Well…it seems to be a pattern that I just haven’t been able to come up with the big topic of the day on a regular basis lately so I think I’ll just noodle around again and see where it goes…I did laugh my butt off yesterday when I came across this weird video on the internet of goats that shout like people…yep, just like people and I still laugh when I think about it…did you see John McCain on “Meet the Press” this morning? For the first time that I can remember, David Gregory actually called someone out on the talking point nonsense that serves as journalism these days….asking the question “what are they covering up?” when ole John went on and on about the “huge coverup” that is supposed to be going on…and McCain wouldn’t answer…just turning into the man who shouts at clouds…a cool thing to see. Hmmmm….I do like my car….and I may be able to put the top down tomorrow if it doesn’t rain…oh, let’s go back to John McCain for a sec….I just shook my head when the old coot admitted that he didn’t vote for Hagel because he was “mean” to ole GW….I think this guys intelligence is regressing by the day…we’ll next see him crying that someone stole his lunch money…
What else? I think my interest in racing is starting to wane after 50 years…I fell asleep during the nascar race last night…yeah, I know, I call it “napcar” but that is only supposed to be for the Sunday races….there was no Man U game this weekend so I am a little irritated about that…the Wings do play tonight but they have been so terrible lately I think I’ll watch the fox cartoons instead….okay….that’s enough for now..there may be a political one for later but I wouldn’t count in it…it is Sunday, after all…
Well…another long day yesterday and I don’t have much to say this morning…I did get out to see K for a few minutes and that was fun but it did overload me for the night so I feel kind of crappy this morning…slept okay, I think, but with the way I feel, I can’t be sure….I am going to cook today since the leftovers are all gone but I’m not sure I’m looking forward to it…okay…just don’t have anything to say right now so I’m going to stop here and have more coffee…more later…
Well…as I’ve watched the shenanigans from the repubs over the past few years, there have been a couple of themes that I’ve noticed that runs through everything they do….it’s either about winning elections or pushing their ideology. For example, when you hear them talk about immigration, they never say that immigration reform would be good for the country or for the people who would be affected…it’s always about reform to get the immigrants to vote for them and that is just sick…I don’t think they understand that these are real people, living real lives here and solving this problem would help the country by bringing them into the light. But, the repubs don’t want that…they want to keep these people illegal so they can continue to exploit them and keep wages down for everyone. The second thing that is so stunning about the repubs is how they push their ideology on the country when people don’t want it….using the old bait and switch that has worked so well in Wisconsin and here in Michigan…pretending to be reasonable people to be elected, and then rolling out their radical agendas afterward….to see this in action, you just need to look at Michigan and the right to work for less law that was never mentioned before the election but then rammed through the legislature in a lame-duck session. Now, you can see this same nonsense across the country with the outright attack on womens rights by mandating invasive ultrasounds before women can make the choice to have an abortion. Why can’t they just do the jobs they were elected to do? Govern for all of the people in your state, not just the hard right nuts…geez….
Well…it’s 9 so I guess that is the new normal for the weekend…it was an okay day yesterday but the Wings lost again and that depresses me somewhat…but, I feel okay this morning even with cocktails last night so it must be that I am slowly getting over the bug or that I slept better…who knows? When I was on my way over to Meijers this morning, it struck me how nice my car is for being almost 20 years old…I smile when I walk up to it and away from it…how weird is that? Yeah, but you know me and I am weird and proud of it…not going to talk about being depressed about not finding work since it is the weekend and I get to take them off from looking and try to act as if my life is normal….and I do have a few things to do today…mostly laundry…no cooking today since I do need to use up the leftovers….I should clean the kitchen and do bedding, too and I think I will….I do have another one for later but I think I’ll wait a while for that one…need to let it form up for a while…
Well…this one just popped into my head and I wanted to get it down before I forgot it…during the water dance that ole Rubio was doing the other night, one thing struck me as crazy…well…more that one thing but this one is the capper…ole Marco has gone on and on about his “working class” origins and that he still lives in the “working class” neighborhood that he grew up in..blah, blah, blah….and then it comes out in the media that he has his “working class” house up for sale…for $675,000 dollars…I don’t know about you but 675K is not “working class” where I come from…and I’ll bet that the only ones that do are just like ole Marco. After all, who in the “working class” could afford a house payment of 5K or more a month? This is just another instance where the repubs have no frickin clue what it means to work for a living in the US….when you are constantly around people that make millions, I guess 675K would be “working class” in their eyes…what a warped view of this country…geez…
