Well…let’s just stop right now trying to equate the two political parties in this country…I’ve had enough of bothsiderism that has been the bane of our exisitence for many, many years and let’s take a look at what each party is doing right now….on the dem side, they are poised to pass one of the greatest pieces of legislation to benefit the majority of Americans that includes direct payments to 80% of the people, tax credits for children, support for state and local governments that are underwater from the pandemic and a myriad of other ways to support our economy as we dig our way out of this mess…on the repub side we only see bitching and complaining and Dr. Suess…no policy suggestions other than tax cuts for the rich and voter suppression…all ways to make this country worse, not better as the dems are trying mightily to do. On the dem side, they are working on a labor bill that would get rid of the right to work laws whose only purpose was to kill unions, and would make it easier to form a union and restrict what employers can do to hurt their workers that want a union. On the repub side…I got nothin…they don’t give a damn about workers or any other Americans so it’s just all bullshit all the time…so don’t tell me the parties are the same, ever again…geez…

March 10th
Well…I guess 4:10 is the new normal for waking up but I did get back to sleep for an hour and a half so I think that’s okay….have a damn headache that feels like allergies again and I think I may try the flonase again since I have a bunch of it and with the vaccine, I don’t have to worry as much about immune suppression….it is a pain the the yearly tendonitus has settled in my hands and elbows this year and I am going to aggravate it this morning with moving a bunch more stuff to clear the old house and get that done….I am getting a little excited that my son and his wife are going to be here Saturday…have only seen him twice in the last 8 years and have only met his wife once a couple of years ago when I was in NYC with my daughter….it will be cool to have them near by and I hope they like what I’ve done to the house they are moving in to….I did get a nice bike ride in yesterday and found that there is a bar right on the beach and I think that is a little weird…now it is a little common in the Virgin Islands and other tropical places but Muskegon? Didn’t think that was allowed in Michigan….probably won’t frequent that on bike rides since it makes the ride no fun at all….not much to do today….just the run into town and back and then continue putting things away…I did get my stereo hooked up yesterday and listened to some favorite music pretty loud…still need to get the turntable hooked up later today…you remember turntables? You put those round black things called records on them? I know some of you that come here probably haven never seen a record played, but it is satisfying to do the ritual of putting one on the turntable, cleaning it with the discwasher, and gently lowering the stylus onto the record to start the music…more later….
A full 15 miles today…
Well…for the first and last time until April, I got out in shorts to do a full 15 miles today on the bike…with the rain we are going to get the next two days and the cold that is coming in, I’ll be back in thermasuit when I get back on the bike Friday and then the highs are at most going to be around 40 and some of them in the 30′s as far out as I can see…so that will mean I won’t be back in shorts until spring and that is a little disappointing since it is just so much more fun going out when you are not encumbered by all the damn layers you need when it is only 40…and there is even going to be some snow next week that is going to leave me here since I put the summer tires back on the car and I’m not going anywhere if there is snow…those tires are the worst ones I have ever seen in the snow and I really don’t have anywhere to be after I drop the keys to the Valley house Saturday….it will be nice to have my son and his wife back here in GR and I hope they can find jobs soon….at least they are going to get 2800 bucks from the relief bill and that should get them through a few months with no house payment….going to be good again tonight for the third day in a row and I really like all the energy I have when I take care of myself…got a bunch of stuff put away today and some other stuff moved downstairs and will have to do the same tomorrow when I bring the rest of my stuff over from the other house with Tom’s help…think I’m even going to bring some wood, too, since I need to build a work bench and I think there is enough stuff there to do that which my son will never use….we’ll see…
It’s always been a grift…
Well…damn, I have been laughing my butt off the past couple of days with what has been going on with the repubs and their war with the idiot trump…a a steady stream of those morons have been heading to the tacky HQ in Florida and kissing idiot boy’s butt for some reason when they could have kicked him to the curb after he instigated the attack on the capitol and was impeached for it…but no, for some damn unfathomable reason almost every one of the repubs is cowering from idiot boy and won’t say a word against him…and what is their reward for embarassing themselves to the world? Just the other day the grifter in chief sent a cease and disist letter to all of the repub organizations trying to raise money for other candidates and told them to stop using his name and likeness on their fundraising letters and e-mails…and the last bit of evidence that politics to idiot boy is just a grift, he then sent out a letter of his own to his cult-like followers to only give money to his super pac, not to any repubs but just his grift organization where he can control the money and use it to attack his perceived enemies while he skims of millions for himself since he is almost broke. It does make me laugh that nothing that the rest of the repubs do to kiss his ass is enough for idiot boy…it’s just his psychopathic need to hurt and control people that the repubs are falling for…geez, don’t they have any self respect? Yeah, we all know the answer to that question…nope…
March 9th
Well…running about on time this morning even with waking up at 3:15 and then getting up at 6…but I feel pretty good today with being good last night as I will tonight, too, kinda like getting to used to feeling okay and I think I’ll keep it up for a while….I did get out for a bike ride yesterday but it was a short one with the wind blowing over 15 and that makes it just brutal to go into it….and I’ll get out today in shorts with the temp getting over 50 but the wind is going to be blowing hard again so I’m not sure how long it will go…would like to get back out to the lake again to look around some but we’ll see….I do need to get started on the yard at some point but I still have snow piles around the garage and in front of the house that need to melt…the Miata is going to become a truck again since I need top soil at 40 pounds a bag and am going to get 6 at a time so that will be almost too much for the car…maybe only go with 4 bags at a time? I wonder if Menards will deliver if I order 12 or so at at a time? I did salvage a nice 40 gallon wheelie cart that the previous owners had stuffed in my garbage cart and that will work well for yard waste as I rake and work on the lawn….not much to do today…need to do the grocery run today since I am making the final run into GR tomorrow to pick up the rest of my stuff with Tom’s help and it looks like it is going to be raining so that will help get the salt out of the car….more later…
Only a little work today…
Well….I did have a plan to get a lot done today but I’m not sure how successful I was…I did get the comcast equipment that I never asked for sent back to them today, then out to put gas in the car before the price goes up again…then, when I got back here, I re inflated the tires to 32 psi since they had leaked down to about 23 pounds over the winter, then found a box cutter and cut the carton for the washer up and put it in the bin for them to pick up tomorrow and continued to put stuff away here….after dinner I started on cleaning up the windows on the porch and did some vacuuming to get the dirt out of them but they are going to need a scrubbing and replacement some time in the future since they’re not in too good of shape…..need to get out and get some top soil and grass seed to start seeding the back lawn as soon as it warms up…it looks like I’ll have to seed the whole thing since there is not much of a lawn but we’ll see…okay, done for the day…no cocktails tonight since I’m taking a few days off and I hope I can at least sleep a little tonight….
