Well…it was a Sunday yesterday but that is about all I’ll say for it…..didn’t do a whole lot but watch soccer and get a long bike ride in and then took it easy the rest of the day….didn’t get a whole lot done but didn’t really plan to…I hope to get the car back this morning but it is going to be a wet one riding down to pick it up…but it’s going to be warm so that is okay….I’ve taken a few days off from cocktails and I feel pretty good today….the sleep wasn’t too good but I’ve had worse nights so I’ll take it….not much to do today, I may go out and get the papers and head for the coffee house but I’ll have to check the radar to see when the first wave of storms is going to get here….I’ll have two more for today since the brain seems to be working a bit better today…more later….oh, if I get two more out today, I’ll reach the 1,000 mark…don’t know what I’ll say about that…
USA, USA, USA….
Well…just finished up with one of the most exciting soccer matches I have ever seen….the USA women just beat Brazil in PK’s after overtime…and they scored the final goal to send it to PK’s in the second minute of added time after the two 15 minute overtimes….the latest goal ever scored int he history of the sport…men or women…I am now really excited for the next one…the semifinal in a couple of days….but the refs almost jobbed us with disallowing a PK save that was perfectly legal and sending one of our women off with a red card….and it was not even much of a foul…but a win is a win and I am a little concerned that there will be a letdown in the next game….but, I am going to enjoy this one for a while….go USA!
July 10th
Well…a day of taking it easy yesterday since I still have no car and that kind of set the tone of isolation that wasn’t really a bad thing…K did offer to let me use her vehicle to go out to M’s but I had already resigned myself to staying here for the day so I declined and just took a really long bike ride and then watched Japan beat Germany in the women’s world cup which was a huge surprise. I’m doin that same thing this morning with the first game of Australia and Sweden and then USA vs. Brazil at 11:00. So, I’ve got to get going on this one and then get the bike ride in before that. I’ve really been having trouble writing lately as you know if you’ve been here and I still don’t know why…it might be the disappointment I’ve felt about life but I should really be okay…there is a birthday coming up later in the week and that may be a component but I feel better than I ever have so I don’t know why an additional year should make any difference…my oldest brother, born on the same day as I was, nope, that’s backwards…I was born on the same day as he was is going to turn 71 this year and he still rides his mountain bike so maybe their is hope for some longevity…..not much to do today…after the soccer match, that is….might have a couple with K later but without a car..I’d have to take the bike and I don’t ride the thing after a beer…just feels wrong…more later….
July 9th
Well…didn’t get the car back so it looks like a biking weekend for me…haven’t been able to get the brain working too well as you can tell from the shortness of the posts and I’m not sure what to do about it….there’s just is no flow anymore but I am going to keep trying…and there have been things to write about so that’s not it…didn’t do much yesterday…I did get a long ride in since I really didn’t have much else to do but I am having problems with pain in my legs and I hope it is just that I’m going out harder than normal…I guess I’ll try some ibuprofen before I go today and see if that helps…not much to do today…I am going to go out in a minute to get the papers and maybe having some coffee will help to get the brain in gear…..I did see a show about these guys that did nothing but drink vegetable and fruit juice for 60 days and it changed their life…..I do eat relatively well but that might help get some energy back….we’ll see….
July 8th
Well…a little more interesting day yesterday with going out to have a couple with K and V…but I’m running a little late today since I had to take the car in first thing….had a brake line fail on the way home last night and the pedal went to the floor just as I was pulling into the lot here…not sure if I’ll get it back today so I may have to ride the bike all weekend…I normally do that anyway so it’s no big deal…but I will miss the party out at M’s….and I really don’t have the cash to spend but I’m hoping it will be under a hundred bucks….we’ll see later…so, not much to do today…not going out for papers and coffee and I may just clean around here…..I will get another one out later since I am falling behind…
July 7th
Well…I don’t know how long I can keep doing this since my life has become so boring that I don’t even want to hear about it…and yesterday was no different than the day before and the day before that….I did sleep okay last night and that is new as you know…I do need to go out for groceries this morning….okay…I’ll come back later and continue this…
Okay, I’m back and finally thinking again and it has been a more interesting morning than I expected….I did get groceries and coffee, as usual, but then the morning took a turn that was unexpected….pulled you in with that big buildup, huh? I was having problems with the back tire on the bike yesterday and I thought it was the gel tube that I put in it a couple of days back….the thing was thumping and shimmying like crazy so I bought a new tube without the gel sealant but found that the tire had just failed after I put the damn thing in…so, another 18 bucks for a new tire later and I was out with a smooth bike again…but now the shifter is getting balky again…it just seems like the bike is getting unreliable but maybe it’s just me….
There is nothing going on in politics that I want to deal with tight now…oh, there is the thing in Wisconsin where our buddy Scott Walker is now claiming his new law to take away people’s rights is saving money…of, course it’s a lie…but what do you expect from him?

