Well…that was probably a normal night for me with getting up at 5:08 and then out of bed before 6:30 to make a run out to get the paper…slept okay last night but I’m not as sore as I should be with doing 23 miles yesterday…not going to do two rides today but I am going to try to get out to do an outdoor ride today instead of taking the day off like I planned…but I won’t be getting out til after Man U plays at 9 so I have time to just relax a bit…I did make chili yesterday but probably shouldn’t have use the big can of crushed tomatoes…tastes way to much like tomato…I did go out and find the recipe that my daughter sent me years ago and I’ll go back to that one for the next batch….didn’t get much done yesterday but the bike rides and today will be the same…have leftovers to eat so I don’t have to cook and that’s good since I don’t feel like doing much right now…all of the snow is gone already out here except for some drifts out at the beach and it looks like we have a week or so before there is any in the forecast and I’ll take that…not much to do today…just going to ease into it and have some more coffee before I do anything….more later…
An effect of electric cars…
Well…with reading an article today about the effect that the adoption of electric cars is going to have, it reminded me that I had this same idea a couple of years back so I thought I’d talk about it a bit….in this article, the author posits that at the current pace of adoption where 17% of the cars in California are already electrics, there will be 50% less gas stations for the rest of us that will probably still have ICE cars…and the possibility of only having 1-2 stations in a town the size of Muskegon…right now, gas stations don’t make any money on gas but on the snacks and other stuff they sell…without people coming in for gas, though, they won’t have enough traffic to stay in business…so there is going to be huge disruptions in business related to ICE cars as less and less of them are on the road…I wonder if I’ll see a ban on them in my lifetime…could be…
Got an outdoor ride in..
Well…was just sitting here earlier with the sun pouring in my windows so I thought I’d check the temp outside to see if it was warm enough to ride…it was but the wind was blowing 13-20mph but I thought I’d give it try anyway….so I dragged a bike up from downstairs, suited up, and took the normal 15 mile ride to go with the 8 miles I did downstairs this morning…it was nice to get out to see people and I only had to walk the bike about a hundred yards through the sand drifts out by the beach…most of the ice is gone from Muskegon Lake and there is only about 20 yards of it along the edge of Lake Michigan and no big piles like it used to do….my back is going to hurt later but it was totally worth it…finally had some fun riding and not torture….and it looks like I can get outside the next three days so I may try to do a double outside…or maybe just do what I did today with an indoor and an outdoor ride…who knows?
February 11th
Well…running about on time today with waking up at 5:04 and then out of bed at 7:15 after lying there for a few minutes looking at the moon through my bedroom window…slept okay last nigh but my allergies are getting bad again and I can’t figure that out…there is nothing blooming yet but I can’t breathe through my nose at all this morning and that sucks…I did get a few things done yesterday and it just struck me that when I was a kid February was one of the coldest months of the year with frequent temps below zero but the rest of the month looks like it’s going to be above freezing so maybe winter is ending early this year? Hope so…want to get outdoors on the bike soon…I will be downstairs on the bike this morning but that is going to wait a bit so I can have coffee and read some news….I do have to rearrange the garage so I can have a space to put he bike in after getting the grill….getting to the limit of space in there so I can’t put anything else in it…not much to do today…going to make a pot of chili later but I’m not sure if that will be for lunch or dinner…we’ll see….more later…
A better day…
Well..after getting better sleep last night, I got off my butt today and got some things done…got a bike ride in and then took the car out to hand wash it at the car wash and try to get some salt off it….then back here for another ride, and then made an olive burger for lunch and did a little more cleaning and I now have dinner in the oven which is going to be two chicken legs and a roast potato…I’m basically done for the day other than doing the dishes and watching some tv later…not sure what that is going to be yet but I think “Battlebots” will be first and then down to second an third tier stuff for the rest of the night…used up all of good stuff last night with “1923” and “The Last of US” so maybe I’ll go out to netflix ans see if there is something out there before I cancel it….

