Well….going to talk a little sports today since I don’t have any interest in anything else right now….I think it may be possible that some of you out there are Detroit Lions fans, and if you are, you know the frustration that comes with rooting for a team that hasn’t won anything since before I was in kindergarten…and that same frustration and dread is now there when I watch Man U play…I mean, losing to Watford 4-1? And being in 7 th place in the PL already 12 points behind Chelsea and it’s not even December yet? With all of the money they’ve spent bringing in Christiano Ronaldo and many other players who were supposed to be stars and already losing 7 games in the league? I guess the normal change that happens when a team sucks has happened with the firing of OGS and appointing Michael Carrick (again) as interim manager but who can they get that is better? All the big names that have been successful in the PL are already snapped up so that leaves second tier managers who have never been in charge of a PL team before and who wants to go through that after the same thing with OGS? For a long time, you could watch Man U and expect a good performance and 90% of the time you’d get a win…but now I get the same uneasy feeling in my stomach that they are going to find some way to screw it up…just like I get when I watch the Lions…and there is no reason to subject myself to that as I have for over 60 years…just don’t have the energy for it…so, do I watch Man U play Villareal in the champions league Tuesday…yeah, probably….they haven’t sucked for 60 years yet….

Finally, the Lions fire Patricia….
Well…as you know, the Detroit Lions have been one of the worst teams in football since they won their final championship in 1957, only making the playoffs a few times and never winning a playoff game…and the past three years have been one of the worst stretches in that time…with the current regime going something like 13-39 in that time. But, finally, the head coach and GM of this debacle were fired over the weekend and we start another “rebuild” of the team that seems like it has been going on since I started watching them when I was five or so. Matt Patricia came to the Lions from New England along with the GM Quinn and they were supposed geniuses that were going to bring the “Patriot way” to the Lions…after all the Patriots won 3 super bowls while these two were there so they just had to be great….but, not so much….they failed miserably in Detroit and joined the long line of other “saviors” that failed to even put a credible team on the field…so now the rebuild begins and we wait another two years until the Lions can be even a mediocre team….I could be dead by then…I think we need a new team here in Michigan….geez…
A little sports…
Well…sitting here waiting for the idiot trump to do his next bit of idiocy and thought I’d just do one on sports while I wait…okay, it’s mostly the Wings but I may touch on other sports, too….the Wings looked pretty good last night in their 4-2 win over the Wild and they even scored a power play goal…so that was cool…and my guy Hank got one, too…that is just icing to me….now, I’m not going to get carried away by one win, but they could have gone the other way and that would have dampened a lot of my enthusiasm for this year…it is cool to see the youngsters hold their own and get some goals, too….now, I guess I’ll talk a little about Man U and their start to the year….only one tie for the first 8 games and that puts them tied for first in the league this year….after last year’s 5th place finish, I have hope they will do better…at least in the top three to get into the Champions League without having to go through the Europa league to get there…not much to say about the Tigers other than I am a little curious who the new manager is going to be…I think it’s best to just forget about their season….oh, almost forgot to talk about the Lions…3-1 so far and they should be 4-0…but, they didn’t look good in their last game at all…so all of the hype about the playoffs I’ll take with a grain of salt being the long time Lions fan that I am…that’s enough….
A little sports for the end of the year…
Well…haven’t figured out a political one yet so I thought I’d do a short one on sports…I was just going to say that all of my teams suck and leave it at that, but that just didn’t seem enough…so, here goes…
The Lions….what the heck can you say about the Lions? You would think that since 1957 they would have gotten to a championship game even if by accident…but, no…in 58 years, not one damn championship or even a whiff of a team good enough or lucky enough to even compete…and it doesn’t look good for next year, either…but, do I still watch? Yep…but with the understanding that they will be bad…not sure if I know a Lions fan that ever even talks about the super bowl….not in our vocabulary.
