Well..it’s Sunday so you know the pattern…waiting for the coffee to finish so I can put on Pandora and read the paper….man, it is so depressing to have it rain constantly for two days…okay, right now almost everything is depressing so I guess I shouldn’t blame it on the weather…I was pretty good last night do I feel better today than I have in a long time and I am looking forward to taking a lazy day and watching a movie I’ve had sitting in my mailbox for a couple of days…the problem is the movie is “Casino Jack” and I just watched the documentary of the same name so it’s going to be hard to believe Kevin Spacey as Jack Abramhoff…but I will give it a try later this morning….not much to do today…going to make ribs with G’s recipe today and I am looking forward to having something other than chicken….but I still do need to clean and get the garbage out…not walking out in the rain, though, so that will be much later from the way the radar looks…..I am behind on these for the month do maybe today will be a catch up day, who knows?

Well….I almost didn’t survive the day yesterday and felt like crap all day both mentally and physically…didn’t even go out for coffee and papers since I didn’t want to read about the Wings….feel much better today and thought I’d get this update out before the coffee finishes and Man U comes on….one good thing that will come from the Wings losing is that I can stop having cocktails watching them and I can use the rest…not much to do today..I really do have to get to cleaning this place up and laundry….but I’m going to read the papers first and watch a little soccer…I will get at least one more of these out since it looks like it’s going to rain most of the day and I will need to use the caffeine some way…more later…

Well…I’m the soul of depression this morning since the Wings lost last night….so, this is it for now…just wanted you to know I’m still alive….
The torture lies…
Well….this one is the continuation of the one down below where I started to comment on the article by John McCain in the Washington Post today where he takes the torture apologists that fox news has trotted out to task…calling their assertions that the information that led to Osama bin Laden came from torture lies….you know I’m not a big McCain fan…but it is about time someone on the right stood up and told the truth just once….It was not ole GW that did everything but order the raid that killed him…his waffling and reliance on his “gut” instead of facts let bin Laden live for so long and these are facts…something I know that the repubs really are not acquainted with. So, I will thank McCain for this too little, too late, denunciation of the fox liars…and hope that more on the right discover the truth and their spines…geez…

Let’s go Red Wings!
Well…this has got to be one of the most exciting days in sports for us folks here in Michigan with our Wings taking on the Sharks in Cali later today…I don’t know if I thought this day was possible when they started out with three losses but the comeback has been one of the most nerve-wracking, exciting, examples of teamwork I have ever seen. We love our Wings, but this performance, win our lose tonight, will keep me smiling throughout the summer but will be tinged with some sadness because we all know that it will be Drapes last season, and possibly Nick’s too. It is so great that I will be able to see this one and have the chance to listen to Ken and Mickey one more time…or maybe a lot more times, who knows? I will be back to add to this one as the day goes on and I get even more geeked than I am right now…don’t know if that is possible….
Okay…I think you’ve figured out by now that I won’t be doing a political one today….oh, there was one thing that I wanted to comment on…John McCain had an editorial in the Washington Post today where he calls…nope…going to make this a new one…look up
One thing I failed to mention was the fact that this will probably be Ozzie’s last year with the Wings, too, and I know that many fans never really warmed to him…but, you win two cups, doesn’t that deserve respect? I think so…more later…it’s later….this is going to be an all Red Wings night with Tuesday’s game being replayed at 6 and then a full hour long Red Wings Live at 8…then the game at 9…I hope I remember it since I’m going to get started with K for HH and that is going to make it a long night and a Friday I’m not looking forward to….but you do have to pay to play…

