Well…it was an okay day yesterday but the bike ride was a wet, brutal mess and I think it took me most of the day to get warm after getting back here…almost lost one of the crank arms on it, too, the bolt that holds it on came loose and I had to stop about every quarter mile to tighten it so I wouldn’t lose the bolt….that has never happened before and I’m not sure why it would come loose…and it contributed to making the ride kind of a pain in the butt….slept okay last night and feel pretty good this morning except the back pain that I just can’t get rid of….feels like earlier in the year when the vertebrae got caught and wouldn’t move….making problems for the nerves in my right leg but I guess that’s part of getting older….the weird thing is it doesn’t hurt on the bike…..oh, said that earlier, I think……not much to do today…have an errand to run this morning and then pool this aft but that is about it….have been good for three nights now and I may go the entire week…more later…

More Walmart extortion….
Well…another day goes by, and we have another case of Walmart trying to extort another city into not raising it’s minimum wage. the city of Desert Hot springs California is considering raising the city’s minimum wage to $10.20 an hour with a dollar an hour increase for the next two years and then indexing it to inflation…not an unreasonable way to ensure that people make enough to eat and pay their rent. But, that’s just too much for Walmart who owns land in the city and has told the city council that if they pass the wage changes, the store will not be built…going so far at to take out a full page ad opposing the council saying that their 300 jobs would not happen if the ordinance is passed. Other than the fact that this is corporate thuggery at it’s worst…I’d say to them “good, keep your damn 300 jobs”….especially in light of the studies that have been done that find that every time a Walmart is built and opened it leads to a net loss of jobs in the community…and this has been shown all across the country…..and this goes along with other economic studies that peg the cost of each Walmart to the taxpayers of a million dollars a year….since they don’t pay enough for people to live on, most of their employees are on food stamps and Medicaid…so, I’d say to Walmart from any city across this country…keep your damn, poor paying jobs and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out….geez…
December 1st
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t get much done…I did get a nice surprise when I went out to get the papers this morning and with it raining, there were no leaks in the car…weird….slept okay last night and had dreams about earthquakes and the first house I lived in…and there were cameos of lots of people I haven’t seen in years so that was weird but it was also the first time I’ve had a dream in a long time….still haven’t been able to get my back to crack and I think that may be contributing to the dead legs on the bike…it hurts to move but it doesn’t on the bike and that shouldn’t be….I’m hoping the temp comes up enough this morning to cut back on the thermasuit and go out with no stocking hat….not much to do today…might have pool but I’m not sure about that….and I have some work to do around here so that will help with the boredom…..more later…
