The rule of law only applies to Dems in Kansas…

Well….I was going to write about the demise of ole Marco today but there have been new happenings in Kansas that I just needed to comment on…if it wasn’t bad enough that repub control of the state has left it’s finances in tatters with the huge tax cuts to the rich and business…it is so bad there that the supreme court of Kansas told the repub controlled legislature that the cuts they made to the schools there are unconstitutional…but did they respond by abiding by the court ruling and fixed their failing schools? Of course not, they are repubs after all and they just KNOW that the law doesn’t apply to them….so, they just passed a new law there that says that if any judge in any court disagrees with the legislature…even if the law they pass is blatantly unconstitutional…that judge can be put in jail…yep, you heard that right…the party that screams constitution this and constitution that has just shown that all of that bleating is just the bullshit we all know it is….and they only care about naked power and ideology and that is what we would see if these folks ever take over the presidency…..I just don’t know what to say about the repubs these days other than they are the biggest danger that this nation has ever seen…and they need to go back to the rocks they crawled out from…geez…

Okay…have a correction…the judges can be impeached not put in jail…my mistake…

March 10th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I got a few things done…but not much….did get a nice ride in all the way to the park so that was cool….slept okay last night and was good so I feel pretty energized today…when was the last time you heard me say that? I did tweak my back changing the tires on the car but it’s still not too bad so I guess I won’t bitch too much….I am loving this weather and it so much better on the bike in a t-shirt but today looks like sweatshirt weather but that is okay since I can still go out in shorts…almost switched into shorts for the year yesterday but that may be premature….will probably do that tomorrow but my all year rule will probably be broken this year….not much to do today…going to go out and wash the car again so I can wax it and do the glass today and then Michigan plays in the Big 10 tournament at noon so that will take up some time….more later….

Bike tales…

Well….as you know, I have been working on restoring the bike to a more usable condition…about a year ago, the fiberglass frame repair that I did a few years back started to fail and that made the seat loose that annoyed me but I didn’t think much about it until it got really bad over the winter…so, I used the rest of the repair kit last week to fix it and I am so surprised by how much of  a difference it made….it seems like I put about 25% less work into going faster with the seat now being stable again….and it now changes direction again with just a little shift of my hips and that makes riding it fun again…so much fun that I am in pain right now from bombing around and doing the full 15 miles today…..and I found and fixed the squeaks, too, so it is silent running again…I think it irritates the people on the trail since I sneak up on them in pure stealth mode…kind of fun to see them jump when I come by…..already over 150 miles so far this spring….heading for 3,000….

Michigan feels the “Bern”

Well…it was an interesting day yesterday in Michigan politics where Bernie beat Hillary by 4 points to win the Michigan primary. That was really a surprise given that the last poll in the race had Hillary ahead by almost 20 points and the pundits had written him off…weeks ago…but, one of the things that they didn’t count on was the record turnout on both the repub and dem side of the aisle….one of the biggest surprises was the makeup of the win for Bernie with many more people of color breaking for him that anyone predicted…that, along with an overwhelming win in the youngster vote put him over the top….not sure what that is going to mean with Hillary so far out ahead in the delegate count, and with her winning Mississippi….Bernie is still a long shot but he is pulling her back toward the traditional dem platform instead of the repub lite that she has been selling…better for the country for sure….go Bernie….

March 9th

Well….it was an okay day but another blowup with G colored that a bit…slept crappy again and I am going to see if that comes in cycles and If there is anything I can do about it….I did get a few things done yesterday…got the car washed and the summer tires back on the car along with a good, long bike ride so that was something….but, it looks like I’m chasing squeaks in the bike again and that is annoying….I think I may know where it is but this morning will tell….even with carrying the tires in and out and putting them on the car, my back seems to have held up and it just has a little twinge…and no pain anywhere else so I have my fingers crossed….not much to do today…just a workout and a bike ride to do today…then some cleaning that I have been meaning to get to but haven’t….more later….

