Well…running late today…and as you probably noticed, I didn’t come back for another one yesterday…plans changed, things happened, and I decided to go out to shoot pool instead…and I won the week so that was cool….but, with that, I feel a little crappy today and don’t have a lot running around in my head so I’m going to keep this one short…I want to wash the car before I go read the papers so I can wax it later….and I have things to get done around here today…I’m not sure if the spray on sunscreen works that well since I feel burned today and it is a 30…we’ll see…more later…
June 14th
Well….it was a day yesterday but I didn’t do much…just some work around here and then some soccer…and then so much boredom last night that I re-read the last three days of papers while I had the Tigers and Cubs game on…slept a little better last night but was up at 3:30 and that is getting old but there were more than 4 hours of sleep so I guess I shouldn’t bitch…there were dreams that I don’t remember and I slept wrong again so my right shoulder/neck hurts like crazy….I was good, too, so I feel pretty good…and that is good since I have a pretty full day starting with the grocery run and then errands and a trip out to Cascade….and the first new episode of “Burn Notice” for summer is on later so there will need to be a cocktail or two to watch it…I will be back for more later and it may even be a good one so come on back…
I’ll grudgingly give it to Snyder…
Well…as you know, I’ve had mixed feelings about our governor here in Michigan, and when I think that he is falling to the right wing nuts in his party he does what he did today…thinking about the people of the state by bypassing the legislature and working on an agreement with Canada and the Federal government to build a new bridge from Detroit to Canada. After the ambassador bridge owner, Matty Maroun, bought enough legislators in his party to stall legislation that would approve the bridge, Snyder proved that he may be the pragmatist that he has claimed to be by using the powers of the governor’s office to move the state ahead…to stop the extortion by the Marouns and to make trade easier between the US and our largest trading partner….and to remove the bottleneck that creates hours of delays for the trucks carrying that trade. So, for today, I’ll say “good job” and keep it up for bucking a big donor and doing what is right for all of the people of Michigan…
June 13th
Well…it was a day yesterday with a nice lunch with T and then out to hang out with G for a while last night…and I got a bunch of work done around here yesterday, too, so at least I’m keeping moving..I did take the day off from working out and riding the bike since I was so busy but I’ll go back to the normal routine today…I still have a bunch of stuff to do around here to get things squared away so the boredom may be kept at bay for a while….I did have some weird dreams that included my old 77 New Yorker and junkyards but when it got out of hand, I just woke up so there was no lasting damage. Not much to do today…see, I’m trying to get back to the basics….I do want to go out and get the papers but I’m not sure if it’s a coffee shop day or not…my neck is still hurting today but we’ll try the ibuprofen again and I hope it helps…more later….
I think I’m in withdrawal…
Well…just a couple of months ago if someone had told me that I would be disinterested in politics, I would have just laughed my head off..after all, politics have been my lifeblood for as long as I can remember and the thought of not spending a large part of my day reading, thinking, and talking about it just is wrong…at least it was…but, now, I can’t get very interested or work up the outrage necessary to write the kind of fiery stuff that I used to do…the stuff that was dripping with sarcasm for idiots and never suffering fools gladly…I’m not sure when the change happened but I may be going through withdrawal from it…even though it doesn’t really feel that way…maybe the crushing boredom of being unemployed is part of it; I know that I have lost interest in the nonsense that comes from the right and the fact that with Citizens United, they can buy any election they want and no fact or bit of honesty can counteract it…I will keep trying, and trying, and trying, though…until it gets to the point that I can’t muster the strength to go on…I would like to get to 2,000….
June 12th
Well…it was an okay day yesterday but I didn’t really accomplish anything except getting the bathroom cleaned…but it really needed it so maybe that was enough…went to bed late and was up really early and I’m not sure how long I can keep up only sleeping 4 to 5 hours a night…I guess we’ll see….there were dreams last night but the took an unusual pattern in that the vivid ones came really early in the night…and I did get shot 4 times but it was only a .22 so I survived it and was just really irritated….I should feel better than I do today since I was really good yesterday but the allergies are now a constant so that could be it…not much to do today…well…I do have some things to do if I decide to do them…but I’m not sure yet….I will come back to try to get caught up today….there has to be something to comment on….the world is still turning, after all….
It’s about time…
Well…while I sit here watching the England France match, I thought I’d try to make some sense of the ideas that have been rattling around in my head today…one of the first is that I think it’s about time for a couple of things that have happened over the past day or so…the first of these is that one of the repubs has come out and said that the party has lost it’s way with all of the hostage taking on the debt and taxes…that came from ole Jeb Bush and he went on to comment that his father and Reagan would not be accepted in today’s party and something needs to be done about it…that they need to actually govern, not just oppose…
The second thing is a commentary done by E.J. Dionne in the Post today where he asserts that those on the left and center need to respond when the anti-government zealots keep screaming their heads off that government can’t do anything right….when all of us know that there are many things that only the government can and will do. Do you think that companies will spend their own money to stimulate the economy in a recession? Not on your life and I think E.J. is right that there are so many successes by government that we need to stop being afraid that the right will attack when we defend the role of government…they’re going to attack anyway so why be afraid of that? Geez…
June 11th
Well…it was a long day yesterday but I won at pool so that was okay…and I did get the new glasses so I can see really well now…didn’t know that I needed stronger ones until I got to the store and compared the old ones with the new ones…all the way up to 1.25 magnification…yeah, I know, that’s still not much when they go up to 3 so I guess I shouldn’t feel that bad about it…I feel a little crappy today since the pain that has been in my left neck has moved to the right now….I could say that it is a pain in the neck but that is just too bad of a pun…it looks like a normal day today with working out in a bit along with the bike ride and I am going to take it a little easy to heal up some….so, I’ll be back later for another one…I am behind again…
June 10th
Well…it was an interesting day yesterday and I had lots of stuff to do so that made the day go by really quickly…went to T’s son’s graduation party and I’m glad I went…she was really happy that I came and I got the chance to meet T’s brother and hang out with her parents for a while…I now really know where she gets her oddness…but, that oddness is a good thing…then, I met up with the twins over at Rose’s for a couple…I can’t believe I’ve driven my new car over 600 miles already…I did break my glasses a couple of days back and need to go out this morning and get a couple of new pairs…was waiting for them to go on sale and they are now so I can get two for the price of one….I do have things to do today…it’s only about 8:20 and I am getting ready to get on the bike already and then, out to shoot pool this aft….I may have to use the air in the car today…it’s going to be 90…yow…more later…
The rantings of a crazy man…
Well….this is just going to be a short one on something that struck me as funny out on the bike ride…why don’t you get to keep your minutes on your cell phone if you don’t use them all? The corner gas station doesn’t come and siphon the unused gas out of your car at the end of the month, the grocery store doesn’t come and take the unused food out of your fridge at the end of the month, so why can the phone companies take back your minutes? Just asking….
