with their bodies so how is that equal? The founders warned of a demagogue who would take power for himself and destroy this nation….and now we have one….