Some good omens from the court…

Well…with the death of Scalia a few weeks back, it appears that the conservative stranglehold on the supreme court is starting to weaken….and none too soon. This past week we saw the court basically slap down the conservative 5th circuit court that had allowed some draconian anti abortion legislation to take effect that would close all but one clinic in Louisiana….restrictions that are all but identical to those in Texas that made clinics that did no surgical abortions be brought to the same code as surgical centers and that required admitting privileges for doctors performing abortions…and that are before the court right now. And in that case, we saw the liberal justices on the court shred the arguments that Texas had for restricting a woman’s right to choose…telegraphing that the court is leaning toward throwing out the Texas laws as being too restrictive. It is somewhat gratifying that the liberals are dragging the court back to actually deciding cases based on the law, not on ideology that the conservatives had gotten away with as Scalia bullied the rest of the court….and that business has seen the writing on the wall that they won’t get everything they want from the court…as seen in Dow Chemical settling a price fixing case for almost a billion dollars since they understood that their bought and paid for shills, led by Scalia, could no longer give them the rulings they wanted…..it’s about time…geez…

A little politics…and more….

Well…it’s primary day here in Michigan and I’ve been out to vote…how about you? I know that the primaries are normally not too important, but this year there is a real choice on our side…even though Hillary is supposed to win today, I still went out and voted for Bernie….have like the guy since I heard him talk many years ago and his ideas line up better with mine than anyone elses do….it looks like Drumpf is going to win on the repub side but they are all so unlikable that I really just don’t care who wins on their side….I will do an update when the results are in tomorrow….oh, I was going to combine this one with one about the bike but being one behind, I think I’ll do the bike one on it’s own…so, this WAS a little politics…but just a little….more later…

March 8th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I made a little cash so that was cool…but it was a busy one with Tom’s appt, then errands, and then the bike ride…didn’t get everything done until almost 3:30 and I started at 8:30…was good last night so I feel okay today but I have another busy one with voting, washing the car, getting the bike ride in, and then out with G for a couple later….and in between that I have to make lunch….didn’t sleep for crap last night with being up and down since 2:30 so that could be a little trying later in the day…had the Aquinas dream again last night where I just stop going to class and didn’t get my degrees…not sure what that is about but I have that once in a while….I did get a nice bike ride in yesterday but the route was shortened buy the remaining snow that I hope has melted since yesterday….not much to do today…well…that’s not true…going to get on it right now and go vote and then out to wash the car…will probably do that a few times this week to get the salt off the car…more later….

Adults on the stage…

Well…if you have watched any of the debates lately, there can be no confusion about who the adults on the stage are…the repub debate was rife with dick jokes, personal insults, and braggadocio…while Bernie and Hillary had a spirited policy debate that showed that either one of them would be so vastly preferable to any repub that is still in the race. But the delusion on the right continues, that anyone from their “deep bench” is better than the dems…and have any chance to be elected in the fall…all we have to do is turn out and we get the presidency and the senate back….I just don’t want to hear any more Bernie supporters saying they will not vote if he is not nominated…don’t be idiots folks…and hand the election to the repubs just because you’re pissed…I’m a Bernie supporter, too…but any dem is better than the best of the repubs…geez…

March 7th

Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I won at pool so that was cool….but getting started that early in the day takes a lot out of me so I am a little worn out today….didn’t get anything done other than pool and today looks much the same…I do want to get out on the bike but it looks like the trails aren’t clear yet…will probably have to wait until tomorrow since it is going to be in the 50′s today and they should melt off enough…I may try to go out this aft, though, just to test out the repairs that I did to the bike last week….and, with being behind here, I’ll have to do two more of these today…and there should be topics after I read about the debates last night….not much to do today…I do have to take Tom to his pain clinic appointment this morning but then I am going to just take it easy the rest of the day…it should be warm enough to put the top down on the way back home later….more later…

What you never want to be….
