Well…just short one on the news that the US is going to start normalizing diplomatic relations with Cuba…my only question is “what took so long?” Since the demise of the Soviet Union, Cuba has been no threat to the US and many other countries that we were enemies with have long since had relations repaired and are now trading and diplomatic partners…I wonder what it was with
Cuba that made them different? Probably just the right wingers who profited by the continuation of hostilities…which is a normal function of the right these days…to gin up hostilities/controversies that they can take advantage of to grift their way to riches. Fifty years of this nonsense is long enough…can’t wait to hear the heads exploding like ole Rubio’s already did….fun…

Not sure about a topic…
Well…have been sitting here trying to think about a topic for today that would mean something…but, there are just little snippets that I can’t flesh out right now…and that is quite frustrating…it has been kind of interesting listening to the tea party idiots who are just outraged that the repubs are making a deal on the budget when they think it should wait until the repubs take control in January….but, they just don’t understand that it won’t matter…there is still the veto hanging over their nonsense and they are never going to get what they want…and, in that same vein, I have been chuckling at their delusion that this last election was a “landslide” and their assertions that the entire country backs their crazy assed agenda just because some more repubs got elected…I know they don’t believe in math but if only 36% of eligible voters voted in the past election and they got a little more than half of that, that means they got elected by about 19% of the people in this country…now, let’s do some simple math…100% minus 19% means that 81% of the people didn’t vote for their crazy assed crap…I know…subtraction is beyond most of them….geez…
I think Dick Cheney is a psychopath..
Well…have been reading about the torture report and ole Dick’s reaction to it and the only thing I can say is I think Dick Cheney is a psychopath. If you look at the definition, which includes amorality, extreme egocentricity, and the inability to learn from experience, you see that old Dick has these traits in spades but he also has no feeling for the suffering of others; he actually revels in the suffering of others. I can imagine him sitting in the vp’s residence every night with that day’s torture tapes just salivating and wishing he was there in person…and getting turned on by the suffering he is inflicting by proxy…just like the killer in the tv show “The Following” with Kevin Bacon where he used other people to do his dirty work…I wonder if that makes ole Dick a serial killer by proxy…using the hands of the government instead of his own to do his killing for him…what a terrible human being…geez…
I am appalled….
Well…I have never been so appalled at any administration as I was today when I read that Holder will not use any of the new evidence that came out of the senate investigation to hold anyone accountable for these violations of both US and international law. I am doubly appalled at his reasoning that goes right back to the “I was just following orders” that he Nazis tried to use at Nuremburg…his new take is that if there was a memo written by basically anyone that said that torture was legal, then no one can be held accountable…this right here is enough to have him fired or tried himself under international law and treaties and I fault Obama and this misguided policy for the continued ruining of the US’s standing in the world….I just hope that some other country will take up the cause and charge any one of these idiots that ordered torture…I talking about you Bush and Cheney and then arrest them when they enter their countries, which is perfectly legal under international treaties that the US has signed. I am speechless that the rot of the Bush years has been allowed to continue…this country is finished….and I mourn for it…
Torture….
