Well…crap…have had a tooth screaming at me all day and can’t get in to the dentist until Tuesday so it looks like I may be breaking the dry month tonight to deal with the pain if the orajel and ibuprofen doesn’t do it…crap, and crap again….I had planned to get on the dental work this week since I’m taking the week off and I know I’ve needed it for a long time but I really wanted to do it on my schedule …but maybe it’s a good thing I’m being forced to get started on it…it is going to cost multiple thousands to get everything done but I may as well get started on it so I can finally eat something cold or hot without pain…and they need to remove the molar that has been loose for years and start figuring out if I need to put an implant in to replace it…and that will be thousands more so maybe I won’t be able to afford another Miata this year…crap again…oh, well…
Got the living room done…
Well…yeah, okay…I am cheating a little to get the post count up and try to keep pace with the record number I did last month…but, with three days less this month, I won’t make it but I’ll keep trying so who knows? The living room has been bugging the heck out of me for the past few weeks with all of the dust and neglect that lead to the black tv and tv stand turning grey with all of the dust…and the couch cushions were all wonky with being out of shape with me not rotating them for over a month…and it too was covered in dust and I vacuumed the whole thing and now it looks new again…and I washed the floors on my hands and knees since my mop self destructed doing the basement floor the other day and I had to do them by hand…but it is cool that it is only a little after 11 and I am done for the day other than putting the laundry away that I am doing right now….as I said yesterday, it is really nice to have some semblance of organization in here again but I still have some more to do that will have to wait a while…I need to finish the coffee and make some lunch in a bit but I am going to enjoy my work a bit first and watch some Olympics….and maybe do another one of these later…after all, I’ve got all day…

Well…with the astroturf “protests” going on in Canada that is shutting down auto plants here in the US, I think the Ford, Chrysler, and GM should do is sue the rich assholes that are known to be funding the lawbreaking…and I can’t believe that Canada hasn’t just started to tow all of the semis and impound them until they pay the fines for illegal parking or whatever other charge they can come up with…I know there are statutes that can be used to stop disruption of international commerce that are felonies, so why haven’t they just pulled these assholes over and arrested them? If it was BLM doing it, there would be dead bodies all over the road and thousands in jail by now, so I wonder what the difference is? Look, there are just a few rich assholes who are funding these “protests” so the auto makers should be in court right now suing the hell out of them since losing money is the only thing they understand…and then I’d include every person who is involved on the street…I do support freedom of speech and peaceful protest but why is there s different standard for right wing protests than there is for us on the left? Can you imagine the outrage that would be happening on all of the right wing media if this was funded by George Soros or other left wing billionaires? Geez….
February 11th
Well…this kind of sucks a little…not how I slept…but I did wake up at 3:20 and didn’t get out of bed til 6:22…what sucks is that we got about 4 inches of the first really heavy, wet snow out here last night that I am going to have to shovel after I get done with the bike ride…but, all I have to do is take my time and I’ll get it done…and my coffee table fell apart last night when the mounting for one of the legs broke off and I had to glue it back on overnight…it appears that I have it fixed but I wonder why it just broke off with no warning…it’s not like I sit on it or put any other stress on it but it is over 20 years old so I guess it was time for it to fail…darn, I’m running late this morning since it is already time for me to get on the bike and I don’t have this done or have my first cup of coffee down…so I guess I’ll have to get my butt in gear here in a few minutes….I did get a lot done with the cleanup yesterday and today is living room day and I am finally going to get the dust out of here and clean the couch and switch the cushions to even out the wear….the wind is blowing like crazy out here again today and it is warm out there at 37 already and the weather is going to be a little crazy with the temp going down and up for the next week from 20 to almost 50 but it looks like no big snow after today….not much to do today…just the bike and cleaning and I’m really not sure if I can take the week off I planned to start tomorrow…will probably still do some small things to organize the basement and finish getting everything put away up here…more later…
This is nice…
Well…after cleaning up and putting everything away today, it is really nice to walk around here with not stepping on an extension cord or anything else from the kitchen work…and this place seems so much bigger without all of the totes, pots and pans, and food everywhere….and the downstairs is cleaner than it has been in the almost year since I moved in here and that is pretty cool…but I really do want to take some time off after the 6 weeks of daily work I had to do to get the kitchen done….and that is going to happen starting Saturday morning since I think I can get everything else done tomorrow including clearing out the spare bedroom so I can start working on that sometime soon…but not for at least a week…or more since I do want to complete the kitchen before I start on any new projects….with the kitchen almost done, the rest of the work I need to do doesn’t seem so daunting and I am hoping to get the dining room and living room painted before summer…maybe I’ll start that before the bedroom? The dining room should be pretty easy with only the windows and the baseboards to do before I paint the walls…and they only need to be cleaned before I can paint them so it should be easy…now it’s time to take the rest of the day off…still on the no cocktail thing and today makes 38 days of being good but I still don’t know how long it’s going to last…we’ll see….
Got some cleanup done…
Well…I really didn’t know that I would have just as much work to do cleaning up as I did repairing the cabinets in the kitchen…and I didn’t think it would hurt my hands as much as that work did either….I did have to run an errand this morning to get some pepperoni that they didn’t have yesterday so I can make a pizza this weekend but then the cleanup started in earnest…had to wash all of the dishes that I wanted to put in the cupboards and I am on the 4th load of those but I think I’m done with that for the day…and I vacuumed the basement floor again this morning to get the dust I missed yesterday and then mopped it so I can start using the space again without tracking dust all over the place…then, on to the dining room where I had to organize my work materials and get rid of the trash in there that had built up from using it for a work area for weeks….and then vacuumed that floor and washed it and the dining set since it was covered in a thick film of dust…and, even though my hands felt okay when I got up, they hurt as bad as they did when I was working on the cabinets and the stiffness has returned making typing this painful on every stroke…so, the living room is going to wait til tomorrow even though the dust coating is bugging the hell out of me…I was supposed to be able to take a week off but I sure couldn’t do that with the house so dusty and messy so maybe I can start that after I finish up the dust removal tomorrow…sure hope so, I am worn out….
