Well…another night out for a couple with G and had fun…and I was kind of good when I got home so I feel okay today…but I know I didn’t eat enough yesterday and that will come back to haunt me today….at least it’s not raining today so I can get the bike ride in….not much else to do today…I am going to cook a big meal for lunch of a pork loin roast so that is something to look forward to…and I am going to skip the cocktails for the rest of the week just to finish off the recovery process and make sure I’m over the bug completely…I will be back later for more….

Well…I don’t know what took so long but finally, Obama has taken the gloves off and is no longer playing nice with the obstructionist repubs. I think he has made the right decision to attack on the whole idea of tax cuts for the rich and has put the pressure back on the thugs by going to the American people with proposals to raise taxes (or just make them equitable) on those making more than a million bucks a year…listening to Warren Buffett who decries the fact that he pays less of a percentage of his income than his secretary does in taxes. How can anyone disagree with that? But, then we have the right winger hogs worrying that the trough they have carefully and single mindedly filled to the brim for the rich might just end up a quarter of an inch below the rim….and trotting out their tired old bleat that asking for the rich to pay their fair share is “class warfare” and pledging to make sure that none of their rich donors will have to pay another dime….all I have to say to Obama is: nothing else is working politically so go big….make those idiots defend the rich and powerful…it will make is just so much easier to differentiate the dems from these thieves…geez…
Well…it was a long day yesterday and with the lack of sleep, I’m feeling kind of run down today…I did try to sleep but it just didn’t work and I shouldn’t be surprised..it is normal after all. It’s raining out and I may be able to break the string of 152 straight days on the bike…I do have things to do around here and it may be a good thing…or I can wait until later in the day….who knows? I haven’t been getting to the politics lately but there is a reason for it…I am so disappointed with everything that is going on that I just haven’t been able to comment…maybe today…more later…
Well….a cold morning out on the bike but the sun felt good and I did too….I’m still amazed that I can keep this up every day…but, enough of that….the Great Blue Heron has gone missing from the ponds along M-6 but there was another sighting that more than made up for it…on one of the bridges I cross on the trail, there was some sort of raptor sitting right in the middle of the bridge and it sat there until I was about 10 feet away where I could see that it had just made a kill of a bluejay and had it in it’s talons. When I approached it, the bird took off down the trail to land about 6 feet up in a tree where it sat just watching me…tried to get the phone out to get a picture but it took off before I could….don’t know what kind of bird it was…at first thought, Peregrine Falcon popped into my head but this bird was all medium grey and the size of a large crow…maybe a Kestrel? I’ll have to go out and look it up…if I find out, I’ll update later….
Well….a normal day yesterday with a little diversion provided by going out for one with K and K at the local watering hole….that was a little cliched wasn’t it? I do like the looks that I get when the twins walk into a place and sit down with me…and the Peppino’s out here is so suburban to quote one of the K’s….then it was back here to watch the final disc of season 5 of “Dexter”…didn’t finish it but I have the rest of the day to do that….well…not really…going out to shoot pool with Tom later so that will make the rest of the day kind of a blur….might not even make it to “Breaking Bad” at 10…we’ll see. I do have one of the biggest soccer matches of the year this morning with Chelsea and Manchester United so I do need to get out on the bike in a few minutes so I can be back before 11…waiting for it to warm up a little first, though, it is a little cold when the temp is under 50…and I do have time to wait since it’s only 8:30….on that note…going to read the online papers and have one more cup of coffee…there probably won’t be more later….it is Sunday after all…
Well….I am a little irritated with the organized bike ride on the trail this morning…it’s bad enough dealing with the few rookies I see every day, but when they are out there in groups of 20 it is a real pain in the butt. I got run off the trail and into the weeds twice by people that were just not paying attention…okay, I know I have a mountain bike that is made for it….okay…not that big of a deal…but I did get a second one in for the day and Michigan is going to start here in about a half hour so I’m smiling…maybe even more later…
Well….I think I’m climbing out of the hole of sickness finally and it is really a good thing…it gets tiring to be sick for such a long time with the serial relapses that have come with it…but, even after a couple of cocktails last night, I feel okay this morning and I’m running late as usual. I needed to get the ribs in the oven and read the papers with coffee first before I got to this….it is going to be a sports day today with all kinds of college football and races to watch and one of my sons may be coming into town to hang out for a while so at least the boredom will be kept at bay…I even cleaned the kitchen yesterday and that felt good….need to do the bathroom this morning along with getting the bike ride in so I need to get going…it’s a shame that the nice weather has gone away and I have to wear a sweatshirt to ride…it’s only 49 degrees, after all…..more later…
Well…I had to laugh the other day when the repubs continued to push tax cuts as the only way to create jobs here in the US….and you’ve heard me talk about how boneheaded that is considering the excess capacity that exists in the economy. Corporations will not add one job when there is no demand for the products that that job will create…and lowering taxes, even to zero, will do nothing to create that demand. What is the mechanism that tax cuts use to create jobs? I’ve never heard that described by any of the repub idiots out there…but they don’t believe in the science of economics any more than they believe in the science of evolution so why should anyone be surprised? I still think that the lack of demand in this economy is the direct result of the collusion between the repubs and business to cut the real wages of working people by making them compete with overseas workers that earn a dollar an hour and by the union bashing that is one of the central tenets of the repub philosophy. I’ll ask the same question I’ve asked many times before…”who is going to buy your 40 thousand dollar Suburban when everyone is making minimum wage?” Geez….
Well… a strange night last night..I do feel a little better but not 100 percent yet….bad sleep and up early didn’t help but I do have the day to rest a little and clean….not much to do today…not sure what I’m going to cook today….I might end my year old break from fast food but probably not….and I will come back later for one or more….
Okay….did have a little argument with G last night but we have learned how to defuse arguments and it really turned out to be a nice evening…we even won some money playing Keno which never happens anymore…so, I am looking forward to next Monday out with her…
One last thing…Netflix has taken a pounding in stock price since they announced they were doubling prices a couple of months ago and I say “good”….another greedy corporation that made the mistake of thinking they were indispensable in peoples lives and now they are paying for the hubris of their leadership….what happened to good value and reasonable profits?
Well…nasty little allegations are surfacing in Wisconsin about how Scott Walker and his cronies have been using state-paid employees as political shills in direct violation of the law there….the most recent developments concern one of Walker’s top aides who is suspected of doing political campaign work for other candidates disregarding her duties to the folks in Wisconsin that pay her. These guys really hate public workers unless they can be used either overtly or secretly to further their political aims and this kind of nonsense should be remembered in 2012….that the state supposedly can’t afford to pay teachers or firemen or police, but they can afford to pay political hacks that don’t do anything to further the public good….just another instance where these liars will do or say anything to gain political advantage…geez….