Georgia is coming for trump…
Well…not sure if you read about it or not but Georgia is coming hard for trump…over the weekend it was announced by the DA who is running the case against trump for election fraud has added a lawyer who specializes in racketeering cases and who has written the book on how to do it…yep, he actually wrote the procedures on how to make a racketeering case and his job is going to be on trump’s case…and there have been other pundits who specialize in the law who have come out to say that the only evidence that is needed to convict trump and his cronies is the phone call that he made to the Secretary of State of Georgia where he asked him to “find” enough votes to give the election to him….and guess who else was in on this election fraud…ole Lindsay Graham and I really think he needs to lawyer up and soon since these state charges are all felonies that carry up to a 20 year sentence….tick tock, trump…they are coming for you….
March 8th
Well…damn, I am so tired of waking up before 5 and having to fight to get back to sleep…and I hurt all up my left side after taking a spill on the bike and landing on my left side…not a bad spill but I am bruised from my shoulder to my Achilles and I’m limping around here today…I think part of it is that I went pretty hard on the 10 mile round trip…finally…but that is good pain that means I’m working hard enough to start getting back into shape….and I’m going to do another at least 10 mile ride today…want to go out and explore the two beaches I can get to on the south side of the channel that goes into Muskegon lake….when they get the trail repaired, I think is will only be about 4 miles each way to the beach and I can do that in my sleep….I did get a few things done yesterday and I need to fill my trash container today since they pick up tomorrow and that means I need to cut down the carton from the washing machine and get rid of some of the Amazon cartons, too, along with any trash I have….it’s a huge container so I’m sure it will take everything I have to go….not much to do today….need to get rid of the comcast equipment they sent me by mistake and get the bike ride in…then I need to check the air in the summer tires since they look a little soft and I can feel that when I drive the car….more later….
Yummy!
Well….Damn, that was good…I think the only way to cook corned beef and cabbage is in the instant pot…the beef came out so darn tender I didn’t need a knife to cut it and the same with the cabbage, carrots, and potatoes…the only problem is I ate too much and am uncomfortable right now as I watch Man U play…and they are ahead of City by 2-0 in the 63rd minute….but, it’s a little hard to watch since City is in first place and they have been unbeatable all year…when this is over, it’s back on the bike for a ride out toward the lake today and take a look around out there to see if the ice is off the trail yet….it should be this week with it it getting into the 50′s for a couple of days….okay, back to the match….
Could this be happiness?
Well….have been having this weird feeling this past week….one of contentment with my stress levels dropping to the lowest they’ve been since I can remember…and I’ve been smiling for no reason…after a week in my new house I wonder if this could be happiness? Over the past 18 months or so there has always been the nagging thoughts in the back of my mind that I had work to do on my son’s house along with the daunting task of finding a house for me…and while I still have mountains of work to do here, the urgency is just not there…it’s like I can finally just putter around and do things or not do things and it is finally my choice…I have realized that I can live with the house just as it is…with the over painted cupboards in the kitchen and the cracks in the plaster….and the projects to be done will be done on my timetable and no one else’s…I’m sitting here now with my last cup of coffee with soccer on in the background and reveling in the fact that Sunday morning is my favorite of the week…and I have corned beef and cabbage to cook in the instant pot for lunch and then a bike ride after the Manchester derby at 11:30….and I have the rest of the city to explore to go with the nice surprise that I live near a pretty nice part of it and I still have the Lake Michigan parks to see in the next months….the thought hit me the other day that I am finally home…to the last place I will call home since I’m pretty frickin old….but, while that could be depressing for some people, for me it’s strangely comforting…and it is the best outcome I could have imagined…I think this IS happiness…and I like it…