Maggie Haberman is not a journalist…
Well…you know, I’m getting damn sick and tired of so called “journalists” who do reporting and find crimes committed by politicians but then lock them in their little boxes labeled “book profits” and keep quiet about them until the book comes out. This is a plague on the media these days since it seems that not one damn journalist does what he or she was hired to do…and that is report the news as it happens…and that is no more true that with the NYT’s Maggie Haberman who has taken segregating facts for profit to an art form when she should have reported what she learned about the idiot trump over his 4 years in office…and the big bombshell that she should have reported on when she learned it years ago was the idiot boy regularly tore up presidential papers and ate them, shredded them, or flushed them down a toilet which plugged up and aides had to go fish them out to preserve them in accordance with the law…now, wouldn’t it have been nice to know this stuff when the impeachments were going on? At least we now know why idiot boy was so obsessed with it taking “10 or 15 flushes” to clear out his toilets…look, let’s fault the NYT, too, since they ran the “scandal” about Hillary’s e-mails on the front page for months when there was nothing to it but where there is the real scandal of trump stealing classified documents and hoarding them at his bedbug palace in Florida, it gets two paragraphs on page 15 and that’s it…no continuing story, no nothing…and when one of it’s reporters, Haberman, lies to her editors to hold back things she has learned on their dime to make bucks for herself with cost to the country…not a damn peep out of them….Haberman should at least be fired for her ethical lapses during the trump debacle…but that won’t happen either…the media has completely lost sight of it’s responsibilities and none of them are worse than the NYT…geez…oh, and here’s a post script…during Watergate, Woodward and Bernstein didn’t “save facts for the book” as Haberman did…just sayin…
February 10th
Well…that was a little better….slept okay and didn’t toss and turn much and feel okay this morning but, when I look at my right hand, it looks like I have been in a bare knuckle fight with all of the cuts and bruises on it….it does feel a little better and not as stiff this morning so I’ll take that…and it gives me hope that rest will make it usable again…I did finish the kitchen cabinets yesterday and started to fill them back up with my dishes and food and it is kind of cool to not work out of totes anymore…but I will need to complete that today so I can clear off my dining room table since I want to make a pizza in a couple of days and need it to press the homemade dough out before I put it on my pizza pan…and I was bad and bought some brats yesterday since they were on sale and I had a taste for them….I do need to run out to Meijers on Sternberg this morning since the one over here was out of pepperoni and it just isn’t pizza without pepperoni…it is pretty cool that my grocery bill has gone down from around 60 bucks a week to 20 with not buying cocktail materials anymore….almost had a cocktail last night, though, to celebrate getting the major work done in the kitchen but I am so used to not doing it that it has become a habit and that is pretty cool…not much to do today…just the bike ride and then more cleaning today with the patina of dust that everything has in the upstairs and I need to continue to clean downstairs, too…it looks pretty good where I had the dust room in the basement and it has never been cleaner…I did have to laugh how the dust highlighted the cobwebs that were in the floor joists but I got them all removed and will have to do that for the entire basement to make me happy….and it just looks good clean…I even cleaned the water heater, furnace, and water meter yesterday along with the water and gas pipes in that area and it sets a standard that I want to continue for the rest of the basement….more later….
Do they know something we don’t?
Well…it has been a curious couple of days with the first cracks appearing in the trump hold on what is left of the repub party and the question comes to mind is why? Why now when it has been more than a year since idiot boy instigated the attack on the capital and they have been silent until this week? What I think is happening is that there is huge amount of CYA going on with McConnell, Pence and the rest of the repubs who have broken with trump…I think they know that trump is toast with what is coming from the January 6th committee and the rest of the investigations of the criminal…and they just want to start distancing themselves while they still can before idiot boy gets charged and that distancing gets much, much harder. It will still be fun to watch…maybe the dam has broken and the orange moron is going to be left to rot at bedbug palace in Florida…we can only hope…
Let’s talk about Dolly…
Well…with news every day about crappy celebrity behavior that seems to flood into the air every day, the latest news about Dolly Parton is a welcome breath of fresh air…not surprising, but fresh air anyway. For a little personal background, I’m not a country music fan and don’t really follow it much but when I was young, my mother was a huge country fan with WJEF always playing with the real country music…at least to my mind, and she liked to watch the country music shows like Rem Wall and the Porter Wagoner show that Dolly was on…so I have been aware of her just about my entire life…and in that time, I don’t remember anyone saying a bad word about Dolly, and her genuine niceness was always who she was and that never changed in all those years…and there have been too many times to count where she used her well earned fortune to help people all over the country, and you very seldom heard about it…and now, her latest bid at making life better for a lot of people just made my jaw drop….just yesterday, it was announced that every employee at Dollywood no matter whether they are permanent, seasonal, or temps qualify for having their college paid for completely…tuition, books, fees and any other costs will be covered…and the cool thing is that you didn’t see Dolly out there taking credit for it even though it has to be her idea….now this is one of the coolest things I have ever heard and it puts all of the whining CEO’s across this country to shame as they bitch and moan that they can’t afford healthcare for their people, or raises, or anything else…and we all know that is because it would cut into their pay and they all think they are worth the millions they get paid while their employees are worth nothing. So, all I have to say is good on ya, Dolly…just keep being you…
