Well…have had this one percolating away in my head for the past couple of weeks once I read a screed by one of the “Christians” on the right that was an attack on we atheists and our values…saying that you can’t be a good person or have values that contribute to society without religion. I’ve got news for all of these supposed “Christians”…we do okay without religion and here’s why…we do have values of our own, values that include treating everyone as we would like to be treated and trying everyday to be a better person than the day before…and, here’s the key…we do that because it’s the right thing to do and WE decided that it is…it wasn’t decided in response to some threat from an imaginary super being that lives in the sky…it wasn’t decided to get any “reward” in an imaginary afterlife…it wasn’t decided to avoid the punishment of an imaginary hell that religious people are afraid of. We of the rational persuasion look at the world for the reality that it is and know the only hope for a better one is for us to do something about it…not to waste our time wishing and praying that things will magically be different. We also know that this is the one and only life and the only reward there is is to do the best we can to live a good one….and that’s what most of we atheists do….and we won’t be denigrated by those that believe in fantasy and magic…go live your lives in your fantasy world but leave us alone to live in the real one….

May 12th
Well…sitting here with my second cup of coffee and wondering why I’m running late today…I did have to do a grocery run since I ran out of food on a Tuesday and I’m not sure why that happened…I usually can plan and have food here that will last til Thursday…oh, I remember now…Meijers didn’t have the chicken that I planned to have this week so that’s what did it…so, I had to buy a pork loin today to make a stir fry and cut it up into some chops that I will marinade for use tomorrow…it seems like that is the only thing I do anymore…plan meals…what a bore….slept okay last night but my phone shut off during the night and I’m not sure what that was about…but, it started after I took the battery out of it so that was good…just don’t want to deal with phone problems right now…not much to do today…going to skip the bike ride since the wind is blowing 20 to 40 mph and I just don’t need that aggravation….and my back is sore so it can use a rest….more later…
Jeb is just as dumb as GW…
Well…read this little nugget of crazy the other day but forgot about it until I was reading the paper today….as you know, ole Jeb is running for president and guess who he has as one of his “top” advisers on foreign policy….ole GW…yep, that GW, the one who manufactured evidence and lied us into a war that has cost almost 3 trillion dollars…and Jeb is supposed to be the smart one? And, he went on at Liberty University the other day that anyone else that would have been president at the time would have done the same thing given the “facts” that they had…..no, Jeb, because any other president who didn’t have Darth Cheney as their VP wouldn’t have had a the “facts” that you had…the lies that there were wmd, that Saddam was working on a nuclear weapon….and on and on….I’m not sure what is the more stupid thing…to invade Iraq in the first place…killing hundreds of thousands and setting the stage for ISIS to rise in the power vacuum, or to know how big a mistake it was and still support it….that from the “smart” Bush….Jeb is just as dumb as GW and we don’t need another moron in the White House…geez…
May 11th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but my legs are sore from walking the bike back after the flat..slept crappy and feel like I have some sort of a bug since I have been coughing all morning…could just be allergies, though, since the car was yellow with pollen before the rain yesterday….didn’t get much done other than the bike stuff yesterday but I did get a pizza made and with the substitution of butter for the oil it calls for, the crust was just so much better that I think it’s a keeper….I do need to get some stuff done around here today but I don’t know if I feel good enough to do it…not much to do today….I do need to work out and get the bike ride in before the rain so I guess I should get to it…more later…
Bike stuff…
Well…it has been a week for the bike…I’ve had three flats this week and ruined or worn out a rear tire that had to be replaced…and all of the flats were on the inside of the tube where it fits into the rim so I’m not sure what the heck that is about…had to go out and get a new tube today and bought one of those with the sealer inside it so maybe another small hole will seal itself…..and, I cleaned the inside of the rim and tire, just like last time and I am hoping to get through the rest of the summer with no more problems….I have been lucky over the past couple of years with no flats at all….so maybe I’ve gotten them out of my system….just don’t want to walk the darn thing back anymore…
May 10th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t get much done…slept pretty crappy and feel it this morning….I think I’m in low gear so far and it looks like it will be that way for a while….it is raining so I can’t get on the bike for a while but the F1 race is on so I wasn’t planning on getting out until that ends….I do need to remember to take some ibuprofen before I go out to keep my elbow from killing me the whole time and to keep the cramps out of my wrists…that is the worst part of the ride these days….I do have a few things that I need to get done today…laundry and some vacuuming and I am going to make another scratch pizza for lunch today…going to use butter in the crust today to try to get a little more flavor in it….okay…going to go back to the couch to watch the race and finish my coffee…more later….
