Well….after how I felt near the end of the day yesterday, I don’t think I’m going to heal unless I stay off the bike today and stop abusing my damaged body…so, I think I’m going to take the day off the bike and everything else…just so damn sore and tired that I think I finally hit the wall and nothing else will fix it…so, I will be back for a couple more of these today after I make the run out to Kohl’s here in a few minutes….more later….

October 21st
Well…damn, when I was sitting here last night, I could feel every place that I landed on when I crashed the other day….it’s a little weird how much damage I did only going about 4 mph…my thumb doesn’t appear to be healing much…it is still swollen and stiff and I can’t move the middle joint at all…but, it doesn’t hurt much so I guess I can live with it….it did rain out here last night and it looks like it is going to rain again here in an hour or so and that means I won’t be on the bike til later and one ride is all I’ll get in today…I can use the rest…just pretty worn out and stiff and I don’t think I’ll heal unless I give this worn out old body a rest….I am going to go out to Kohl’s this morning to hunt though the summer clearance items just to see if there is anything that I can get to replenish my wardrobe…haven’t bought any clothes in at least 3 years and I can use some new riding shorts and some t-shirts…and I bought the wrong band aids yesterday that are too small for my wounds so I’ll stop at Meijers since it’s on the same street and try to get some more…not much to do today…I do have to fill in my absentee ballot and drop it at the drop box in the next few days along with paying my gas bill three weeks early so it will get there on time….more later….
Another busy one…
Well…you know, I’m getting tired of having such busy days and not getting anything done….started out this morning with doing the grocery run to three different stores…had to go to DD today since they had thick cut bacon on sale for 1.99 a pound in a three pound package and I haven’t had it in a long time so I splurged on one…but I won’t be able to have any of it for days since it is frozen hard like a brick…after I got the groceries done, I got on the bike to do the first ride and my thumb wasn’t as bad as yesterday so I could shift a little more…got a good ride in and as soon as I got back here, I got started putting the mower back together so I could mow the lawn today since it may rain off and on the next couple of days…and the repair held this time and I got through the whole lawn without any problem so I have my fingers crossed I can get through the rest of the fall without any more problems….after the lawn, back on the bike for the second ride and that may have been a mistake…my legs and lungs were burning the whole way and I am exhausted….I really do hope it rains and keeps me off the bike tomorrow so I can have a day off to properly heal after the crash…I still hurt everywhere and I may take something for it…
Some thoughts…
Well…just got finished for the day and thought I’d just muse a little on some thoughts I had on the bike…you know, the idiot trump really doesn’t know how anything works…especially the government…and he has some really dumb lawyers…just earlier in the week, idiot boy sued the January 6th committee citing “executive privilege” on “his” records dealing with the insurrection….man, I’m just sitting here shaking my head about that one….first, not one damn piece of these records are “his”…they belong to the US government and his ability to claim executive privilege ended when he was no longer the executive…that belongs to Biden now and he has control over the records and has said that the committee can have anything they want to be able to do their jobs and figure out who was responsible for the attack…and to that end the committee has voted to hold Steve Bannon in contempt of congress for refusing to provide the records they have subpoenaed…and idiot boy has told him that he doesn’t have to using the same bogus claim of “executive privilege” the he is trying to use to keep his ass out of jail….so there is some movement…finally…to hold the people responsible for the insurrection accountable…it’s about damn time…geez..
October 20th
Well…darn, still hurt everywhere this morning and the swelling in my thumb is still pretty bad so it looks like another day of taking it easy but that won’t be easy with all the things I have to do today…slept okay last night but spent most of the time on my left shoulder that was damaged in the crash and that hurts worse today than it did yesterday…..oh, well…all I can do is live with it until I heal up….didn’t get much done yesterday but I do have lots to do today with the grocery run that has 4 stops in it since DD has thick cut bacon for 1.99 a pound and I haven’t had breakfast food for dinner in a long time….and I think I’ll make a bacon and cheese omelet later in the week…and I need to mow the lawn today since it is going to rain tonight…I probably could wait til tomorrow but I don’t want it to get too long…I am planning on having to work on the mower later in the week but I need my thumb to heal up some first….can’t believe how swollen it is but it doesn’t hurt as much as it did so I have hope that it is healing…will probably only do one ride today since Man U is playing at 3 and, even thought they have been stinking up the place lately, I do want to see them play…..more later….
