Well…you would think with being a big sports fan, I would have watched the SB last night especially with Stafford trying to do something he would never have gotten the chance to do if he was still with the Lions…..but I got bored and I am not into hip hop so I skipped the half time show and the second half and watched a movie instead…it was a small little thriller called KIMI about how the big tech companies and their digital assistants like SIRI and Alexa are always listening to everything that is going on in your house if you activate them and there was agoraphobia and murder included… parts of it reminded me of the Coppola movie “The Conversation” which had a similar theme…pretty predictable stuff but it kept me occupied for an hour and a half and that was cool…I did watch The King’s Man the other night, too, and that was a serviceable movie that kept me interested and again got me through a night that would have been boring otherwise…there’s not much else out there that interests me so I guess I won’t be watching anything else soon….

Lists…
Well…as I read the news today, all I could see were people doing lists of the best and worst things of the past year….over at Kos, one of their writers basically covered everything in his lists but I’m not going to do that….just going to noodle here with what has interested me this year….
Television….there have been quite a few new shows that I have followed…and some of them have landed on the “worst show” lists but I still like them…like “Heroes reborn”….liked it for some reason and I’m not sure why….”Homeland” had another good season and went away from Carrie’s mental condition…not mentioning it much but I haven’t finished it up yet so there may some in the last one….”Ash vs. Evil Dead” has Bruce Campbell in it an that is enough to say….”Fargo” had another good season that I just finished and it was nice to see Jeffrey Donovan back on tv after “Burn Notice”…the show could have used a dose of Fiona, though….okay, that’s enough tv…
Movies…not much to say about movies since I haven’t seen many of them….I did see the new “Jurassic Park” movie and didn’t think much of it…no surprises and the same kind of theme from the rest of them…dinos are going to attack and eat people…boring…The new “Mad Max” got lots of good press and reviews but I just didn’t see what that was all about…it was loud and had lots of action but nothing else to me….I am going to watch “The Martian” later in the week and hope that is as good as the reviews….okay…done with this one, too….more later…not more lists…
I just don’t understand it…
Well…I was sitting here bored last night and thought I’d watch a movie to try to alleviate some of it…and, with all of the praise that has been heaped on the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy over the years, I thought I’d give the last one a try since it was on tv and nothing else looked good. I guess I just don’t understand the attraction…yes, the stories appear to be epic and there is a certain scale that is cool to watch, but the stories and the characters left me cold…it appeared to me that it was an exercise in epic film making more than an epic film….it may be that I have never been a fan of Tolkien but I think I know a good movie when I see it but this one was just a time killer without any there there….oh, well…I guess this stuff is a matter of taste…give me “Casablanca” or “Gone with the Wind” or even the somewhat opaque “Blade Runner”…or one of Kubricks best and I am happy…
