Well…it seems the media is actually asking the repubs why they need to have AR-15 murder weapons and the excuses are all just the same bullshit grasping at straws that they do after every massacre of children done by a killer with an AR-15. The latest one would have made me laugh a bit if it wasn’t connected so closely with the murder of 19 children and two adults in Uvalde….one of the idiot repub senators was asked this morning why they need AR-15′s and he said to protect their chickens from raccoons…now, I wonder how armed his raccoons are to need that kind of firepower to stop them? Do they have body armor? Do they do coordinated attacks? Do they ambush people trying to protect their chickens? You can see just how absurd this argument is from my questions…and I’ve never needed anything more than a pellet gun for pests like raccoons and groundhogs…or rocks for that matter…throw a few rocks and they take off running…and if you are anywhere near a city, you can’t shoot a rifle anyway without hitting something you didn’t want to hit. Look, we all know these are excuses to do nothing about these unnecessary weapons just like every other damn time…and the excuse that the right wingers use for needing these guns that they need to “take back the country” with violence against the government should be met with an FBI investigation and the loss of every damn weapon they own if they are threatening murder….there are laws against that, after all…geez…

The latest excuse….
Well…feeling pretty crappy right now but something I just read made me want to comment….the right and trump supporters are already floating a new excuse to use when trump goes down in flames…it’s all Obama’s fault! Yep…what’s old is new again…and it goes something like this: trump will only fail because Obama screwed the country up so badly that even the magnificent donald couldn’t fix it…yeah…that sounds pretty ridiculous but these delusional idiots will believe anything they’re told….man, I’m sure shaking my head that the supposed party of responsibility never takes responsibility for their failures….and they foisted the biggest, the huuugest failure of all on us….impeach…
Excuses, excuses…
Well…have been reading some of the postmortems of the recent election and there are a couple of things that I find striking about the election here in Michigan. First is the turnout…where only about 50% of the people in Kent country voted versus about 66% in the 2008 election…a drop that is significantly larger than normal for a mid-term. But, the second thing are the excuses and rationalizations that are being offered by the non-voters on why they didn’t vote this time. “It doesn’t matter who is in charge”, “I was turned off by the negative ads”, “I had too much to do”, “I forgot about it”….were just a few of the excuses that were offered in the Press this morning…and what this says to me is that apathy, not the repubs message is what lost this election for the dems.
But, what is more important than voting? What is more important than keeping this country on the path back to equality in economic possibilities…what is more important than voting in your own self-interest? What these excuses have done is to make certain that income inequality will get worse, that the richest one percent will continue to steal more an more of the economic pie that should go to the people that make the profits possible. We are now in an experiment here in Michigan where we go back to the bad old Engler days of unbridled capitalism and the god-like reverence that the repubs have for the “free market”…a market that is always rigged for their rich buddies while the middle class disappears with a whimper and not a bang…geez…
