Well..it was an interesting day yesterday…not really, didn’t do much but lie out in the sun…and it only took about 30 mins to get scorched to the point I needed aloe to keep from peeling…yep, lead a very boring life….but today might be better…I have hope anyway….I do have things to do today starting with heading for G’s first in a little while and then to the normal routine but that will be broken up with drinks with K later in the aft….I have been good three nights in a row now…nope, four nights in a row and I am starting to feel better…but still no sleep but I’m waiting for the body to reset so I guess I’ll just have to be patient…I’ll be back in a while to add to this one and for others….I think the cobwebs are clearing a little and that means you’ll have more to see later…
Did you expect anything different?
Well…I’ve been reading about the big conference on Mackinac Island where the repubs and business leaders, who purport to represent the people of Michigan, are meeting to gloat over ramming through their radical right-wing agenda. Since this conference is supposed give voice to the plans to “reinvent” Michigan, where is the input from the ordinary Michigan citizen? Where is the input from organized labor? Where is the input from our retirees? The quick answer is nowhere….none of those groups were even invited to this “victory lap” where business and their repub lapdogs sip champagne on the porch of the Grand Hotel and make plans to steal even more of the state from you and me. What else can you call it when taxes are raised on everyone but business and then those taxes are given to the ceo’s who then will pad their pay that is already higher than ever in history. How does it feel to write a check to a ceo that makes 20 million dollars a year? What are you going to give up to make sure these guys get another summer home or two new Mercedes?
I guess we only have ourselves to blame for voting for these thieves…or, no, I blame everyone else…I didn’t and will never vote for these thugs….
June 2nd
Well… I was good last night and feel pretty good today…but we’ll see if that continues past the morning…I sure hope so…I am getting tired of being tired all the time….it was just a normal night last night…I did watch the movie “The Fighter” last night and it was just so much better than the “Black Swan”…so I’m two movies into the oscar nominated ones from last year..I think I’ll have to look up that list so I can order the right one next time…I did watch part of the Stanley Cup playoffs, too, but I just can’t get interested with the Wings not in it….sleep was okay last night but still no dreams and I miss that….not much to do today…might get the clubs out and go hit a bucket of balls but my elbow is a little sore so I might just rest it and take it easy…not quite warm enough to go to the beach but it looks like next week will be better…I will get more out today since the nonsense of the repubs is starting to get deep….

Well…it appears that the thoughts are coming in small bites today so that what is coming out and I guess I’ll just live with it…I don’t know if it is too soon to say I told you so…but a couple of months ago I predicted that without a continuing stimulus program that included additional government spending on infrastructure and other projects such as schools, roads, and high speed internet, that the economy would head back into recession and that is just what is happening. No matter what the repubs would have you believe, Keynesian economics and its principles that have been proven time and again over the years to be correct cannot be denied just because it goes against the orthodoxy of the repub party. And, they are compounding the problem by doing just what they did in the great depression…cut too much spending before the economy was self-sustaining. You know where this is going to go don’t you? These repub know-nothings are going to try to blame this on overspending by Obama…but, there appears to be a building groundswell of buyers remorse about the repubs control of the House and their radical right-wing agenda. Hope so….geez…
Oh, one last thing…if the business world truly believed the fantasy of the repubs economic policies, wouldn’t they still be hiring to get out ahead of the boom that is supposed to be coming? Business truly knows that the policy of cutting spending during a recession is wrong headed and they are predicting the results that are coming by not hiring any more people that they will just have to lay off when the second dip comes…stupid, stupid repubs…
The republicans are still hypocrites…
Well…if you needed any more evidence on how hypocritical the repubs are about austerity measures that they say are necessary to make the economies of many states healthy again…and those measures invariable hit the poor and aged like a ton of bricks, just take a look at the latest repub star and his “let them eat cake” moment. Yesterday, governor Chris Christie of New Jersey took a Sate Police helicopter to see his son’s baseball game….yep, he wants to cut the benefits for workers, the poor, and the middle class since the state is so broke, then spends thousands to illegally use state property for personal benefit. But, you know that is how these guys are; once they are in power they use the government as their own personal plaything on the backs of the voters…geez….can’t they do better?