Well…overdid it a little last night…seems like a pattern for the last week and I’m going to blame it on the hockey playoffs…needless to say, I’m a little sluggish and part of it is allergies…I hope. Did have fun out with G last night and I am looking forward to the Wings game tonight…got a long bike ride in yesterday and I’m a little sore today but I might survive it…got a compliment last night where one of the people in the bar didn’t believe I’m as old as I am….small things can make me happy. Not much to do today..going to lay out in the sun and start to get some color…or even out the stripes that I get from being out on my bike…going to have a couple with K later and then get ready for the game….more later…
Manny is still an idiot….
Well..just when I thought I wasn’t going to have a topic for today, ole Manny Lopez from the Detroit News comes up with another of his ideology driven, ridiculous columns that I just have to comment on. Manny actually went to California and goes off on the administration and it’s attempt to lower the countries oil usage by the subsidies for hybrids…basing all of his vitriol on his observations that everyone in California is not driving one. He then goes on to try to make the point that California’s regulations are so stringent that they will force only small cars to be purchased then in the next paragraph he contradicts himself by saying people are still buying what they want using the example of the Ford F-150 being the best selling vehicle in the country. It was hard for me to even get my head around this pretzel logic (thanks Steely Dan) to see what his point is. I think he was trying to make the point that the government is interfering in the markets by the hybrid subsidies and trying to force us into cars we don’t want.
But, who knows….you should go read that for yourself…if you don’t have a headache after it, I am jealous…and I can’t figure out why he still has a job…
May 11th
Well…I earned feeling crappy this morning with the Wings game and another win….now we go back to Cali thursday to complete the comeback….man…I can’t even think…it was a high stress day waiting for the game to start yesterday….nope, can’t do this right now….need water and the couch….might be back before I go to coffee…or not…
Okay…feeling much better after coffee and the brain is working a little better so let’s get something done…man, that was one of the best hockey games I’ve seen in years…full power the whole time with no let ups by either team…I was grinning like an idiot watching the punch and counterpunch that was going on; how do they do it? and, Pavel in another fight…I am so glad we have the best player in the league on our team…I did have a pretty good day yesterday…it is so nice to have the weather start to cooperate and be able to go out on the bike in the morning….not much to do today…I think out to have a couple with G later but that is about it…and I think I have plans with K for tomorrow…it is nice to have something to look forward to…I will get another one out later today…Manny Lopez is off the rails again and I just have to comment…
More wandering…
Well…still not a lot happening in politics so far this week so I think I’ll just wander around again like yesterday and go off on some topics that aren’t really formed yet but I’m going to give it a try anyway. First, let’s start with the laugher of the day, ole Newt is going to run for president, yeah, I laughed my ass off, too. What is he going to run as? The family values candidate? He was on tv the other day trying to explain cheating on the first two of his three wives and said that since god forgives him, no one should question him about it. Pretty frickin convenient when you think of it….trying to place all of the bad behavior off limits and saying “trust me” that he can still be the arbiter of family values and a role model for America. Yow….he does have a huge set….
What else? Not sure right now…I’m going back to think for a while….should be back before 1 or so…okay, I’m late but the Red Wings are pushing everything else out of my head today…so I’ll talk about them….Sunday’s was one of the most exciting games I’ve seen in a long time and my concern is that they left it all on the ice out in Cali…but they didn’t work that hard in the first three games so maybe they have something left in the tank…and the Sharks do have a reputation for choking in the playoffs so maybe they’ll do it again….we do have an injury problem with Frantzen’s ankle and Pavel’s wrist but it would be nice to see Modano in for one last game, no matter what, it’s going to give me a damn heart attack..Go Wings!!
May 10th
Well…this one is going to be short so I can get back to the couch and try to recover after yesterday…I think I’m just getting old….maybe it’s a good omen that I came from 3 games down and won the night last night at pool…so now the Wings have to do the same thing tonight….not much of a day yesterday other than shooting pool….and not much to do today…I may just skip the coffee and papers today I feel so crappy….more later…
Okay…fell like I’ve cheated a little this morning and I want to get past that…I did go out for coffee and I am beginning to feel human again…should be much better after working out and getting on the bike which I am going to do right now…I am getting really geeked up about the Wings game tonight…will probably go out and watch part of it at the bar since I would like to be part of the win that I’m sure is coming….I hope….it would be cool to take it to game 7 and win it in their building…and have the Sharks choke again…I will be back later with more topics but the weight machine is calling and I should get to it or I’ll find an excuse to skip and be lazy…