Well…if you wanted to know how crazy the repubs have gotten in Missouri, just listen to this one…just yesterday they voted down and amendment to a bill in the repub controlled legislature that would have prevented children from open carrying firearms…so now I guess it’s legal there for toddlers to carry AR-15’s…can you imagine the carnage that would happen if you allow hormonal teenagers to carry around hand guns or semi automatic rifles? This is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard…don’t they remember what it was like to be a teenager? The fights? Now let’s add a deadly weapon into that mix…red states really are become terrible places to live and I can see a mass exodus out of them as they continue to go down the crazy path….geez…
February 10th
Well…slept through til 5:04 this morning and was able to go back to sleep til almost 7 so I’ll consider that a win…but I still feel pretty worn out today so the bike will wait til around 9 or so…just started the first cup of coffee so it will take a while to work this morning…if it does, I may get on the bike by 8 so I can wash the car today….need to look outside to see if the precip last night was rain or snow since the little weather widget on the banner is saying wintry mix but it is 35 out there…nope it just changed to 33 so it could be snow…don’t even feel like getting up to look out the window and my back hurts for some reason today even without doing anything yesterday…..I did have a meal and a half yesterday but they were small ones and today will be the same…going to make chili tomorrow and then start to plan what has to come out of the freezer…froze most of the burger I got at aldis this week but I did keep a couple of pounds out since I haven’t had any beef in a few months….not much to do today….just going to ease into it and have coffee here for a bit before I head down for the first ride…it’s going to be a struggle to do two today but I am going to try….more later…
Took a veg day…
Well…took a veg day today and didn’t get on the bike…just wasn’t feeling it and didn’t even get to a shower until after 2pm…my legs hurt much more than normal and I was hobbling around here and still am…but now it’s from sitting here all day and not doing anything…it has rained out here all day and most of the snow is gone so now we just wait for more…I am going to try to wash the car tomorrow morning since it has salt all over it and I can barely see out of the windows…and I will get back on the bike for two rides tomorrow…I may do the car between them since all this rain has washed the salt off the roads…or I could do it sat morning but would rather get it done while everyone else is working….right now, I’m going to start to wind down for the night…going to use up all of my good shows tonight and the go back to the second tier shows tomorrow…..

Well…yeah, I’m really late today with taking the day off to lie on the couch and watch movies…but I did want to talk about the stupidity of the repubs when it comes to video evidence of what they say…I mean they do know there is video, right? It started Tuesday when Biden called them out on their plans to eliminate SS and Medicare…and they all complained loudly that they never said they were going to do that…cue the video…so today, reporters kind of did their jobs and had the tape ready when the asked Mike Lee if he was going to cut those popular and vital programs and he again denied it…so they rolled the tape and the idiot just got pissed and walked away…I saw this happen a couple of times in my feed over at Mastodon and I can understand why they keep lying…after all, not one damn repub has been held accountable for their lies so they will just keep doing it unless the media elevates the truth and continues to confront them with it…and the rest of the dems need to “Biden up” and do the same…oh, and I’ll copyright “Biden Up” tm…I thought that one up right now…
February 9th
Well…that was a little better…up at 5:04 but stayed in bed til 6:23 but that was not enough to make up for the sleep deficit from Tuesday night so I am dragging this morning…I did get the house cleaned up yesterday for Tom’s visit and it was nice to see him and Lucy…only did one ride yesterday but need to do two today…was going to wash the car but it is raining out there right now and it looks like it will be going on for quite some time…so that may wait til tomorrow…I did make some guac yesterday but the avocados were so bad I had to throw half of them away…I guess that’s what you get for 49 cents each….only had about 600 calories yesterday with one chicken leg, half a baked potato, and some corn…okay, nope, that’s only about 400 calories so that could be why I’m so worn out today…I wonder if this is going to be a day off? Sure don’t feel like doing anything today…the weather widget at the bottom of my screen has a new one today with “heavy mix” that I’m assuming means it’s just cold enough to make the heavy rain turn into kinda snowing….not much to do today…did the laundry and cleaned yesterday so it may be the day to just veg it out and take it easy…but you know I won’t…at least I’m not sore today….more later…