June 1st
Well…had a fun day yesterday with lunch with T and then out to play pool with Tom…and I won for the first time in a month so that was the icing on the cake…I was good when I got home….the first day of no cocktails at home so I should feel better today…and I think I do but I just got up so I’m not sure yet…did not sleep at all which I know is a result of being good and I know it will take a few days to get back into the groove and reset the body. I do have some stuff to do today…have to rebuild the door on the car since the duct tape is coming apart and then the regular routine…looks like a nice day out there already and I need to get going since I’m already running late…there will be more later even if I have to force it since I barely made my numbers for last month…so, more later…

Well…as I said this morning, there has not been much going on in politics for me to write about and I guess it’s one of the problems a couterpuncher has…someone has to punch first…and no one is punching so I guess I’ll have to come up with something on my own. Hmmmmm…oh, Ohio State…as a Michigan fan, I’m having a hard time dredging up any sympathy for the situation there…I’m glad that Tressel resigned and that the shenanigans with almost their whole team has been exposed; the smirk has been taken off the face of their fans and they are going through what we went through with Rodriguez. They will always be known as cheaters now…
Oh, on politics….just some general stuff that has been percolating…I hope the repub idiots here in Michigan get their victory dances in now because they are going to pay in 2012….we may still have a repub governor, but we will have at least the house or senate back after these thugs gave the state away to business on the backs of retirees and the poor…the pendulum is going to swing back to sanity after the flirtation with the tea party and it’s right wing radicals. You heard it here first….that’s about it for now…thinking is not coming easily right now….but is is so much better than this morning…I think I’ll do a no booze day count…might be fun to chronicle…
May 31st
Well…yeah, I know…I’m not doing my job here but I just haven’t had much to say lately…I did have an okay day yesterday but I did have to turn the air con on to sleep last night…I just can’t get the picture out of my head that there was money going out of my wallet every time the thing came on…oh, well…went over to K’s yesterday for a little party and had some fun and I feel quite crappy this morning but today starts the being good for the summer phase so you won’t hear that from me anymore. I do have lunch with T today and I am looking forward to it and to the storms we are supposed to have later. I did get the bike cleaned up yesterday..it was just coated in crud and I didn’t even want to ride it….it is starting to look like it has the 7,000 miles on it that it does but that’s okay….that’s about it for now…I will be back later for politics and other stuff…
Okay…just thought I’d add a little to this one before I take off and go to lunch…..it was a really nice bike ride this morning but the wind was up again which always hurts like crazy…at least the real wind waited to come until I got back here….I don’t know if it’s me or not, but people seem to be getting nicer…yep, I’ll bet you never thought you’d hear that out of me but it appears that I’m seeing far fewer scowls and idiot behavior out there when I’m on my bike…or it could be that these people have seen me if full crazy mode on the bike before and it makes them laugh that an old guy like me tortures himself every day….don’t really care which…just hope it continues because it helps my mood considerably….more later….but it has been a slow news week again so nothing has outraged me…geez maybe I’m getting too mellow to keep doing this….
May 30th
Well…a long day yesterday with all of the racing but it did get kind of boring at the end of the napcar race…haven’t been feeling that hot lately…just so damn tired all of the time but that might be from boredom….who knows? I am looking forward to today but I’m not going to do a lot..it is supposed to be hot and I’ll finally get the chance to get the biker’s tan evened out if it doesn’t rain. Not much else to say right now so I won’t say it. More later…
George Will is a hypocrite…still….
Well….reading the papers today, I was stuck by an opinion piece that was done by George Will asserting that Obama is breaking the law by not reporting to Congress about the activities in Libya…with ole George just apoplectic that any president, especially this one, would break the law not be held accountable. Geez, George, are you getting so old you have no memory? You were one of the cheerleaders when ole GW gutted the constitution and broke not only our laws, but international ones along with abrogating treaties with his approval of torture and the warrantless wiretapping of US citizens. Even when it was revealed that GW and his team ginned up the evidence to go to war in Iraq, you still supported him and you said not one peep that it was against the law. I am getting so tired when the rats on the right will do or say anything to try to bring down a sitting president but give the thugs on their side a free pass to lie, cheat, and steal…you are supposed to be some kind of intellectual voice from the right but right now you are just another talking point reader that has no integrity…but I guess you just fit in with all of the other hypocrites on the right….geez…
