Well….this is pretty damn cool…started working on installing the new garage door opener around 9 and just finished it up now around noon….was a pretty easy installation but the track on this one is about 6 inches shorter so I had to build a new hanger setup for it and that took a little time to figure out how to do that…but, I had everything I needed to do it on hand with just a little figuring so that was cool…once I got the up and down limits set, I turned off the power to see if it would stay in the memory and it did so I can take a couple of days to rewire it so the power will be on to it all the time…this is a pretty nice unit and you can barely hear it when it’s working and that is cool, too but it only came with one remote so I think I’m going to look to see what another one would cost…it just dawned on me that I don’t have to get out of the car to open and close the door anymore! That is just too cool for 78 bucks and a few hours of work….

Well…got all the way through til 7:04 this morning and I think I slept pretty well…but still feel quite slow and the coffee needs to work soon or I’ll still be sitting here at 10….and that can’t happen since I need to finish up installing the new garage door opener here in a few minutes…still have a couple of hours of work to do but it looks pretty easy so I’ll have it done this morning….I do have to rewire the power feed since they have it routed through a switch and I want it to be powered all the time without having the flood lights on…but that will get done later in the week…didn’t get anything else done yesterday and the opener will be the only job for today so the leaves are going to wait a couple of days until they dry out some….but it looks like rain showers almost all week so that may take some doing…might be able to get an outdoor ride in today but I’m not going to push that…it’s only 36 out there and it is just so easy to walk downstairs to ride that I fear I’m going to get a little lazy about riding outside….I’ve already gotten to 4500 miles this year and that was the only goal I had…but I’m hoping to get to 5,000 before the end of the year…I guess that’s a new goal and that will get me to 15K miles over the last three years….not much to do today…just going to finish up the opener and then see where the day goes…not too motivated right now and I hope the coffee will help that….more later…

Well…as you know, I’ve been looking for a garage door opener since I bought this house but I winced at paying 160 bucks for one….but today, while I was looking at the ads that came with the paper, I saw a bargain that I really couldn’t believe from depot….they had a Genie belt drive, wifi enabled, 3/4 horse one for only 78 bucks….normally, this one is 178 bucks so less than half price…so, I jumped in the car and ran out to get one and it is now sitting in my dining room waiting for me to install it this week….I still can’t believe that I got one that cheap and it is going to be so cool to just pull up to the door and push a button to put the car in….and ride up to it and hit a button to put the bike away or get my tools out to work on the lawn…I’m pretty sure that my wifi won’t reach that far but I think I’ll take the phone out there and try it…it would be cool to get the door alert on my phone and be able to open and close it from here….yee ha….

Well…running about on time for a Sunday with getting out of bed at 7:10 and going out to get the paper…slept okay but I still think it’s weird that my nose plugs up if I sleep on my left side but it is clear if I sleep on my right….but I flip and flop all night so I can’t really control being able to breathe…and that sucks…at least it didn’t snow last night but it did rain and it is raining right now so it will be a downstairs ride again today and I am going to try to go 10 miles this morning…it is nice to not have to hurry to get out since I can go downstairs at any point with no prep….it looks like I won’t be able to pick up the leaves until Friday with rain showers forecast every day this week and that will give the rest of them a chance to fall…next week will be the first t-day in my house and my stress levels are so low knowing I have a place to live that it is going to be a good day….I may start doing some walking training around here with the England trip coming up in two years…and bike riding is not enough to be in shape for that….I do want a weight machine to start firming up but the prices are more than I want to pay…the last one I had only cost 180 bucks but the cheapest one now is over 400 bucks so I’ll have to think about that…..not much to do today….don’t have to cook with leftover chili and some eggs to use up and I really don’t need to clean much…I do need to get the dining room table cleared off for t-day so I’ll have a place to put the food when I’m done with it but I have more than a week to get that done so it will be easy…I need more coffee….more later….

