Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I made a little cash so that was cool…was up and down all night so I feel like crap this morning but I think it will be cool to get out on the bike after the F1 race in the fog….I was going to take the day off the bike but I just can’t resist the way things look when it’s foggy….shouldn’t have had nuts yesterday…I am paying for it this morning but i still think I’ve had a bug for a few days and that is part of it too….okay…the race is coming back on so I am going back to it…more later….
Monthly Archives: July 2014
Of course I’m going to cheat some…
Well…getting to the end of the month and I don’t want to fall further behind so I’m going to cheat a little…made a little more cash today so I went ahead and ordered the new rear shock for my bike…only 9 bucks and no shipping and it should be here in the middle of next week…pretty cool…but, it is a cheap one so we’ll see….it can’t be any worse than the one that’s in there now that doesn’t do anything….I did get a lot of work done today, too so I guess I feel good about that…but, I think I do have a bug since I am still coughing and feel crappy even now and it’s late in the day….I think I may buy the new headlights for the car tomorrow but I’m not sure…it would be cool to have some really bright ones…although I seldom drive at night….okay…enough cheating…back to the race….
July 26th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and i won at pool so that was cool…and it was a nice ride out and back but I didn’t get anything else done….that will change today with having lots of stuff to get done around here along with the bike ride and watching F1 qualifying…I was going to take the day off the bike to let the legs rest but with the storms that are supposed to come tomorrow, that may be the better day to do that….feel kind of crappy today an I think it’s a bug of some sort…have been warm and coughing with no energy but we’ll see later how that is…have been sweating this morning, too, so it has to be a bug….darn….not much to do today…work around here and back here for another one but that’s about it…more later….
Attack chicken…
Well…almost forgot about this one….out on the trail yesterday, I was passing a woman who was walking along next to the edge and a huge brown and white chicken came out of the brush, flapping it’s wings and running at her….she must have jumped a foot sideways and took off running while the chicken followed hee for a few yards….really kind of funny…but, as funny, the chicken was there again today but just standing on the side of the trail like it belonged there…just weird….
July 25th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but not much happened…I did get the chance to start working on the biker tan but clouds screwed that up after only a short while…slept pretty crappy again and woke up with my tooth hurting again…so, I must have ground my teeth all night….and, I’m running late this morning with a combo of talking to my daughter and then making a grocery run…I do have to order the new equipment this morning so I can get back on track…other than that, not much to do today…I was kind of hoping it would rain so I could take the day off the bike but that’s not going to happen so I need to get going…after more coffee, that is…more later…
There are still good people in the southwest…
Well…after reading the stories of all of the hate directed at the refugees that have been coming across the southwest border of the US from some supposed “christians”, it was heartening to read an article a few minutes ago about the coalition of churches in Texas that have banded together to provide relief for these unfortunate people. That is what I grew up with in the UCC…although I’m an atheist now, I still appreciate the ideals that come from some of the teachings and it makes me feel good that there are still some good people in this country that don’t hate…that see the suffering of fellow human beings and feel compelled to do something about it….so I applaud these folks for living their religious principles….not many do anymore….
July 24th
Well…running late this morning with a computer that has decided to try my patience…but, it looks okay now so I guess I need to get moving…it was an okay day yesterday and I made a little cash so that was good…and I get the chance to hang out with T for a little while and that was fun…slept okay, I think, and could finally do a night without the earplugs in….I did find out that my equipment can’t be fixed so I have to buy some new stuff but the new stuff looks pretty cool and it is much less expensive that I expected so that is cool, too….may be making some more cash today and I’m not sure why that is happening but it’s nice to be able to buy groceries without the knot in my stomach that has been there all summer…not much to do today…I do have some stuff to do around here today and maybe over to K’s later to hang out a while but that is about it…more later…
People are just stupid…
Well…I have been subjected to many of the inane political ads that are being aired while working out and one thing really strikes me…people must really be stupid to believe any of those from the right….the latest one I saw was against Mark Schauer who is running for governor…which had the woman holding a squirming baby going on and on about how Schauer raised taxes 10 million times as a legislator and blah, blah, blah….here, in a state with crumbling roads, failing schools, and cities in deficit they’re talking about that? In a state that ranked 37th in job creation they’re talking about that? When most of the fiscal problems in the state are caused by the failed policies of tax cuts for the rich and business, they want more tax cuts? I’d gladly pay more taxes if it would go to fixing the roads or taking care of people instead of straight into the pockets of CEOs whose companies got huge tax cuts…that is patriotism, to fund the society as those before me have done…but, not in republican minds…geez…
July 23rd
Well….just lost the entire post that I was writing and I am a little irritated since I now have to try to reconstruct it….it was an okay day yesterday and I made a little money that I spent on groceries this morning but my head is still above water so that is okay…didn’t get much done yesterday but I didn’t have much to do so I guess that works out…did get out to have a couple with G and that was interesting…but, it broke up my no drinking week and I am not too happy about that….I am happy that the truck race on dirt from Eldora is on tonight…last year’s was a hoot to watch since a bunch of the drivers had never been on dirt before….and then later, Man U plays the LA Galaxy but it doesn’t start until 11 so I won’t see much of that…and they won’t bring the whole team anyway so it won’t be much of a game…that’s about all I have to do today…I am going to meet up with T for a HH later and I do have errands to run so it is going to be a busy day for me….more later…
Another difference between them and us….
Well…with the refugee crisis that is occurring on our southern border where thousands of children fleeing almost certain death have crossed into the US, we can see another huge difference between the right and us….the right replied to the crisis by protesting and howling that these kids should be sent back to where they came from not caring that most of them will die if that happens and mistakenly picketing YMCA buses trying to prevent them from getting the care they need…all the while snarling that it’s not our responsibility to do anything for them…so, what was the response of us on the left to these children? Outpouring of aid and comfort and howling at the government for the appalling conditions these kids are being held in…a young Democrat group putting together a way through facebook to donate clothing and other necessities….once the word got out on Kos that we could help…Kos started it out with donating over 300 dollars and then the community kicked in with thousands more….and that continues now with hundreds of us doing our part to help these scared kids….so, we have the “christians” on the right ready to send them back to be killed while the atheists on the left see the problem as a humanitarian one and organize a way to help….that is just another difference between them and us…they profess to be caring christians but they’re not and they tar us as being godless socialists and we’re the ones that are looking for solutions that will save the lives of these kids….what kind of a person would allow kids to die for ideology? Geez….