May 9th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I lost at pool…again…and that was okay, too…slept normally but no darn dreams again and that is a little disappointing…it did rain like crazy last night and this morning so the pollen is off the car and out of the air…hope that means some relief from the allergies that have been pretty bad the past few days….it is still raining so getting the bike back together can wait for a while until I have my coffee and wake up totally…didn’t do much else but pool yesterday but if it keeps raining, I’ll probably work on the kitchen today since I have already done the bathroom…need to do laundry today, too, so I’ll have something to do until Man U comes on this aft….not much to do today…cleaning, but that is about it…more later….
May 8th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday and I made a little cash so that was cool…got the bathroom cleaned, too…finally…but didn’t get much else done…slept crappy again and feel that way this morning but I hope the bike ride will help that….I did leave the windows open last night and I’m not sure if that was a good idea with all the pollen in the air…my car has a yellow tint to it and I am hoping the storms later will wash that stuff out of the air for at least a little while….have been really sore lately so I think there will be some Ibuprofen before the bike ride today….this years tendon pain is in my right elbow and that is not a good thing….actually it’s in my right tricep and elbow and it is really aggravated by being on the bike…not much to do today…pool, of course, but that is going to be it…more later….
The problem in Michigan…
Well….as everyone predicted, proposal one to fix the roads here failed by a huge margin…and, as predicted, the repubs are misinterpreting the result to mean that the people here support their tax cut at all cost policies that have put us in this mess over the past 6 years. What these idiots need to do is to read the polls of why people voted no…the largest being that the legislature abdicated its responsibility to the state and the people to maintain the infrastructure just to give tax cuts to corporations and the rich. The problem is that tax cuts do not work…let me say that again…tax cuts do not work to spur growth or increase tax revenues…never have, never will…and the giveaway over the past 6 years of repub control is estimated to be 3.5 billion dollars…more than enough to repair the roads, fix the schools, and to share the revenue with our cities, which is where the growth comes from…not giving tax cuts to millionaires with the blind hope they will invest and create jobs. Now, let’s put an end to the idea that we are overtaxed, too…that honor goes to Minnesota who has a tax rate that is 30% higher than Michigan and has outpaced us in growth every year…and they fund their schools, fix their roads, and their cities are thriving. We need to stop this tax cut nonsense that has put many repub controlled states into this same downward spiral we see here in Michigan…and stop the faith based economics that has kept Michigan from the growth it could accomplish with a rational tax policy…I don’t mind paying a little more in taxes…just as long as it doesn’t end up in a CEO’s pocket like the last tax cut for corporations did….geez…
May 7th
Well…running early this morning so I thought I’d get this one done before I get started…slept okay last night and had dreams that flashed from present day to WWII…I was driving an old Plymouth with a slipping clutch and brakes that leaked but with a gorgeous woman with me who was a trooper and went along with everything that happened….pretty cool one to say the least…but it ended as all my relationships have…with getting dumped…I did get a few things done yesterday and today is going to be bathroom cleaning day after I get the bike ride in….it is going to be 86 today and it will be nice to get this place open to air it out…I have this craving for a homemade pizza and that is what I’m going to make today…entirely from scratch and yummy…..not much to do today….I think I may take the aft off after I clean a little and get a few other things done…more later….