Well…as you know, I put up a bird feeder on one of my living room windows and am no waiting for the birds to show up…today will mark 6 days it’s been up and still no birds…I even put some seed on the windowsill and on the sidewalk just to get some more surface area of seed and increase the chance that some bird will stumble on it…if they don’t show up, I don’t know what I’m going to do with the 40 lbs of seed I bought…maybe just put some piles out for the squirrels? I did get an indoor ride in this morning and finally got the bike adjusted on the trainer so it’s a little less noisy and that is cool…getting used to it and it is kind of a luxury to just be able to ignore the weather and walk downstairs to ride….I think I may up the mileage to 10 every day since I can do the 8 in about 45 minutes and I can spare an hour easily….my hair was getting a little shaggy so I did a quick cut on it and I appear to be getting better at it after I decided to use my beard trimmer to do the detail work…..so now, it’s football time until the F1 qualifying race comes on in an hour or so….

Well…damn, it snowed out here last night and all of my leaves are covered in snow…but, it’s raining out here right now so that should all melt by the end of the day and I hope the lawn dries up enough to pick them up Monday…this rainy/cold snap had made a bunch of them fall so it appears I’ll get most of them off the lawn this week…got a neat little gift from my daughter yesterday when she sent me the couch blanket she had been knitting for me…it is dark red made out of the softest Peruvian wool I have ever felt…feels more like silk than wool and she has has tags made she sewed on that say “handmade by J”…it is so well done I would guess it would go for a hundred bucks in a store…and it is going to be well used when it gets cold out here…or stays cold I should say….I really like having a clean fridge and the hour and a half I invested in cleaning was well worth it…not sure what took me so long to do it but it won’t be that long again….looks like another day on the inside bike with the rain going on out there and that isn’t bad…much more work to ride that one so 8 miles is more than enough to do….especially since it is one long ride with no rests and I come away soaked every time I use it….not much to do today…need to do some cleaning but I still have leftovers so no cooking…I did make chili the other day and had to remember the recipe since I can’t find any of the ones that were hanging on the fridge…it came out just like it should so I must have gotten it right….more later…

Well…I finally got off my butt and took the fridge apart and cleaned it from top to bottom…it was pretty darn dirty and I can’t remember if I cleaned it before I moved in…with how bad it was, I’m pretty sure I didn’t since it still had stickers on the shelves that I had to remove with a razor blade and goo gone and all kinds of spills under the drawers and I know I didn’t spill anything….it came out great and sparkly but that is the only thing I have done today and I am contemplating not riding at all today…still pretty sore from riding in the wind yesterday and, if I ride at all, it will be downstairs since it is even windier today…I hope the wind keeps up and keeps blowing the leaves out of my yard…I will have to pick them up Monday and get them out for pickup but I don’t think it’s going to be as bad as I feared….I do need to try to find a political topic for alter but I’m not having any luck right now….more later…

Well….damn, got up at 6:23 but don’t feel like I slept at all….my ribs hurt for some reason and I feel stiff even without doing much work yesterday…might be how I slept last night….and that sucks because I’m getting old and that happens….it looks like a wasted day today with the rain that is coming in waves so I’m going to stay off the outside bike today but will probably ride downstairs…I keep forgetting that I have that bike set up…I am going to clean the fridge today and probably do some dusting…don’t have to cook with having leftovers but need to plan food for later in the weekend to get more food out of the freezer before t-day so I’ll have room for the carcass…still have two ham bones in there for ham soup but I may just discard those since I have a container of ham soup in there, too, and don’t need 4 of them…I am going to wait until next Friday to buy my turkey so I can just thaw it and then cook it on t-day…I think I left it in the fridge too long last year when I bought it on the wed a week before t-day and it was a little off….I wonder what I’ll do if there aren’t any available that day? Just shrug it off I guess and cook something else…not sure what that would be…maybe a chicken? Not much to do today…need to run an errand this morning but I’m not too motivated to get out yet so I’m going to sit here and have coffee for a while…going to watch the new James Bond movie tonight but I just noticed it is over 3 hours and that is just weird….most movies are 90 minutes to two hours so I wonder why this one is so long? One good thing is that it will take up almost the whole night and allow me to not think for a while…more later….
