Well…Hockeytown is mourning this morning with the news that Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe has died. He was one of the greats of all time, playing for the Red Wings from 1946 to 1971 and winning Many Stanley Cups including 4 in a row in the 50′s. Sadly, his playing time with the Wings ended before I became a hockey fan but his story has been told many times since my son got me interested in hockey in the early 90′s…and what a story. RIP Gordie….

June 10th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I got a few things done…washed the car but it is covered in dirt again this morning so I really don’t know why I bother with it….slept okay, too…but feel a little worn out today…wasn’t good last night and that is a big part of it…I think ibuprofen works better than aspirin for my pain…took two aspirin before the bike ride yesterday and it didn’t work at all…going to try ibuprofen just for an experiment today….not really that sore today, though, so it may not be a good comparison…did the grocery shopping yesterday and picked up some cheese brats by mistake…what a weird combo…not sure what I think about them yet….I’m hoping they will grow on me…only have 5 of them so I guess I can tolerate it….not much to do today….pool, of course, but that will be it…I have been hoping for a rain day so I can take a day off the bike but no luck for the next week….oh, well….more later…
Bikes on the trails….
Well…it seems to me that there is a rise in popularity of biking on the trails and that is not, to me, a good thing….let me tell you why with a couple of examples…just today, I was on one of the downhills with a blind corner in the middle of it and it is one of my favorite runs that has the 90 degree turn in it, which outlets to one of the bridges that leads to an uphill that has a water stop at the top….well…today when I came to the blind curve, there was a woman on a bike reading her phone mounted on her handlebars who was riding in the wrong lane…damn near ran over her and had to bail out onto the shoulder and damn near into a chain link fence…..then yesterday, on one of the downhills where I can normally coast for at least a quarter of a mile…the same place I saw the duck drop out of the air a few weeks back….there was a group of at least 15 of the spandex boys coming at me, not paying any attention and taking up the whole damn road to the point where I had to stop and wait for them..breaking my rule to never get off the bike….now, I appreciate why people want to ride…I do it every day just because I like it so much…and, it helps me to control my weight and stave of the effects of aging….but, damn, pay attention you idiots…you are not the only ones on the trail…okay, rant over…
June 9th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I finally got some cleaning done…running late today with the grocery run where I spent 70 bucks…yow….I did need the food so I guess I’ll have to live with that….got a big ham for 99 cents a pound but that was still almost 10 bucks but I will eat from that for more than a week….slept okay last night and feel okay today after the third day of being good so I may just do that again tonight…maybe…..have been having problems with my thighs lately with lots of pain even when just sitting here and I wonder if it’s the flare up of my back that is doing it….we’ll see on the bike today….not much to do today…going to clean the car today and then get on the bike but I need more coffee first…then I am going to continue to clean since I like the way the place looks with making progress….more later….

Well…it was a day to remember yesterday with Hillary winning enough delegates to clinch the dem nomination for president….I was a Bernie supporter but I can live with Hillary…she is tough, smart, and knows what she is doing and has shown that with her time as SoS….and the 20 odd years she has endured the constant scandal mongering of the repubs…including the 50 million dollar boondoggle that was Whitewater where the repubs did their best but couldn’t find a thing that she had done wrong. I think it’s a great thing for our side that we are still trying to protect the progressive values that have been the hallmark of improvement in this country…while the repubs continue to regress to the 1800′s with their racism, homophobia, and the longing to return to the gilded age where 5 families controlled most of the wealth in this country. So, congrats Hillary…nice job….
June 8th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I got a bunch of stuff done…worked from 8 until about two in the afternoon and my legs are a little sore from standing for hours….slept okay last night and feel okay today with being good last night….and that will continue today and maybe even tomorrow….the darn soreness keeps moving around this spring and that is really annoying since I am trying to keep from taking too much ibuprofen…I do need my kidneys after all….I wish it would just settle like it has the past few years….my back is going weird again, too, with it sounding like a can full of gravel when I bend over…no pain, though, so I can live with that….I really should do spider control today since there are a bunch of them everywhere and I just might…the bathroom needs a going over so maybe I’ll start there….not much to do today….just the normal stuff and making a pork loin for lunch….made up a marinade yesterday that I am curious to see how it turned out….more later….
Now it’s bribery…
Well…if being a racist wasn’t enough, now it is becoming clear that ole Trump is a briber, too….and he freely admits it. What will it take for someone to do something about this? As a little background, as AG’s around the country investigated the fraudulent Trump University, and it started to look bad for Trump with at least 5 investigations in different states getting to the point of proffering charges, two of the AG’s…in Florida and Texas decided that there wasn’t enough evidence to bring a suit….even though two other AG’s disagreed….now we know why they dropped the investigations….ole Trump gave campaign contributions to the AG’s of both Texas and Florida and then magically the cases were dropped. Yep…I guess now you can buy your way out of legal trouble with 25K in Florida and 50K in Texas…just as long as you have repub AG’s…I guess money talks and justice walks. Trump has even said that when he makes political contributions, he expects to get something for them in the future. And the AG that took the bribe in Texas is now the governor there…funny how that works out. One thing they didn’t count on in Texas is that one of the people that was in the office during the investigation just released 14 pages of material that shows that the case there was really strong and now the governor…Abbott is retaliating against the individual that made the scam public….just another day in the repub run justice system…grease my palms and you can do anything you want…geez…
June 7th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t get a lot done…the two races that were scheduled for Sunday were both delayed and run yesterday so that took up the afternoon….slept okay last night but feel a little off this morning even with being good last night…coughing and a little warm today but I really think it’s allergies so I think I’ll take something for it…..I know I was under for calories yesterday and that will start to show itself later this morning…will have to wait to get out on the bike since it is cold outside right now and I have a lot of work to do around here….my body could use a day off since I have been on the bike every day for two months now so maybe today will be the day…not much to do today…I do have lots of work to do around here that will keep me busy all morning but that is about it…more later…
It gets worse…
Well…I am just shaking my head after the latest outburst from the idiot Trump…it is really entertaining but really calls into question his sanity…as you know, Trump is being sued by people who were scammed by his “Trump University” and the Donald has been going off on the judge in the case with racist comments on his Mexican heritage saying that since Trump wants to build a wall along the Mexican border, the judge is biased against him…and today Trump went off on his staff for asking his surrogates to stop talking about the case….of course the Donald overruled his staff, but the way he did it “…you guys are getting stupid information from people who aren’t so smart…” so, on a conference call with people that he hired to work for him, the Donald called them stupid….the people who are supposed be “the best people” are now stupid? Nope, I don’t buy it…it really does show that these people were stupid from the start to work for this idiot….man, if it wasn’t so sick, this would be fun…so, I can’t promise to not write about Trump anymore…it is just making this way too easy….
This is going to be interesting…
Well…have been thinking a little about this year in politics and the only thing I can say is it is going to be interesting….I have been a little burned out on the whole thing for a while but with all of the firsts that are happening, I just have to pay attention. First, you have the candidate from the repub side that has pulled back the curtain to expose the seething hate that is the hallmark of that party….and does not apologize for his racism but revels in it….I have never seen this kind of candidate in my lifetime…and I don’t know if anyone has. Then we have the distinct possibility of electing our first female president and that makes me smile some…that, and the dems finally finding their voice against the lies of the right is going to make this interesting, too….I really can’t wait until they turn Obama and Biden loose…if the speech that Obama did the other day is any indication, it looks like we are in for a treat this summer and fall….can’t wait….
