Well…it was so nice out this afternoon that I went out for a bike ride to do some recon on where the trails are around here…and I found some really cool ones that run right along the river to Millennium park….got 12 miles in and didn’t cover even half of them so I will be doing some more exploring tomorrow and trying to remember the ones I’ve been on…there are some really cool bridges  and one that goes across the Grand River to the south and I think that’s the one that goes all the way to Byron Center…that will be a ride I’ll try another day after I explore the rest of the park…it is just so cool that I now can ride here, too…but I think I need to get a mirror to hang on the left side of the bike with having to ride in the street to get to the trail….but, once they get Valley finished to the south of Lake Michigan drive, it’s a straight shot to the park…and that will be cool…

Well….damn…this has been a busy day so far but I’m finally moved! sitting here in my new living room with everything working but have a bundle of snakes in wires that need to straighten out since it looks like crap with wires everywhere…it was really nice that my son and his wife helped and we had everything done by 11:30…have my bed put together with some new sheets I found in the basement and that fit perfectly but are  a really garish flower pattern but who cares? They are nice, heavy percale sheets and I think there are 3 or four more downstairs so I’ll never have to buy another one…one funny thing is I found a nice pair of jockey long john bottoms down in the basement and they fit perfectly and I will use then as my lounging pants since I am going to keep it cooler in here than my apartment…they are not the waffle weave of normal long johns and I really think they look cool in the dark gray color they are….now I need to find my long sleeve t-shirts and the outfit will be complete…okay, need to go down and put the laundry in the dryer and take it easy for a while….more later…

Well….didn’t sleep for crap last night but don’t feel too badly right now…have everything ready to go in the car and truck for the move today so this will be the last one from the apartment where I started this thing so many years ago…man, there have been a lot of things happen while I was living here but it truly is time to move on to new places and new things…or the same things but just in a different location…I think that’s more like it….even going to try to get a bike ride in this aft since it is going to be in the 60′s and I can go out in just a t-shirt…but, we’ll see…will still have a lot of work to do to put my bedroom together and get the roku and router working so I’ll have wifi and that could take a call to my son since I last did it years ago and I really don’t remember what we did…at least I know the internet works so that is something….and I have to remember to eat something today, too…and make coffee when I get over there since I took the coffee maker over yesterday….that is about it for now…this place looks weird with nothing in any room but the living room but I am ready to get going…more later…

Well…have been doing some running today on the last day in my apartment and I finally have time to come here and do one of these…but, not on politics which I will get started on tomorrow afternoon after the move…got the rest of the small stuff over to the house today and did some settling in stuff like putting up the shower curtain cleaning the kitchen some, along with cleaning an ottoman that I found in the spare bedroom…and that is something I don’t understand…it was stained and covered in dog fur but just a vacuuming and then a scrub brush in a bucket of water and laundry soap made it like new with just a little effort and I wonder why it was never done before? Whatever, it’s the perfect height for the armchair/rocker that I cleaned up yesterday and that will be a welcome addition to my comfy couch…haven’t had a chair since I moved in here and I can see myself watching a little tv in it…and, I will remember my FIL when I use it since it was his chair….I also made my first lunch at the house today and everything worked great so that is a relief…but, I am going to get a small fridge for the upstairs since it is a pain to have to work out of the downstairs fridge…and with how little I eat, I can get three days worth of food in the small one…and ice for cocktails…I did take my last ride on the trails I’ve spent so much time on  since I’ve been here…over 46,000 miles but I wasn’t really nostalgic at all…just want the move done…I think I’ve gotten much better with change as I get older….and moving into this house temporarily isn’t bothering me, either…and that’s okay, too…

Well…I give up…not sure what I’m going to do about not sleeping but today was another 4:24 morning after not getting to bed until almost midnight…I’m hoping that will change some after the move and a nice soak in the deep tub at the house…I think that’s one thing I missed living here…the tub is just too shallow to have a hot soak to help with all of the muscle pain and stiffness….just went into the kitchen to get some coffee and heat it and realized that I took the microwave and all of my pots and pans over yesterday so I’ll have to wait for the coffeemaker to heat it up…and that takes an hour so and that is going to make me a little grumpy…I did get a bike ride in yesterday and it appears like I’ll get my last ride in out here this afternoon…after more than 46,000 miles on these trails it is going to be odd riding somewhere new…but, I am going to do some recon Sunday aft to check out some new trails and that should be fun…might have to turn the GPS on in the phone to keep track of where I am…or maybe not…who knows? I do have to continue to strip stuff this morning to make sure I only have one bag or so to put in the truck tomorrow and I’m taking all the food today so I may have to make lunch at the house and then have fast food later for dinner….I should be back here for another one later…and I’ll try to do politics if I can get my outrage up some….more later….

