Well…just a short one on a bit of good news that happened today on Staten Island in NY…an Amazon warehouse workforce voted to approve a union and it is the first one that Amazon hasn’t been able to lie, cheat, and steal to prevent…and the delicious bit of irony is the union organizer was a former worker that was fired for promoting the union…which is really against the law but Amazon got away with it somehow…okay, we know how…payoffs and millions of dollars to professional union busters that come in and lie to and threaten the workers with the bad things that will happen to them if they vote for the union…and with the record of abuse that Amazon piles on it’s workers, it is easy to understand why it would scare the workers into voting against the union. But, not this time….and it is a brand new union that Amazon is going to have to negotiate with as they try to make Amazon pay a living wage and actually adhere to the labor laws that they regularly ignore or break. So, congrats Amazon union… good job and let’s hope it’s just the start…after all, Jeff Bezos can surely afford to compensate his workers fairly…but, as we see with all these billionaire assholes, they are not happy until they have all the money that they make on the backs of their workers…oh, and one last thing…a quote from the organizer, Chris Smalls…”we want to thank Jeff Bezos for going into space, because while he was up there we were organizing a union”….a good bit of shade there…

Amazon’s scam…
Well…not sure if you saw this in the news over the weekend, but I think it’s a story that needs a little more attention so I thought I’d give it a little here. Earlier this year, there was a huge pushback against Amazon and it’s efforts to extort the people of New York for billions of dollars to locate one of it’s headquarters there…it was was reported that the cost would be over 3 billion dollars in bribe money to get them to come…but, AOC and many people in NY said no…they were not going to buy jobs on the back of the people and they rebelled at the disclocation of thousands of people and businesses that the project would hurt. There was a huge outcry by the usual suspects that AOC didn’t care about the people and that now Amazon’s 25K projected jobs would be lost…where they got that figure is still a mystery since Amazon only projected 700 jobs in the first year of the project and that maybe over 20 or 30 years it “might” mean that there MAY be more jobs coming…just as in every damn project like this…nothing but promises. So, the city rejected the project and the corporate welfare that came with it, but guess what? Yep, Amazon just announced that they are bringing 1500 jobs to NYC anyway…without the people having to buy those jobs and they are leasing in an area that won’t displace the low income people that their original plan would have….gee…I wonder who was right here? The repub hand wringers who were championing the giveaway to their rich buddies or a rep who was thinking about the people she represents? I hope this is not the only successful rejection of corporate welfare and maybe it will be a trend? These subsidies or extortions have been going on too long and left a trail of broken promises and theft that shows that if everyone rejects these projects, maybe corporations will start paying their fair share and we can get back to sanity where the rich don’t get to continue to steal from the rest of us….we can hope…
Mr. Destructo….
Well…if you have been watching the antics of Mr. Destructo…aka the idiot trump, you’ve seen that he has been in a twitter feud with Jeff Bezos over some truthful coverage of the idiot in the Washington Post which Bezos owns, and the idiot has taken to trying to punish Bezos by threatening actions against Amazon…which have resulted in Amazon losing over 50 billion dollars in valuation as it’s stock has fallen. Now, none of the things that idiot boy has spouted off about, like renegotiating the Post Office’s contract to deliver for Amazon, and some nonsense about Amazon not paying enough taxes (which the repubs are responsible for with their tax cut for corporations) can be done, but to threaten a public company with government retaliation for publishing a story the idiot doesn’t like is pure impeachable offense…if the repubs would just do something about it. Who does that 50 billion loss in evaluation hurt? Basically anyone who has an IRA or 401K….you know, working people who the idiot was supposed to protect…and bought into his propaganda that he was a “great businessman”…when the reality is that he has failed at everything he has ever tried and has been bailed out every time by the Russians or the mob. What needs to happen right now is a lawsuit by some investor who has lost money by Amazon’s stock decline….it would be really easy to prove cause and effect of the idiot’s attacks and the stock price decline…and it would put just a little more pressure on Mr. Destructo and maybe we’ll see him blow…hope so….impeach….
Isn’t that wrong?
Well….as the repub tax scam’s effects continue to be reported by the press, a little noted news item from yesterday really rams home how unfair it really is…and I am going to make this a little personal. It was reported that Amazon is not going to pay a penny in taxes on income of over 5.6 billion dollars….yep, not one damn dime on 5.6 billion dollars in income…isn’t that wrong? Isn’t it wrong that all of you reading this are going to have to pay taxes and Amazon doesn’t? We all know that the tax code is slanted to favor the rich and business, but this latest cut, passed by repubs, makes that slant even higher, allowing many companies in this country to not pay anything…wouldn’t it be nice if some of that “trickled down” to you and me? I guess I shouldn’t bitch too much since Amazon and I paid the same amount of taxes to the feds this year…but, I paid some to Michigan so my taxes were higher than Amazon’s this year…isn’t that wrong? Yep….geez…