The Tigers……boy what a fall for the Tigers…contending for the world series last year and just stinking up the place this year and I’m not really sure what happened….lots of injuries did them in for the most part and staleness of the management team didn’t help…thankfully, some of that has changed for next year but the starting pitching looks like it is mediocre at best…
The Red Wings…after last night’s game, I’m not sure what to think of the Wings…looks good for a playoff spot for the 24th year in a row but I think their mindset is that that is the ultimate goal…just to get to the playoffs…for such a young team, that’s not the way to think…there has to be a loftier goal…back to the Stanley Cup finals at least to get some of these guys motivated….I can’t remember a Wings team that had the swagger they used to have and tuning in to watch we were confident that they would dominate the other team…I want that back…
Manchester United….worst…team…ever…just horrible to watch…just painful to watch these guys play right now and I’m not sure I will for much longer…no killer instinct…no defense..no nothing…looks little better than the David Moyes team…Louie VanGaal has to go…along with some of the players if this club wants to return to the Man U that used to be….I can’t remember the last time they even scored a goal…
Okay…that’s it for now…was going to talk about nascar a little but just don’t feel like it right now….more later…
Some sports…and filler…
Well…sitting here waiting for the temp to come up so I can get on the bike so I thought I’d get one of the last ones for the month done while I wait…so, it’s going to be sports…yay! I just can’t figure out the Tigers this year…at or near first place all summer and then, bang….they just can’t win a game…I was almost sucked back into watching them as they played well this summer but that was killed after they started to play like a minor league team…I’ll be the Whitecaps could have beaten them this summer. Not sure if I have hope that they will be better next year…probably not….but, they are still not as frustrating as the Lions who look like they have regressed from last year by a bunch…I mean, 0-3 already? But, the frustration in my case is over 50 years old and I probably should know better than to have hope with those guys. But, the Red Wings might make me happy this year with all of the young guys coming up and the addition of a couple of pretty good veterans…they looked good in preseason but that is preseason…we’ll know more after the first game Friday. Then, there is Manchester United…who, even after playing like crap to start are at the top of the table…but, I think that is more the weakness of the Premier League this year…..in European competition, the Premier League has been beaten up pretty bad…I guess we’ll see this afternoon when they play Wolfsburg in the Champions League….fingers crossed
A little sports…
Well…as promised, going to do a little commenting on sports that have happened recently…or maybe not recently but I have something to say about it that I just haven’t gotten to…first…we had a Man U victory yesterday over Liverpool but they looked pretty bad doing it…the final score was 3-0 but without the goaltending of DeGea, it could have easily been a loss of 5-3…I can’t understand why it is so hard for them to defend and why they continue to get caught out on breakaways…a win is a win, though, and it gets them closer to champions league next year…second, the Lions are 10-4? They too played like crap yesterday and the defense had to bail them out time and again…again, I can’t understand how they can gain 500 plus yards one week and then can’t do anything the next….oh, one last thing…they should let Suh go to anywhere else next year…he doesn’t want to be in Detroit and I think his best playing is behind him anyway….okay, third….I am confused about the trades that have been going on with the Tigers lately…last year, they gave up Doug Fister for basically nothing, and this year they give up Rick Porcello for some old journeyman center fielder….and Fister has his best season of his career and Porcello is looking to be developing into a great starter and he is only 25…they had a good 7 or 8 years left in him and they just gave him away…oh, well….still have the Wings….but they are on a losing streak that needs to end soon….more later…
Just another one…
Well…as I expected, it has been a total veg day today since the couch was so inviting and there was just tons of sports on…in the middle of the race right now and then the Wings start at 6 or so so that will keep me busy until Walking Dead comes on at 9…yep, I do live a boring life right now but that’s okay…the Lions did another come from behind win this aft and I don’t remember the last time they won 4 in a row so that was cool and a pleasant surprise after I gave up on them earlier…..but I just had a feeling they may do something special so I turned it back on with a little under three minutes left…I am getting excited about the comet landing on Wed…nope, going to turn that one into a post of it’s own later in the week….so, I guess that’s enough for now..still haven’t read any news since last week and it really hasn’t been a bad thing…might just keep that up for a while…
Trying to not get too far behind…
Well…just took a look at the numbers and I’m already 3 down and we’re only 5 days in so I thought I’d better do something….the damn Lions are making me angry again, dangling the tiny bit of hope that they will be a better team and then this afternoon they yanked it away…looking a lot like Michigan and I am tired of it…now all that needs to happen is for the Tigers to lose and it will make it a complete day….yep, a little depressed today with nothing happening on the job front and not making any money…oh, made some last week so I guess I shouldn’t bitch too much….it was kind of funny today going out on the bike and having the computer not work…flashed back to Friday when I told Tom that all of my equipment has been working well and I couldn’t believe it…it was an easy fix, though, with just adjusting the pickup…..okay, the Tigers are going to lose so I need to change the channel….
A little more Tigers…and Lions
Well…it’s been a full day of sports and I wanted to just do one more short one since theTigers just won their game and are the division champions! Pretty cool game and the celebration after the last out was just outstanding….it hasn’t been an easy season for them but they kept trying and trying and got to the goal…so congrats Tigers! I am a little in shock that the Lions won again today, too…3-1 now and in the lead of the NFC north division…and they looked okay today…not going to roll out the playoff bandwagon just yet, though, I have been watching them for 55 years and they normally find a way to disappoint us fans…but, at least they have been competitive so far…I will let a tiny bit of hope squeeze in, though….more later…
Not much happening…
Well…it has been a long day today and I have been tired as heck all day and I hope it’s from not eating enough and not some bad health problem that I am going to have to deal with….I am looking forward to the new EPL season that is starting in a few days and I hope that Man U does better than the 7th place in the league that they placed last year…I guess they can’t be worse without getting relegated and that would be the last straw….the Tigers are going into their August slump and have fallen out of first place for the first time this year…not sure what is going on with them but they need to do something to get moving again…not sure what to say about the Lions since they have been disappointing me for more than 50 years and I don’t see anything that would make me have hope…but, I will, and I’ll watch them win just enough to keep people interested then they will return to the normal Lions and disappoint us all again….Okay, still tired and am going to end here…I will get caught up with good topics tomorrow…I hope…
