I find a few things funny…

Well…don’t really have a big one for the day so, as I sit here and wait for lunch to cook, I thought I’d just talk about a few small things that I find funny or ironic….I do find it funny that the repubs are so scared of the Occupy movement that they have brought out the nukes already…but, then, Keith is bringing it from the left, too but I don’t see any equivalence…the repubs protecting their rich buddies and Keith trying to finally get the message of the unheard out…I do wonder how long Current is going to let him get away with having most of his show on the protests….I find it funny that that in the struggle of millionaires against billionaires in the NBA contact talks has reached the so what? phase….most of the the people I know and the writers covering it just don’t see where canceling the entire season would be a bad thing…I know I haven’t watched a pro game in years..too much whining and self importance from those folks…I also find it funny but irritating when the ceo of Bank of America starts whining about the Occupy protesters that they are hurting the feelings of the thieves that tanked the economy….boo hoo you tone deaf idiot…you people have stolen everything from the middle class and you want sympathy? Not gonna get it here or anywhere else but in the inbred, insular little world you live in….okay, that’s enough for now…have to go check the temp on the chicken….don’t want to overcook it…..

Thanks, Manny…

Well…if you’ve been here before, you’ve heard me take issue with the idiotic rantings of the Detroit News’ Manny Lopez, and I have to say thanks again for his column in today’s paper…it’s not the only thing I want to talk about but it gets me started and, hopefully, gets the outrage meter moving up. Today, Manny goes on to take issue with Bob King’s comments (Bob is the president of the UAW) that the new financial manager law is an attack on democracy by allowing elected officials to be removed if their organization, be it a city, town, county, or school district runs into financial distress. What would you call subverting the election process by appointed overseers, Manny? What’s next? Removing a congressman or senator if he votes for financially unsound practices? That would put all of your repub buddies at risk for voting for tax cuts when it results in bankrupting the country, doesn’t it? It’s just another instance where the repubs and their lapdog writers scream socialism whenever the dems do anything that will benefit the middle class but then see nothing wrong with tearing at the core of our democracy when they lie to get voted into office. Who would have voted for our gov Snyder if he would have revealed his plans for the giveaway to business and the rich paid for by taxes on you and me? Liars all….

Okay…that is the only topic for this one….I will try to get another one out later but I do feel pretty crappy and want to make salmon for lunch….I have been better lately at getting these out before you come back from lunch….I’m better than Keith at it…oh, that is one thing I did want to talk about and forgot…Keith Olbermann is coming back with “Countdown” on the 20th of June…same time, different channel…..welcome back, Keith….

A few thoughts on Keith….

Well…lots of analysis on why Keith Olbermann left MSNBC and I want to throw in my two cents….first, let’s get this out of the way…from what I’ve read of his tenure at many of the shows he was on point to a person much like myself..one who chafes at being told what to do, combined with a huge ego…hmmm…but what I think was the deciding factor was the takeover of NBC by Comcast…I think he saw the writing on the wall, that the ownership of the company was going to become much more conservative…I’ve never been one to go along with the conspiracy theories that sprout out here on the web like weeds but this time I think there may be some substance to it…that the new owners first act was going to be to change his show to make it more amenable to the right’s interests….who else was out there that was telling the truth about the conspiracy between big money, business interests, and the right? I could be completely wrong but I’d put 5 bucks on it that this is one of the reasons Keith is gone….MSNBC no longer exists for me…I think they’ve cut off their nose to spite their face…

Well….that may be a little harsh….I’ll have to think about it for a while….after all, I am TRYING to be more reasonable….

Goodbye Keith and thanks….

Well…just learned reading the news this morning that Countdown with Keith Olbermann was canceled Friday and I sit here with some sadness that our progressive counterpoint to the swamp of propaganda from Fox is gone. There were times that Keith made me cringe with some of the over-the-top hyperbole that was a part of the show, but, for the most part, he was the only one that was calling out the right and its lies….who was shining a light into the dark corners of politics that the mainstream media was ignoring. There were many times that I wanted to stand up and cheer for the things he said….and to applaud the passion and humanity that was clear from the beginning of Countdown….I regret that I skipped last night’s show but am thankful for the eight years it was on….

So, thank you, Keith…..

A Special Comment on Keith…

Well…a couple of thoughts on the suspension of Keith Olbermann from MSNBC for make unauthorized political contributions in the last election. First, if it’s in his contract that these donations have to be approved before they are made, then MSNBC has the right to do exactly what they did…in corporate owned America, even workers as well-known as Keith still have to honor the contracts they sign no matter how much they disagree with them. This kind of thing happens every day across the country and no one should be surprised at the flexing of the power of the modern corporation…and I might not be fair in castigating the parent company NBC for trying to protect the brand they have spent years creating; especially with the media’s false equivalency that MSNBC is just as biased as Fox….but there were no multi-million dollar donations to the Dems from NBC as Fox did for the repubs so that explodes that little myth.

One of the traps that I think Keith has fallen into is that he has gotten big and feels like the rules don’t apply to him…but, one other thought came to mind in my coffee fueled mind today…what if he did it on purpose? What if he did it to highlight the differences between his company and Fox…I certainly think he at least did NBC a favor..it gave their management the opportunity to put to rest the idea that MSNBC is the mirror of Fox on the left….and I feel that the old model where news was news and opinion was opinion is a better one than we have today…today’s news world makes it too hard to discern between the two and people don’t like to work that hard…making it easy for the demagogues to rule…geez…

Stop stealing my stuff Keith….

Well…just a short comment on this one…I was watching Keith Olbermann last night and it looks like he has been reading my stuff since he came up with the same idea I had a few days back….that is to let the idiots keep talking and their own words will expose them for what they are. I don’t mind him using my ideas, but at least give me credit…I’m trying to make a living at this….