Well…yep…didn’t come back today for a political one and it is  because I’m just beat…this past three months of constant working on the house has finally used up all my energy and I think that I just have enough left to move Sat but that will be it for a while…I am tired and sore all the time now and I think I really should pay attention to that and rest and recover for a week or so after I’m in…don’t really remember feeling like this since my college days when I was working full time and going to school full time and fatigue was with me all day every day….with everything gone around here, I don’t really feel like I belong here anymore…and the stuff that you take for granted like having dishes and food are no longer here which makes it less like a home and more like just a room that I’m waiting in for something to happen…I did hook up my other tv at the house yesterday and played it the whole time I was working there today…it made it kind of feel like home for the first time…oh, and I dragged an overstuffed chair down from the attic and cleaned it up today and it was nice to have somewhere to sit other than the 4 small dining table chairs that I have been using…and it will be a nice compliment to the couch other than the burnt orange color and it will give someone a place to sit if I have visitors….not sure when that will happen but it’s so comfy I’ll probably fall asleep in it when I watch tv…I do need an ottoman for it, though….there may be one of those in the other bedroom…I’ll have to look tomorrow…no more later…

Well…running late today after I discovered a problem with changing my address..my damn 5/3rd credit card doesn’t work…tried to use it to buy gas this morning and it was rejected because the zip code doesn’t match…tried both of them and it still didn’t work…and my other card doesn’t have a stripe on the back so I couldn’t use it either…grrrr…had to use my debit card but I guess that’s okay…slept all the way in til almost 6 this morning and that is really, really weird but I’ll take it with the long string of getting up at 4 this week…but, I don’t think it helped since I am still just worn out and plodding toward the move on Sat…but, the heavy lifting at the house is almost done and all I have to do is clean today…and maybe try to get a chair down from the attic…but I don’t want to hurt my back before the move so I’ll have to be careful…I think I’ll have to buy some extension cords for the living room since old houses don’t have a lot of outlets and I have a lot of electronic stuff and lights that I want to light…might stop at depot on the way over to the house today and get that done….going to move the microwave and toaster today so that will leave only the big stuff to move…will clean up the rest of the small stuff tomorrow and take the shower curtain and the rest of my clothes so this place will be empty….need to take photos so I can remember this part of my life….more later….

Well…this is the one I wanted to do before I read the article about the latest trumpian meltdown….got lots of work done at the house today but that was after getting my hair cut and then going over to the bank to change my address and running a couple more errands. got the blinds up I needed to so now I can have a little privacy and that feels good to get that done…makes it more like a real house every day…then I got started at removing some of the stains on the carpet in the bedroom I’m going to use but need to vacuum it with a real vacuum to do the rest…it appears to not have been vacuumed in years and is full of dirt and dog hair….I did dig out some furniture to use, too getting a nightstand and a lamp along with a headboard out of the attic…will need to clean all that stuff up tomorrow and I may even bring a big chair down into the living room and clean it but it is such a 70′s color…burnt orange, that I’m not sure I’ll like it…but, I do need more than just a couch in the living room so we’ll see. Made the first pass at cleaning the oven and at least now it is clean enough to use but not anywhere near clean enough for me so I’ll soak it again tomorrow and do the racks so I can use it this weekend….I did get a tv set up in my bedroom today and it looks like I’ll get about the same channels I get on the antenna here so that is cool…and the weird thing is that it comes in better with the antenna on the floor and not in the window…at least I can use it for a while until I move it downstairs for use when I have the bike on the trainer….

Well…damn…I wonder if 5 hours of sleep is going to be the new normal for me…up at 4:14 again with getting to bed late and I just can’t figure it out….maybe it’s the move getting close since that seems to be the only thing on my mind lately…and the logistics of shutting this place down while getting the house ready and transferring the food over and having it all ready for sat morning while still having stuff here for Fri night….I guess I’ll move most of it fri and maybe take two trips to get the frozen stuff moved…or just a late run over for the day…not sure yet….I did get a bike ride in yesterday and the weird thing is my legs don’t hurt as much as they did with not riding…down to only 3 more days on the trails out here and it is going to be odd riding somewhere else after over 46,000 miles since I started…but I am pretty worn out so I think the rides will be a little shorter to start over on the west side…should take a few weeks to get the trails sorted out but that may be fun…and I am going to take a week off working on the house after Sat and just relax for a while…and give the Miata some time to relax, too…it is so dirty that I think a complete cleaning will be my first project after the move….maybe Sunday or Monday…nope, going to rest a while first…I do have to get a haircut this morning and then go to the bank and change my address before I load the car up and head over to put the blinds up…can’t clean until tomorrow since there is no room for the vacuum until then…but I do need to do the carpet in the room I’m going to use before any furniture goes in…cripes, running out of time….more later…
