Well…living here in Michigan, we’ve all gotten to know trump’s pick for education secretary, Betsy DeVos, as opposed to anything that has to do with public education, and her family bankrolling the effort to expand and deregulate the charter schools here. So, of course she’s the perfect person to run the education department in repubs eyes since they just hate teachers, teachers unions, and public education in general since you can’t make a profit for their oligarch buddies from it….never mind that she has no education or experience with the issues that the ed sec has to deal with…she does have that large checkbook that now seems to be the only qualification for anything for the repubs…after all, they elected the ignoramus in chief…the most ignorant person ever elected to any office in the US ever….geez….

Jason Chaffetz is a fraud…
Well… didn’t take long for the double standard that runs all repubs to rear it’s ugly head…a couple of days ago the top ethics lawyers for both GW and Obama came out and said that, unless the idiot trump divests himself of his business interests, he will be violating the constitution the day he is sworn in….and the person that is supposed to be investigating that on the house oversight committee, Jason Chaffetz, has said on the Sunday shows that he won’t be doing any investigation of this violation of the constitution…he even went so far as to threaten the chair of the government ethics office for pointing out this violation…and this is the same guy that said that if Clinton was elected, he would start investigations immediately on the supposed and fake Clinton lawbreaking….so, this is your new repub party folks, the laws only apply to their enemies, not to them…and the country starts to crumble….geez…
January 16th
Well…slept okay last night but my lungs are giving me fits today…have been coughing for some reason but I’m not sure if it is a bug yet….don’t have the normal symptoms so I guess I’ll wait to see what happens…it has been nice to be back on the bike the past few days and yesterday was a much better ride…my hands didn’t hurt too much so that was a good thing…but I am sore this morning and I don’t mind it…and the breaking of the news blackout has been less painful than I expected…still not into the entire news cycle but that will come later….not sure what I’m going to do today…it is supposed to rain the next two days so I may just have to veg until I can get back on the bike….and I do have some work to do around here but that might wait a day or so….more later….
The blackout breaks…
Well….it has been two months since I stopped reading or listening to the news but the boredom got to me today and I re activated my Twitter account….not to really read anything but to just look at the headlines…I do need to ease back into it…it would be way too much to go back to the old normal right away…but, there is one bit of news that I wanted to relay…that Clinton had over a million more votes than the idiot but the voter suppression that the repubs use to cheat worked….keep that in mind if the idiot ever mentions “mandate”
January 15th
Well…woke up feeling crappy again today and have lung congestion that has been coming on for a few days that is annoying….the pain from the bike ride yesterday has not kicked in yet but it should in a while…my hands are still stiff from yesterday and that will make today’s ride bad from the start…oh, well….I did cook the pork shoulder in the pressure cooker yesterday but the hour was not enough to get the center of it tender….next time I think I’ll go an hour and a half…still came out pretty good and I’ll have leftovers for the rest of the week…not going to do a whole lot today other than the bike ride later…Man U is playing at 11 so that will be something to keep the boredom at bay for a while and I should clean some but I probably won’t….more later…
Pure torture….
Well…finally dragged myself off the couch and got on the bike and that may have been a mistake…the ride was pure torture from the first mile to the last with my hands going into full cramp mode as soon as I left here and then continued to get worse through the entire 12 miles….there were some things on the trail that made me smile a little starting with the first almost all black red tailed hawk I’ve ever seen…they are normally brown and white on their backs but this one was jet black….strange…then, heading into the woods someone had put red balloons and a “will you marry me?” sign along with hearts and rose petals spread across the path….then, looking for the last bit of artwork where a hundred chistmas ornaments were hung in the trees…I saw it had been moved about 200 yards from where it was the last time I saw them…at least that distracted me from the pain in my hands….
January 14th
Well…feeling a little sore this morning and I’m not sure why…my lower back is stiff but I didn’t do anything to hurt it…oh, I did win at pool yesterday and I had fun getting out of here for a while….but I didn’t get anything else done so that will have to change today…but, maybe not…I am going to cook in the pressure cooker today and it looks like the 7 pound roast I got will only take about an hour….can’t wait to see how it turns out…have been marinading it overnight and that should help….I did splurge and buy some good buns for pulled pork sandwiches later today but I am going to do a full meal for lunch…I may even get out on the bike today if it gets up over 30….more later…
January 13th
Well…feeling a little crappy today and I had to go back to the grocery store to get things I forgot or they were out of yesterday…need to get the pork shoulder in the marinade this morning and forgot the veggie broth I need for that…going to use the pressure cooker for food for the first time in years and I hope it comes out okay….there were school cancellations on the tv last night and I can’t figure that out…the roads are clear and dry this morning….weird….have to stop watching local tv I guess…..there is going to be a slight warm up over the next week or so so I will be able to get on the bike Monday or so…and it is going to 54 next Friday so that will be my January top down day…not going to do much today…pool maybe, but that is about it….need more coffee and the couch for a while….more later….
Inching back into it…
Well…sooner or later I knew that this blackout would get to be too much and I’d have to start reading the news again…still haven’t started but I feel myself inching back into it…at least considering the possibility that I may start to look at the online stuff again…won’t spend 3 bucks a day to buy the newspapers again, but I may get back to twitter and Kos….so, stay tuned so I can say “I told you so” to you idiots out there who voted for the chief idiot….
January 12th
Well…it was a long day yesterday with going out to have a couple with
G kind of late and not getting home til late…but, it was fun so that was cool…but, I slept on my right side again last night and my shoulder is killing me so I guess I’ll have to take something for it….with all of the rain last night my car was a block of ice this morning and I had to thaw it with hot water just to get my door open…I am glad that it was just rain and not snow or we’d have another foot or so to deal with…and after the next two days of cold, there is going to be a pretty good thaw that will get me back on the bike again….and I can’t wait for that…haven’t gained the normal amount of weight being off the bike but some and I want it gone….going to take it easy today to recover from last night so I need more coffee and the couch for a while….more later….