Well…not sure if you’ve seen it yet, but the senate report on torture is out and it is not pretty…one of the biggest takeaways from the summary is that Dick Cheney is the biggest damn liar in the US and should be in jail for his part in building the torture regime. But, I said that a long time ago…that he committed multiple felonies that should have put him in the dock at the war crimes trials at the Hague…where his cellmate should be ole GW. One of the most egregious lies that ole Dick has been pushing for 10 years now is that the country was kept safe by information gained by torture…that is just not true…has never been true…and will never be true but those on the right still believe it, still parrot that zombie lie that has been debunked too many times to mention here. Every expert in interrogation has said that the only thing you get from torture is what you want to hear…and given ole Dick’s hand in fabrication of the “evidence” that took us to war, I could easily believe that torture was just part of his plan to gin up “facts” that would support their goal of war in Iraq. I have had enough of these folks…they have stained this country beyond repair and then just sit there smugly saying they were right…when they were completely wrong about everything…geez…
Prosecuters are the problem…
Well…just sitting here thinking, no it didn’t hurt, and my thoughts went to the many police shootings that have happened in the past few months and the fact that the grand juries didn’t bring charges for the police that clearly murdered these people…and one of the lame reasons that the prosecutors spoke of was the fact that they have to work with these cops every day and they would stop cooperating if they had the threat of charges hanging over their heads, Yeah, I know, a bunch of bs but there is just one small change that can happen that would eliminate that problem….so, I propose that whenever a cop is involved in any act that would go to the grand jury, the local prosecutor should be replaced by a special prosecutor that has no ties to the police and who will do the job as it is supposed to be done…not like Ferguson where the prosecutor there did everything in his power to make sure the cop was not charged…even up to letting the cop testify for hours….when did you ever hear of a subject of a grand jury investigation being invited to testify to save his ass….never happened with a gang member or mafia don or anyone else. This small change would do more to restore faith in the justice system that has been shattered by letting these murderers go free…geez…
Another thing I don’t understand…
Well…just read an article about the “tips” that the St. Louis police force tweeted the other day for young black kids to follow to make sure they don’t get shot by the police while playing with toy guns…first, don’t ever use them…anywhere, anytime…and if you do and the police come…throw them away and lie down on ground so you don’t look threatening to the police….not like any white guy that is open carrying a rifle on his back into anywhere he wants to…no, not like that…or not like the white guy with an assault rifle that was threatening to blow cops heads off while drunk and in the street….then, the reaction was to politely ask him “what’s wrong, and is there anything we can do to help…” a little different than the reaction Tamir Rice got when he was playing with his toy gun while black…when the police screamed up to him, piled out of the car and shot him within 5 seconds. What is the takeaway here? Don’t be a black kid…anywhere, ever, or you will die by the police….when are we going to do something about this crap? Geez….
What is wrong with this country?
Well…with all of the attention on the killing in Ferguson, we have to remember that it was not the only killing by police of an unarmed black man that has happened lately. Earlier in the summer, a New York city police officer choked a black man to death because he was selling single cigarettes on the sidewalk…all of this was caught on tape showing that the officer used a choke hold that was specifically made illegal by the department and there was absolutely no aggression by the victim. But, today, another grand jury decided not to indict this ass of an officer…just like in Ferguson, another cop gets away with killing a black man for absolutely no reason….and now, we find today that the cop in Cleveland that killed Tamir Rice…the 12 year old black kid, was fired from a small town police department because he was unstable…but that didn’t matter to Cleveland, they hired this idiot anyway….and this is the result…another dead black person. What is wrong with this country to let this kind of stuff happen…I am at a loss for words…geez….
Circling each other…
Well…it is a little bit of an interesting time in politics right now with the changes that are coming and the parties circling each other like fighters waiting to land the first punch….and it looks like it was Obama that landed with the executive order on immigration and now we wait for the repub response…and the thing that I don’t understand is why the repubs just don’t do what Obama asked…pass a bill that would make the executive order unnecessary. That way, they could take credit for it and take a big chunk out of their Hispanic problem…but they just can’t do anything that would look like they caved in to Obama…and that is the master stroke of Obama’s comment of “pass a bill”…the repubs will look petty if they just attack and they will lose their base if they agree to do their job and pass a bill on immigration….it just may be interesting the rest of the year after all….
Here we go again…
Well..it would be nice to not have to do another one of these on another police shooting of a young black kid…but, here we go again…last week in Cleveland, a young black kid was screwing around with a pellet gun and the police showed up…within seconds, and with only shouting at the kid, a cop just shot him dead. This time the kid was doing what I and millions of other kids have done in their lives…just fooling around with a pellet gun…for a white kid, it would have been a nothing event…the cops would have just walked up to him and asked what was going on….why didn’t they do that here? Are the cops so afraid of a 12 year old boy that they shoot first and ask questions later? I am afraid that the outcome here is going to be the same as Ferguson…no cop being held accountable and their lawlessness being reinforced and rewarded…again…while the rest of us lose our faith that the laws of this country mean anything anymore….
