June 19th

Well…it was a hot, long day yesterday and I didn’t really accomplish much…didn’t sleep much either last night and I feel kind of strange this morning…I was good, though so that can’t be it…I am going out to get the papers today since it is already over 75 degrees heading for 90+ so I guess I’ll have to get the bike ride in early….not much to do today…I am waiting on finding out if there is a MP trip in the cards today and I just hate waiting for things to happen…oh, well… that’s life…I’ll be back later for more since I may be working up the outrage again…

Just can’t get outraged…oh, maybe I can…

Well…I’m not sure what is going on since I haven’t been able to work up any political outrage for the last couple of weeks…I did want to make a short comment on the ‘promise’ from the repubs that, if the healthcare law gets struck down by the supreme court, that they will do nothing on healthcare until after the election…they will do nothing for the millions of young people who will be thrown off their parents policies, they will do nothing for the millions of people who will lose their coverage due to pre-existing conditions…and they will do nothing for the millions of people who will still be living on the ragged edge of losing it all for being uninsured. But, as you know, that is what the repubs do…nothing…and then just sit there and bitch about someone else trying to make things better for the middle class all the while convincing the stupid electorate that if they trust them, they will do something in the future…like more tax cuts for the rich…geez…

June 18th

Well….it was a total veg day yesterday and I accomplished nothing…but, I did hear from all of the kids and that was kind of cool…slept really crappy, as always, and I am having trouble getting started today….it is going to be another hot one so I do need to get out on the bike early but there is just no motivation to write this or do anything else…so, I am going to stop here and come back to add later…

Okay…just got back from coffee and had a few comments to add…took the car in to have the trans and diff checked for oil today and they were both good…they even showed me the oil and it looked new…and they didn’t even charge me for the work which was pretty cool…one weird thing at the coffee shop…the entire 45 minutes that I was sitting outside reading the papers, there was a guy sitting there idling in his car doing something…what can you do for 45 minutes sitting in a car with it running…while you are alone, that is? Some people just don’t have any courtesy in them….at least it wasn’t a diesel F-350….

Part two…

Well…it has been a total veg day today with just watching races, soccer, and cooking…I did make this huge ham today that I will have to freeze a couple pounds from…or more, really, since it is so huge….I did hear from all of the kids but one today for father’s day and that was kind of nice but I don’t really celebrate it….the allergies are crazy with all of the hot weather and I have been miserable all day today…I may have a couple of cocktails tonight to watch the end of “The Killing” but, with being up since about 5, I am going to bed early…probably at 10 when the show is over…I have been falling behind but politics have been so depressing that I don’t want to think about it…how in the world can the liar Romney even be in the race? I guess stupidity runs rampant in the American electorate…

June 17th

Well…it was a bust of a day yesterday with the party being so boring I took off after a couple of hours…got wet coming home when the skies just opened up when I had the top down…had to stop under an overpass to put it up…it was okay until it started to rain as hard as I can remember and the wind was whipping the rain into the car…it was nice to get home here and just hang out the rest of the night and that looks like the plan for today…it is so damn humid that I am damp…I may have to put the air on in a while to just dry things out…not much to do today…going to cook this huge ham that I bought for 99 cents a pound and then just watch races and soccer….I may be back for one later…who knows?

June 16th

Well…running late again today but today I have an excuse of sorts…I was out on the bike at 6:30 and then over to Meijers to get that done before the start of the LeMans race…I know it’s a 24 hour race but I wanted to see the start and the lead in….it was a tiny bunny alert on the trail today and I counted over 60 of them in 15 miles…they were much less skittish than usual at that time in the morning with some of them just sitting there as I rode by…I was a little surprised that there were so many people out at that time in the morning and everything looked different with the sun in my face…neat, though….I do have things to do today…have a bash out at Wabasis lake to go to this aft and the car is waxed and ready to go….I did try some new wax yesterday that is the the easiest thing I have ever used and will never go back to anything else…just spray on and wipe off…no white crap to take off and it make a really nice shine….so, that means that I won’t be back for another one today…or probably won’t…who knows?

Troglodyte Republicans rule in Michigan…

Well….if you needed a reason to believe that the repubs running this state are troglodytes from another era, you just need to hear what happened yesterday in the House here in Michigan. While there was a debate going on over putting onerous new restrictions on women’s freedom by restricting access to abortion, one of the female house members got up to speak and used the word “vagina” in telling them to keep their hands off her health….well…after this happened, two of the women that opposed these new restrictions and had spoken out against them were not allowed to speak on other bills that were pending in the House….silenced because they opposed the majority and dared to speak out against them…I shouldn’t really be surprised with the way that the repubs here govern…like they don’t have to follow the rules and will use any tactic to make sure the opposition has no voice…from the restrictions put on voting rights to this latest outrage the repubs here show every day that they don’t care about democracy, just the naked exercise of power to ensure their extreme right wing agenda gets jammed down out throats…geez…

June 15th

Well…running late today…and as you probably noticed, I didn’t come back for another one yesterday…plans changed, things happened, and I decided to go out to shoot pool instead…and I won the week so that was cool….but, with that, I feel a little crappy today and don’t have a lot running around in my head so I’m going to keep this one short…I want to wash the car before I go read the papers so I can wax it later….and I have things to get done around here today…I’m not sure if the spray on sunscreen works that well since I feel burned today and it is a 30…we’ll see…more later…

June 14th

Well….it was a day yesterday but I didn’t do much…just some work around here and then some soccer…and then so much boredom last night that I re-read the last three days of papers while I had the Tigers and Cubs game on…slept a little better last night but was up at 3:30 and that is getting old but there were more than 4 hours of sleep so I guess I shouldn’t bitch…there were dreams that I don’t remember and I slept wrong again so my right shoulder/neck hurts like crazy….I was good, too, so I feel pretty good…and that is good since I have a pretty full day starting with the grocery run and then errands and a trip out to Cascade….and the first new episode of “Burn Notice” for summer is on later so there will need to be a cocktail or two to watch it…I will be back for more later and it may even be a good one so come on back…

I’ll grudgingly give it to Snyder…

Well…as you know, I’ve had mixed feelings about our governor here in Michigan, and when I think that he is falling to the right wing nuts in his party he does what he did today…thinking about the people of the state by bypassing the legislature and working on an agreement with Canada and the Federal government to build a new bridge from Detroit to Canada. After the ambassador bridge owner, Matty Maroun, bought enough legislators in his party to stall legislation that would approve the bridge, Snyder proved that he may be the pragmatist that he has claimed to be by using the powers of the governor’s office to move the state ahead…to stop the extortion by the Marouns and to make trade easier between the US and our largest trading partner….and to remove the bottleneck that creates hours of delays for the trucks carrying that trade. So, for today, I’ll say “good job” and keep it up for bucking a big donor and doing what is right for all of the people of Michigan…
