Well…as I always do, I mark the day of the Kent State massacre every May 4th and today makes 56 years since it happened…and nothing has changed…Americans are still being killed by their government for still exercising their constitutional rights under the first amendment…I was a 16 year old kid trying to figure out how I fit in the world and these murders ripped the cloth off my eyes and I saw our government not as the benign entity for good but as a terrible one run by people who didn’t have any idea what the constitution meant and didn’t care…they thought in terms of “law and order” and anyone not toeing the line they wanted was fair game to be murdered in the streets…that started me on t he path I still follow today of a deep and abiding cynicism after seeing ordinary people murder their fellow citizens and, with what is still going on today, nothing changes…geez…
