Well…it was a long, boring day yesterday and I am still kind of laying low from the bug I’ve had since last week…feel a little better today but now the lower back hurts like crazy and I’m not sure how I hurt it…it’s not an achy, flu-like thing but the dull pain that I had for years…and I thought it would go away permanently after I lost some weight but, no such luck….slept like normal last night and had another dream about disappearing Miatas again and boats…which was kind of weird…I do have some things to do today after I get the ride in again and I may even be able to go out in shorts…it’s over 50 right now so that may be doable…and, I did order the new battery for the walkman yesterday since I only get about three songs now before it goes dead….should be here by the weekend but I can’t understand how they can sell it for 14 bucks including shipping…it must cost more than 14 bucks to ship from Hong Kong…more later….
Boehner is still an idiot…
Well…with the imminent passage of ENDA (outlawing employment discrimination against gays) in the Senate, we had ole Boehner coming out with a statement that he won’t even let the bill come up to a vote since his “gut feel” is that it is not necessary…this, after he also thinks that there are already laws against this discrimination, and that it will cost business money, yada, yada…the normal fruit salad of crap that comes out of every repubs mouth whenever groups they don’t like are protected from them…and yes, in most states in this country, you can be fired for just being gay, John….just the same crap that ole McCain came out with the other day and it still makes no sense…oh, yeah, it does now…anything that would keep the business overlords from having absolute power over the country is to be stalled and resisted….after all, they are the ones calling the shots in this country….you and I sure aren’t….what a bunch of crap….geez…
A few things…
Well…this one is going to be a mish mash of various types of these…or, maybe I should separate them to get caught up? That sounds like a plan so here goes…I did have to break down and buy a new battery for the walkman today…I just do not like riding the bike without music and it was only 14 bucks so I thought I just get it done…and, to have all my music no longer available is a big pain in the butt…I got through three songs on the ride today before the battery gave out but I kept the buds in the ears even after that…it is just too loud next to the e-way to take them out…makes for a very unpleasant ride….should have the new battery by the end of the week if all goes well….and the novelty of listening to the radio in the car is starting to fade with the huge quantity of commercials that they have on….okay…that’s it for now…I do have a few things to do so I should get doing them…more later…
November 4th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and had a little fun meeting up with C and K for a couple but the rest of the day was just like all the rest…boring….back to not sleeping again and I think I’m resigned to that being the normal mode of things now…after all, where do I have to be? Don’t need to be rested or ready for anything until after 9 or so…so I’m not sure why I’m worried about sleeping…I do know that the world is really, really loud without having music on the bike…and it is just so much more work to ride without it….so, I guess I’ll have to get my butt in gear and get a battery ordered…not much to do today…I do have to start prepping my winter wheels to paint tomorrow but that is about it….and 3 more of these today to get caught up…just haven’t had anything to say….more later…
November 3rd
Well…trying to get used to falling back this morning and I’m not sure which affects me more…springing forward? Who knows? It was an okay day yesterday but Michigan lost so I had to take the gear off before the game was over….they just looked bad…oh, well…the Wings won convincingly and I am now questioning the move to the east after the 3 wins in a row on this swing back to the west….slept okay, I think, but I think I still have that bug that was really bad on Thursday…and the lungs are still a little off….not much to do today…going to keep it a little low key today and rest up for going out for a couple later on to meet up with C….should clean a little but that probably won’t happen…maybe…more later…
A little sports…
Well…it has been a while since I did some sports talk here so I think it’s about time…the first and most important one is the Michigan/State game this aft…all of the pundits are calling for State to win the game by anywhere from 3 to 14 points…a little discouraging but I am still hoping that Michigan can suck it up and get a win in East Lansing today…who knows? The Wings have been doing better over the past couple of games and they look like they are just working harder than the opponents but I still think they look inconsistent…but Helm is coming back tonight and it will be interesting to see where he is with only playing one game in the last year…and I really hate these west coast games that don’t start til 10…but it is much better being in the east than in the west…I think this is the only west coast trip this year…I would talk about soccer and the BPL but I don’t get to see it anymore so the hell with them…I hope NBC sports dies after them moving soccer to a channel I don’t get…taking formula one, too…I am still pissed about that…oh, well…
November 2nd
Well…already behind for the month and there is no reason for it other than I felt like crap yesterday and really had nothing to say…but, I’ll try to change that today and get caught up…that is, if I can find something to say…it was an okay day yesterday after I started to feel better and stopped coughing…oh, and I won at pool so that was okay…I’m not sure what the heck the bug was that I had but it only lasted 2 days…and my lungs feel okay today…going to try to get out on the bike in a little while since I took the past two days off with the rain…not sure if I’m going to like riding without music today since the walkman battery has completely died and I haven’t bought another one yet….it was a little different listening to the radio in the car yesterday…felt like I was a little more connected to the world getting some local news and even the commercials…and I got to hear music that I haven’t heard in a while….not much to do today…going to clean a little and then the Michigan/State game is on later and I will have to gear up for that…more later…
November 1st
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I did a total veg since I came down with something in the afternoon…have been coughing like crazy and feel warm so today looks like another one of those…it was good to not get on the bike, too, but that leaves me with a huge case of the guilts since it looks like I won’t be going out again today…oh, well…and it is rent day today and that is the worst day of the month for me….okay, not feeling that hot right now so I am going to end here for now…
Last one for the month…finally
Well…this has been a long month doing these but I have started to regain my political outrage and that has led to finally getting back in the political arena…and there is one big thing that is going to happen in the next week or so that will be worth watching…the repubs have again broken their promise (big surprise) to not filibuster presidential appointees, especially judges, so it looks like support is building to kill the filibuster and get rid of the obstructionism that is the hallmark of the modern repubs…they have nothing that the country wants to hear anymore so all they can do is try to sabotage government, take away rights, and make sure that people they don’t like don’t have any….so, I say to Harry Reid and the rest of the dems in the senate…nuke ’em…they deserve it…and the country will certainly support getting things done….geez…
October 31st
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I got a few things done…and I started to feel better after eating enough for the day but I just can’t get past the idea of eating breakfast…just don’t know why other than I’ve never eaten it in my life…might have to try something different…slept okay but no dreams to speak of…which means no rem again so I will probably be running out of steam pretty early today…but, that is okay since it is raining and I am going to take the day off the bike to let the legs rest…they just hurt like crazy and need some repair time…I do have some stuff to do today that involves dry ice…Tom, you know what that means…and both arms are now sore and I am getting really tired of it…should try to remember to take the ibuprofen to get the tendon swelling down and get a long term solution….more later…
