Well…the day we all knew was coming is here…President Jimmy Carter died yesterday at 100 years old…what a life he lived…and if you want to see a real christian, you just have to look at his deeds and the morals he lived his life by…one thing I regret is that I was a republican back when he was elected so I didn’t vote for him…as historians look back at his presidency, they have come to rate it higher than they did in real time…and the repub dirty tricks with the Iran hostages were the only reason he didn’t get a second term…and his active life after he left the presidency doing good works around the world and  finishing up with Habitat for Humanity…building houses for low income families right into his 90′s showed his character in spades…RIP Jimmy…the world was a better place when you were in it…

Well…with the news this afternoon that Jimmy Carter went home from the hospital and is entering hospice care today, I just wanted to do a short one about his life…now you know I am an atheist who doesn’t hate religion…I hate the things people do in the name of religion…but if you want to see what a real Christian looks like, just look at the life of President Carter…while in office he never attacked anyone, never said anything bad about anything, brokered peace in the Mideast and tried his best to guide the country but had the unfortunate luck of 14% inflation and a repub party who had begun the slide into lies and slander…and with Carter being an honorable person, he couldn’t use those tactics and lost the election to Reagan who put the country on the path to where we are now…after he left office he threw himself along with Rosalyn into doing good works around the world and made Habitat for Humanity the force that it is today….that is what I remember of christians from when I was young…they really did do good work and stayed out of politics and hate….I know that maybe a little bit of wearing rose colored glasses but the christians I knew weren’t nazis like many of them are now…so, maybe this would be a good time for some of those folks to reflect on their actions and re-discover the true meaning of the god they purport to follow…