Well..running late today…since the days all just run together, I thought it was the weekend…not really, but that is as good of an excuse as any…I had a Valentine’s day yesterday but without anyone in my life, what’s the point? I did sleep better but I think it was the cocktails and I don’t want to get into that habit so I won’t….no dreams to speak of so I won’t…I did forget to put tomatoes on my pizza yesterday and I can’t figure out why I can’t get over it…yep, that how screwed up my head is right now and I’m not sure why that is…not sure about anything, really, and that is kind of unsettling….but, today is another day and I am going to skip working out today and just do a Friday veg job…going to try to find a few movies to watch or maybe some soccer….and I am going to cook some ribs since I forgot the peas for a pot pie recipe that I got from T so I’ll have to do that one tomorrow…more later…oh, Colbert was just so damn funny doing a bit on the Rubio water dance that you should go out to YouTube to find it…at least it was funny to me…more later…
Well…by now you know that the Violence Against Women Act has passed the Senate with a semi-bipartisan majority of 78 to 22…with all of the 22 no votes being male republican senators who are running scared of primary challenges from even worse knuckle draggers…and now, there are “discussions” going on in the house repub delegation that maybe it’s not such a good idea to oppose a law that will protect more than half of the population…but, the reasons that are being stated are not that it is the right thing to do…nope, you’d never hear that from the repubs who don’t give a damn about anyone but the rich and their corporate backers…but that if they don’t vote for it, it may be an issue that can be used against them in the next election. Well, duh….why shouldn’t being the bastards you are be used against you? The abject cynicism here is getting to almost too much…what happened to looking at the merits of legislation and how it may help your constituents? Even those who didn’t vote for you….you are, after all, elected to represent everyone in your district, not just the crazy assed righties that are trying to return this country to the 1700’s. What are the objections? That is might cost money to implement? Well…it won’t cost a dime…I think this just gets to the hate that is the core of the repub party these days…since the protections in the bill would extend to groups they don’t like, like minorities, lesbians, and immigrants, they don’t see a need for it…and since they do truly believe that women should be subservient to men and just take the beatings, there is only one reason for them to support the law…to protect their own asses in the next election…geez…
Well….running late again today but today, finally, I have an excuse…my internet has been out until just now so i decided to go out to get some groceries while I waited for it to come back on…and the bitch is the signal to my phone has been so bad lately that I couldn’t even use my data connection…everything is okay now…I just can’t believe how dependent I’ve become on having the connection on my phone in the mornings…helps me get started on my day while I lay on the couch and try to get moving…it was an okay day yesterday…I did put the top down and found that if I dress right and the sun is out, I can put it down with the temp about 31 degrees….and I do like being the weird guy with the top down in Feb…I did win at pool again yesterday but it looked like neither of us really were that enthused about the whole thing….not much to do today…going to make another home made pizza for lunch and then just send resumes….yeah…it’s just as boring to me…
Well…I am still laughing about the “savior” of the republican party and his completely inane response to the SOTU last night…I will leave aside the crazy dive for the water bottle that also just cracked me up, and just focus on the substance, what little there was, of the address. First, just let me say “TELEPROMPTER”…it was obvious that this idiot Rubio was reading his address from a prompter…the cardinal sin that the right has shouted far and wide about Obama…but, even that is not the gist of my criticism. That I will leave to the supposed “substance” of the speech…I think Chris Matthews summed it up best that it was a ‘tinkertoy” speech best suited to a half wit middle schooler with the same self-conscious, smarmy nonsense that comes from a true believer on the right who thinks everyone should fall all over themselves to cheer since the “truths” in the speech are so self-evident. But, no matter what the right thinks…this speech was just a re-hash of the nonsense that ole Mitt was pushing that lost him the election…personal attacks on Obama followed up by faith based economic policies that were rejected by everyone…this is the new repub party? I can’t heap enough ridicule on this nonsense…where are the new ideas? They don’t have any….geez…
Well…it was a long night last night and I did my civic duty by watching the SOTU and parts of the repub response…but that is for another one for later today…another repub “savior” bites the dust…slept the worst in weeks and woke up cocooned in the sheets today from tossing and turning all night and I am exhausted this morning….did get a few things done yesterday but it is all just treading water and I am getting tired of it…at least it may be almost 40 today and I may just put the top down on the car to get my Feb one in….it will mean dressing for it better than I have before and I can do that….not much to do today….just more recovery from the bug I’ve had and taking it easy this morning….Man U is playing this aft so that will be cool…more later…
