September 28th

Well…another day and night…lost at pool again but had a lot of fun so that is okay…I was good when I got home so I feel okay this morning but had to get up and get moving to give G a ride…well…I’m already up at this time everyday so it’s not any big thing to get moving a little early….there is a spider alert going on today with the weather cooling off…many, many, of them all around the bathroom again so I’ll have to spray around the doors today to try to keep them out…that will be about it for today, though, and I think I’ll revel in the fact that I don’t have much to do…..the bathroom does need work and that may be the plan for the day after the normal routine…

Oh, one last thing….boycott Family Fare…and today will be 161 on the bike if it stops raining…no song lyric yet…have to get on the bike for a while to find one….

Okay…found a lyric when I was in the car: “I’ve got a Coupe DeVille, I’ve got a bed in the house where you once lived…I’ve had a few cheap thrills, but they cost me a lot more than I could give…”

Okay, explain this to me…

Well…this little nugget has been gnawing at me for a while…well, at least a couple of weeks since ole Snyder weighed in on the obesity epidemic….I hope you’ll remember a few months back when Michelle Obama came out for measures that would help stem the obesity epidemic here in the US…..including that individuals need to take responsibility for their own health by eating better and getting off the couch….and she was vilified by the repubs for what they said was extension of the “nanny state” and being the nanny in chief….then, we have ole gov Snyder here in Michigan do the same thing and the GR press and the other right wing newspapers here cheer that someone had the bravery to take on the health of the people of the state….another case of breathtaking hypocrisy by the repubs and their propaganda arms in the media. When are we going to call these people on this nonsense? When are these newspapers going to stop looking at this stuff as good if it comes from the right and bad if it comes from anyone else? geez….

September 27th

Well….I did go out for a couple last night with G but took it easy and was good when I got home so I feel okay today…the boredom was as normal and endurable but I do need to find some new things to do. Not really any discernible dreams to speak of so I won’t….I am really sore on both shoulders today so I must have slept wrong on them and that is getting to be a pain….yeah, that might be funny…not sure…I do have a few things to do today…out to shoot pool later with Tom…oh, only one thing to do and I am going to try to be good when I get back here…I kind of like having energy when I get up so maybe I’ll try that….I will get to another one today since I did get caught up yesterday and there’s only three days left in the month….

Here’s today’s lyric: “Gravedigger, when you dig my grave, can you make it shallow so I can feel the rain…”

Oh, and today will be day 160…23 to go…

This one’s personal…

Well….there is something that has been boiling my blood lately and that is the increasing erosion of our privacy by entities large and small ranging from the Onstar that keeps recording your driving actions even after you cancel the service to the one that spurred this one….the institution of a “card” that is necessary to receive the sale prices at the local Family Fare grocery store. I find this to be a particularly onerous requirement…having to give up your personal information and have all of your purchases tracked to be able to get these prices, if you don’t, you pay full price. I liken this to blackmail and I will never shop in that store again….the owners say that there is no use for the information other than to make sure you get the best deals…and haven’t we heard this from every other corporation that has sold personal information to make a profit? What’s next…you have to give up your firstborn to be allowed to set foot in the store? People…in this new world, about the only thing we have left of value is our personal information and to give it away to save a few pennies at a store whose prices are not competitive anyway is just stupid….boycott Family Fare until this farce is ended…geez….

Musings about politics and other things…

Well….when are we, as a people, going to stop allowing billionaires to buy elections…when are we going to climb out from under the thumb of banks and business and take our country back…when are we going to find the principles that made this country great and start living by them again? I am edging up on the concept of civil disobedience as useful tool to combat the nonsense from the right and their owners…what if everyone took a month off from paying their mortgages; what would the banks do? What if we all come out and tell the politicians we want an ideology free set of solutions that are based in the science of economics; not the failed “gut feel” economics that the right is pushing? What if we said no to more tax cuts? What if we said yes to paying more in taxes to help get the country out of this mess? What if we boycott any company that sends even one more job out of the country? What if we stop this warfare on working people and support the unions who are the last line of defense for the middle class?

There are so many things that we can and need to do to make this country better…not just for the rich but for all of us but it won’t happen on it’s own…it’s time for all of us to say enough of going backward and saying what we can’t do…what if we become aspirational again? We need to think big again…there is more than enough money for it here….we just need to get it back from the right wing thieves who have stolen it all over the past 20 years….geez…

September 26th

Well…a long day yesterday but the Tigers, Lions, and Wings won so that made it a pretty good one…I may have a heart attack if the Lions keep playing like they did…pulling it out in OT….and there were really strange dreams last night, too, that included hurricanes, time travel, bombs, and tornadoes…T and her son were in this one, too which is really strange since she is never in them….it was another day of no human contact and that seems to be happening more and more lately but that is okay….I do have a couple of things to do today and it looks like dodging rain again trying to keep up the string on the bike….I am going to try to get back on the political horse today since there appears to be another reupub engineered government shutdown looming on the horizon….more later…

It’s part two…

Well…I did get the bike ride in after waiting for most of the morning for the rain to quit…so, that makes it 158 days in a row and I have found a goal to shoot for….183…that will get me to half a year with being on the bike every day….you do need some goals after all…I haven’t been able to write about politics lately for some reason and I’m not sure why that is….still trying to figure that out so I guess I’ll have to move on to other things for a couple of days..or maybe I’ll try one later after I read the paper again…who knows?

Here’s today’s song lyric: “there ain’t nothing in Chicago for a monkey woman to do…”

September 25th

Well…a long day yesterday with all of the sports and movies to watch…and i did have weird dreams that included meeting the neighbors and the ghosts they live with along with having my car impounded, Cadillacs on the lawn, and other things I can’t remember. This one is quite early since I am already bored and it is 6:41….but that doesn’t mean you are going to get more today…you might, but it is the weekend and I may not be able to get motivated…I do need to read the paper and have coffee..after I go get it, that is…and it is too dark right now to go…so I’m going to go get an ice water and lie on the couch for a few…more later…

September 24th

Well…this one is going to be short since I have to get out on the bike in about 9 minutes to be back here for F-1 qualifying at 10….I did have a nice chat with K when we went out for a couple last night and then back here for the normal stuff…there is free HBO this weekend on the dish so it looks like it’s going to be a weekend of just pure, simple, vegging with all of the sports that are on, too…so, I need to get going…more later…

Okay, I’m back with 10 minutes to spare and want to get this one done…so, it’s been 157 days straight on the bike and I felt so good out there today that I really wanted to stay out for a while more…but, I do have things to do today and couldn’t….nothing really to report other than the thousands of caterpillars that were on the trail…it was kind of fun trying to miss all of them….

Here’s today’s song lyric: “gotta feeling I’ve been here before, watchin as you cross the killing floor…”

Snakes on the trail…part two…

Well… a nice ride on the bike even though it was a little cold…..and I think that is what brought the snakes out today to warm up on the pavement…I even stopped and picked one of them up to play with for a while…but the grasshoppers were doing the same thing and that was not good for them because they didn’t get out of the way today….there are probably a couple hundred less of them in the world…and I have grasshopper guts all over the bike…

I think I may start a new feature here…I’m going to give one line of song and you guys can guess what song it’s from…and, no, there are no prizes other than the satisfaction of having a good memory and being a music geek like me….the first one is easy…”I stepped up on the platform, the man gave me the news, he said you must be joking son, where did you get those shoes?”…if you know me, you’ll know the group…