I hurt everywhere…
Well…it’s still amazing to me how much damage even a slow speed crash on the bike does…I basically hurt almost everywhere with new spots of pain popping up almost by the minute…my left side is howling right now and I must have landed on my left hip and shoulder with how much it hurts and the pain wraps around my back all the way to the right side…and now my ribs hurt on the right side in the front…and, needless to say, my thumb is swollen and stiff and weeping plasma so badly I had to re-bandage it to soak it up….I did get two rides in today but shifted much less than normal since it hurts my thumb to downshift and I hope it will be better tomorrow…it looks really bad, too, laying one injury on top of another and it looks like it will take probably a year to get the nail damage grown out….so, I didn’t do anything else today since it really hurts to do anything and I already took an ibuprofen this morning so I can’t take another one til later today….so, I think I’ll take the rest of the day off and watch some soccer….I have to work on the lawn tomorrow and I sure hope I can get through it without another breakdown since I can’t really do repairs until my thumb heals a bit…darn…
Oleg Deripaska got raided…
Well…okay, you can be forgiven for not knowing who this guy is but you should when it comes to the idiot trump’s criminality…..Oleg is one of Putin’s buddies and has been involved with all of Putin’s election interference and money laundering, and is one person who is linked to trump in multiple ways…oh, and ole Mitch, too…when idiot boy removed the sanctions that Oleg’s business had on it so he could build an aluminum plant in Kentucky…and even repubs said the whole thing reeked of corruption. So today, the FBI raided his house in DC and the interesting thing is that the raid is said to be related to a case being pursued in the SDNY where there are at least two investigations of idiot boy going on right now…so, we can only hope that this is related to one of them and Oleg starts to sing to stay out of prison and takes trump and McConnell down with him….an interesting development to say the least….
Pretty sad…
Well…this is just a shorty on a sad bit of news that I read in the paper Sunday….Friday night, a young woman drowned in Lake Michigan right off the beach where I go swimming…she and some friends were night swimming….something I’ve done before…and she couldn’t get back through the nasty rip currents that occur off that beach…I’ve been knocked down trying to get back to the beach after swimming and I’ve never felt the currents as strong anywhere else in Lake Michigan….just a sad story that shouldn’t happen to any family….
October 19th
Well…just took the bandage off my thumb and it looks really bad…and it is still quite swollen and stiff…not sure if it will keep me off the bike today…will probably try it in a while…I hurt everywhere from the crash and probably should just take a day off of everything to heal up but you know me…just can’t do that and will give it a try…I am going to take some ibuprofen before I get on the bike to see if that will help…and will probably continue that all day today….I did sleep okay last night and didn’t get up til around 7 so that is why I’m running late this morning…forgot that I have a bandage on my knee, too….need to remove that and take a look at how that damage is healing here in a bit….I did find out one thing about this house putting up the shades yesterday…all of the trim is oak and I wonder why anyone would paint fine grained oak? Now that complicates the interior rehab for me…do I strip and finish it or do I just sand and repaint? If I strip it, that won’t go with the grey that I planned to paint the interior so I’ll have to think about it…I already have too much work to do on the inside and don’t need more work…I may do a test strip to see what it looks like but it would be cool to have oak trim…I wonder what color of paint would go with that color trim? Hmmmm…not much to do today…after I try to get on the bike, I may mow the lawn today and see if the fix on the mower works…will probably have to rework it but I need it to last until winter….and I need to trim branches some time this week but my thumb is not going to allow me to do much….damn….more later….
Crashed…again…
Well…damn..crashed the bike again this aft and I am a little pissed…some idiot parked his trailer right across the trail so I tried to go around him on the abandoned train tracks that run alongside it…but there was a huge hidden hole that pitched me off the bike and into the street…tore the skin off the back of my right thumb that had just started to heal after the last injury and took a big chunk out of the thumbnail…and jammed the thumb joint that has arthritis in it and it has swelled up quite a bit…and I took a big patch of skin off my left knee…can barely move my thumb but I don’t think it’s broken since I can still move it….and all just because some asshole didn’t care that he blocked off the trail….but that will keep me off the bike tomorrow since I can’t shift the bike with the injury….damn, and I have things to do around here that I can’t do now…I’m glad I got the shades done this morning….crap, crap, crap…