Well…it’s been a struggle lately to find anything to write about….I wonder if it’s that a lot of the columnists that I disagree with are on vacation…I may have to start taking notes during the day so I remember anything that might get me started…I did see a turtle on the trail today which is really unusual; probably the first one I’ve seen in more than three years….I could go on about the Casey Anthony verdict but I just don’t care about it….the prosecutors didn’t prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt and that is how the legal system works…what I don’t understand is why everyone is so upset about it….why do people invest so much in things that have nothing to do with them? I do really like the crop of candidates that the repubs are putting forward for 2012…they all have so many flaws that it should be easy to beat them in the election….I am a little concerned what the dems are giving away in the debt talks….they still don’t get it that the repubs don’t want to do anything to help the middle class and will not compromise even if the country is going to go down the tubes….they and their rich buddies will survive even if they crash the economy so they just don’t give a damn…okay…..that’s about enough for now….the US women’s team is playing in the world cup this aft so I need to take a nap before that…I will try to come back and be a little more cogent but it just not that kind of a day…

Well…running late this morning and I can’t figure out why…I did sleep in until almost 8 which is really weird for me…and I feel kinda crappy more from not eating right than anything else….but you’ve heard that from me before so it shouldn’t be a surprise. It was somewhat of a bore of a day yesterday but I did get some sun and the bike lines are going away finally….and I did get a call from M that he is having a party Sat so it looks like a trip out to GH for a couple of hours….not much to do today….I do need to get my hair cut and then not much else…the US women are playing in the soccer world cup later and I do need to watch that but that will be about it for the day…yep…I live a boring life….but you knew that….more later…
More stimulus nonsense…
Well…I hope you’ve read the latest repub talking point on the stimulus where they are still hammering on stimulus packages as never have been effective in the history of the world and trying to make the point that the stimulus that started to pull us out of the depression should never have been done….as evidenced by the double dip that happened after Roosevelt cut spending while the recovery was still fragile. But the funniest thing I’ve heard lately came from Lindsey Graham, the repub from South Carolina, is the newest talking point that said the only thing that brought us out of the depression was WWII….Lindsey….I have news for you, WWII was the largest stimulus program in the history of the world with huge amounts of deficit spending done by the federal government to build factories and infrastructure that was used to fuel the boom of the 50’s….how stupid can these guys be? I guess you can see it, or hear it whenever they talk…what’s the next talking point repubs? Aren’t you tired of being wrong all of the time?

Well…have been reading a lot about all of the “pledges” that all of the repub legislators and candidates have been asked (or should I day extorted) to take before they will get the support of the radicals that have taken over the party. You have the no tax pledge, the no abortion pledge, the no cooperation with the enemy (read Democrats) pledge, the I love everything about business pledge…well.. that last one I made up but it still fits with the the philosophy that the repubs have adopted. This must make it really easy for any repub that is in congress or running for office…they no longer have to think or hold nuanced positions on the complex issues that face the country today, they just have to call up Grover Norquist and get the day’s talking points…but I think they should go that a step further…why should we continue to pay these guys when they no longer have to research any bill, no longer even have to read them, to know they are against them…why don’t we just get a little piece of software written that identifies all of their hot-button key words and then have the software just say no….then we could eliminate all of the salaries of these so called representatives…what about the people in their districts that didn’t vote for them? Shouldn’t they be represented too? Geez….
